JLT Game Chat – Giants v Roos

Written by Motts on March 10 2017

Sam Wright’s ankles are fully repaired and the North Melbourne defender will play his first game at AFL level since round 11 last season when he steps on to Manuka Oval for tonight’s JLT Community Series clash with Greater Western Sydney.

Wright, 26, managed just eight games for the Kangas last season before breaking down and he ended up having surgery on both ankles during the middle of the season.

He failed in a bid to return ahead of the finals and had more surgery after North’s exit from the finals so that he could have a complete pre-season.

The Kangas will take a strong squad to their former secondary home ground, with only Marley Williams, Mason Wood and Ben Brown missing from their likely best 22.

The Giants’ 27-man squad looks also particularly good. Brett Deledio (calf) is the only big name missing and he will not be playing in round one in any event.

No.2 draft pick Tim Taranto keeps his place, suggesting a round one debut for the Giants is on the cards.

Teams can use up to 24 players in the final pre-season game and interchange rotation limits come into play for the first time this year.

    1. As s North man I reckon Turner is worth more than a passing glance. Has put on about 4-5 kgs and has had a full pre-season.
If Thomas continues to have more midfield minutes i can see Turner playing round 1.
Simpkin looking pretty good but not sure that he has the conditioning to play round 1 as he started preseason with main group a bit later than most.
Disappointing that Durdin didn’t get a game as cheaper rookies seem hard to find.

    1. Had Toby last year, held him all year was more a like pick than a thought pick.
Took the good with the bad.

      82 last week.

  2. Strong last quarter from Hibberd. Not sure what his SuperCoach score was yet, but he got 48 DT points from 45% TOG. Scaling his TOG to 85% takes that score over 90, too.

  3. My only word of advice, you have picked players you feel can get the Job done.

The pre season is a bit like chasing last week score, just stay strong with your decision, remember the pre season is more about settling on your rookie choices, with the odd return of the injured.
