Game Chat – Geelong v Western Bulldogs

Written by Thommo on July 18 2015

This match may signal a changing of the guard. Before the season commenced nobody predicted the Doggies to play finals or tipped them to defeat the Cats in Geelong, but both are real possibilities.

Perhaps it was the long break, but Geelong struggled against the Kangaroos last week and must find form in front of their home crowd if they wish to stay in contention for finals. Defeating the Dogs will be much harder without Selwood, but the surprise return of Mitch Duncan may help alleviate the loss of their captain.

The Doggies were shocking in the first half of last week’s game, but once they managed to kick-start their running game they mowed down the ailing Suns in one quarter. The Doggies will need to replicate that form to win this game as they haven’t beaten the Cats in years.

Congratulations to Dale Morris on 200 games.

Thommo’s tip: Western Bulldogs by 12 points.

  1. Hi community, so as I probably mentioned the other day I was pretty certain on going Cripps – GAJ, however the main dilemma is that the only rookie I can downgrade to make this upgrade possible is Lever, who has been my D6 with Hamling and A.Pearce on my bench. I run the risk of hoping these rookies on my bench continue to get games, along with the downgrade rookie I bring in for Lever (likely Maynard at this stage) for the rest of the season. So, that is Option A.

Option B is to get Sidebottom/Rockliff in for Cripps using just the one trade this week, and ultimately waiting for GAJ, as well as waiting for Lever to fatten up more in cash before moving him on in a few weeks time for my last D6 upgrade.

    What do you guys reckon?

    T/U – Option A
    T/D – Option B

Defenders: Shaw, Houli, Newnes, Hodge, Ibbotson, Lever (Hamling, A.Pearce)
Midfielders: Fyfe, Hannebery, Pendlebury, JPK, Gray, Cripps, Wines, Steele (Selwood, McKenzie, Amon)

  2. Weighing up between:
    Option 1: Wallis > Ablett & Hamling > Maynard w/ 3 trades remaining and $70k bank
DEF: Shaw, McDonald,KK, Hibberd, MacMillan, Smith (Maynard, Edwards)
MID: Fyfe, Hannebery, Pendlebury, Beams, Priddis, Ward, JPK, Ablett (Boston, Steele, Glenn)
    or
    Option 2: Wallis > Rockliff & Smith > Gibson w/ 3 trades remaining and $0 bank
DEF: Shaw, McDonald,KK, Hibberd, MacMillan, Gibson (Hamling, Edwards)
MID: Fyfe, Hannebery, Pendlebury, Beams, Priddis, Ward, JPK, Rockliff (Boston, Steele, Glenn)

    Opinions welcomed. Thanks
