Game Chat – Gold Coast vs West Coast

Written by Thommo on June 13 2020

Where and when: Metricon Stadium, Saturday 13th June at 7:40pm

Last time they met: West Coast 11.14 (80) def Gold Coast 8.9 (45) at Optus Stadium, Perth.

What it means for Gold Coast: This probably sounds stupid, but this is a free hit for the Gold Coast. There are few expectations on them in 2020 and they have a decent record at home against the Eagles. This will be closer than expected.

What it means for West Coast: This is the reverse situation for West Coast. They have a list that should be competing for a Premiership: They simply must win!

Thommo Watch: I really wanted Shannon Hurn but I just couldn’t afford him so you just know I’ll be watching those thick calves like a Hawk!

Thommo’s Tip: West Coast by 2 points

    1. This season, prices are changing after a player has played 2 games, rather than the usual 3; however, the price changes are still based three-game averages. For the first price change, the system pretends players have scored whatever they’re priced at for an imaginary first game (Round 0, if you will). After that, everything works basically the same way as it normally does.

  1. folks – was wondering if anyone is aware of a rookie priced (cheap) DEf or FWD that is named new this week that may be worthwhile?? still to play … outside of the popular Swans, Norths ones etc??

One trade left and nothing I can really use it on unless it is to trade out Georgie or Cavarra in Fwd … I can move Brander to fwd if there is a defender still to play?

    1. No rookie defenders left to play sorry Macca. The other rookies named but yet to play are:

Ned McHenry (ADE) $123 900 MID
      Laitham Vandermeer (WBD) $123 900 MID/FWD
Kyron Hayden (NTH) $134 700 MID

I know almost nothing about Vandermeer except that he’s a hard running rebounding defender. I like McHenry and he should have fwd status IMO, but that doesn’t help you much unfortunately!

      1. thanks Chillo, appreciate the quick reply! – yeah, I didn’t think so … they were the ones I could see … oh well, looks like I’ll save a trade this week …

Need to get better organised .. should have been better placed for the Starcevich score and then could have moved duals with Rivers and Brander etc to still hold BZT on field and bring in Doedee … thems the breaks … real life gets in the way sometimes!!

    1. Just watching the game I feel as though NicNat is getting stitched up a bit by CD. Lots of HTA and a few clearances…

      1. Ugh. What is wrong with us, CT!?

I get still being in holiday mode from being up in QLD for the last two months and our poor record up there, but we still should’ve been able to click into gear and put down the Suns.
