Game Chat – Gold Coast vs Geelong

Written by Huttabito on June 2 2018

WHERE AND WHEN: Metricon Stadium, Saturday, June 2, 4.35pm AEST

For so many reasons, this game has so much interest. Not only is it the first time Gold Coast will play at its home ground in 2018, but it’s also the first time Gary Ablett will play his former club since departing during the off-season. And it’s also the first time Suns co-captain Tom Lynch will have played for five weeks after overcoming a persistent knee problem. With a Cats team that has spluttered their way through the opening 10 rounds playing a Gold Coast unit that has lived on the road until now, both are desperate to kick-start a good run of form. Gold Coast has shown it will battle hard under new coach Stuart Dew, and with Lynch, Sam Day (suspension) and Jack Martin (illness) all back after missing the match in China against Port Adelaide, they might now have some polish to match the endeavour. Geelong have been struck by injuries, but battled to get past Carlton last week and would be confident of making it back-to-back victories against the Suns.

R7, 2017, Gold Coast 18.16 (124) d Geelong 15.9 (99) at Metricon Stadium
R6, 2016, Geelong 25.18 (168) d Gold Coast 7.6 (48) at GMHBA Stadium
R3, 2015, Geelong 16.9 (105) d Gold Coast 13.18 (96) at GMHBA Stadium
R14, 2014, Gold Coast 17.16 (118) d Geelong 11.12 (78) at Metricon Stadium
R10, 2013, Geelong 18.15 (123) d Gold Coast 10.11 (71) at GMHBA Stadium

Hutta’s’s Tip: Geelong by 30 points

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  1. NO LATE CHANGES. REPEAT NO Late changes for Geelong THIS WEEK….. SO FAR!!!

Gold Coast: Aaron Young, Jack Bowes, Charlie Ballard, Nick Holman
Geelong: Lachie Fogarty, Aaron Black, Sam Menegola, Jordan Cunico

  2. If we have two emergencies (one emergency who scores, and one emergency who didn’t play and got 0) from the same position, and there is a non-playing player on field, which score is taken?

For example, I had Mirra (didn’t play) and Doedee (will play) as emergencies in defence and Coffield on-field (won’t play). Which emergency score do I get for Coffield given Mirra scored 0?

  4. My nephew is after some thumbs, he has Fritsch 110 on the bench as emergency, and the only player he can take off field is Darling. He’s already behind due to low scores from Dahlhaus, McLean & Cripps

TU: Leave Darling, he will hopefully go huge at home against the Saints
TD: Put Keeffe on the field, park Darling on the bench and take the 110 from Fritsch

Many thanks coaches. He is 12 and takes his Supercoach very seriously.

  5. Anyone else notice Kelly burnt Danger on 2 occasions in the 2nd quarter?

On both occasions it was a Geelong turnover, guessing Danger will have a quiet chat to him at half time….if Chris Scott doesn’t first!

  6. oh man, SC is a cruel beast … Kelly outscoring Danger, will get his BE and keep making good money for all those that held *sigh*, another reason to be really dirty on him after the last two weeks of holding …

  7. Kelly was always going to be my last upgrade (so I kept telling myself ),of course I went early , although I went for Heeney FWD via DPP and put Holman on field in Kellys place so not an absolute disaster . Buying in T.Smith as well might be though.
