Game Chat – GWS V Geelong

Written by Thommo on April 3 2016

Venue: Manuka Oval, Canberra at 1:10pm

Last time they met:

R17, 2015: Geelong 9.15 (69) d Greater Western Sydney 6.6 (42) at Manuka Oval

Top 3 SC scorers from last match:

  • GWS: Treloar 132, Shaw 127, Griffen 103, Kelly 102 (I’ve gone 4 as Treloar not really relevant!)
  • Geelong: Motlop 144, Selwood 142, Hawkins 136

Key Outs:

GWS

  • In: Hoskin-Elliott, Coniglio, Patton
  • Out: Tomlinson (om), Steele (om), Stewart (om)

Geelong

  • In/Out: No change

Game notes: After blowing the game against the Dees last week, the Giants will be hungry to atone and avoid starting the year 0-2. Standing in their way is the resurgent Cats who dominated the Hawks for most of the game last week. Playing this match in Canberra rather than at Spotless stadium will  steal away most of the Giants’ home ground advantage so they will have to play a blinder to win this one.

Thommo’s tip: Geelong by 25 points.

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  4. Looks like Greene’s been given the kick up the bum he desperately needed. 17 touches and 5 clearances. Hopefully one less problem to deal with.

    Great quarter by GWS.

  6. Maybe I’ll get the captain right next week!!!

Fyfe now Dangerfield. If I chose Dangerfield then Fyfe my season would’ve started entirely differently.

  9. Mumford defo jumped into Duncan. Will be interesting what happens.
    Lots of strange umpiring.
Giants are very fast and every player can kick long and straight (except you Toby and Patton).

  10. Spent the whole game standing up facing into the sun with about a zillion people standing in front of me. Just to add to the pain, Danger went missing for the third quarter and two of my least favourite players (Scully and Greene) basically did whatever they wanted for the whole game. Yuck.
