Game Chat – Gold Coast v GWS

Written by Thommo on July 18 2015

As the league’s two newest teams prepare to do battle, let’s pause and reflect on the fortunes of the two teams. Where Gold Coast was the team most likely to improve at the start of the season, they have now lost that mantle to the Giants. Injuries have struck many key Suns, rumours abound that there is a rift in the playing group and they have well publicized issues with drug use (probably shared by many teams). In comparison the Giants have talent to burn, they are in contention for finals and have shown a maturity in dealing with their compromised back-line that is a credit to them.

Wouldn’t the Suns love to defeat the Giants today and earn back some respect? Can Gazza carry them over the line single-handedly?

Congratulations to Tom Scully who has copped a lot of flack in working his way to 100 games.

Thommo’s tip: GWS by 18 points.

  1. Gazza does not (quite) a team make.

Questions over possible Treloar trade and the loss of Shiel (as well as Mumford) hurting GWS too.

Could be Gold Coast’s best chance at GWS for a while. If GWS can keep their list together, looking lije finalists next year.
