Game Chat – GWS v Port Adelaide

Written by Thommo on April 15 2017

Venue: UNSW Canberra Oval at 4:35pm AEST

PAST FIVE TIMES
R18, 2016, Greater Western Sydney 11.13 (79) d Port Adelaide 9.6 (60) at Adelaide Oval
R4, 2016, Greater Western Sydney 22.19 (151) d Port Adelaide 9.11 (65) at Manuka Oval
R20, 2015, Port Adelaide 16.15 (111) d Greater Western Sydney 13.12 (90) at Adelaide Oval
R7, 2014, Port Adelaide 20.12 (132) d Greater Western Sydney 15.7 (97) at Manuka Oval
R12, 2013, Port Adelaide 19.11 (125) d Greater Western Sydney 6.14 (50) at Spotless Stadium

Game notes: With these two teams separated in fourth and fifth spot on the ladder by just percentage, this Canberra clash is shaping as a cracker. The Giants have lost Ryan Griffen to injury, but the Power will also be undermanned after ruckman Paddy Ryder was suspended for his late brain fade in last week’s Showdown. GWS belted Port by 86 points at the same venue in the corresponding round last year, but Ken Hinkley’s side have a different look about them in 2017, and will no doubt be keen to keep their position in the top four. Ollie Wines, Travis Boak and Brad Ebert have been in stunning form so far this season, but Josh Kelly, Dylan Shiel and Callan Ward have been outstanding for the Giants, so the midfield battle will be worth the price of admission alone.

Thommo’s Tip: GWS by 4-5 goals.

  1. Shaw is gonna have a field day.

If he could at least drop within 200k of Marchbank in 2 weeks though that would be lovely.

    1. You lock in 140 every day of the week.

I posted in the Captains thread that despite Hawthorn bleeding lots of points, they have only given up:

      150+: 1
      140-149: 1
      130-139: 1
      120-129: 2

A lot of people going 90/100+ but little go massive.

            1. The round of 256 goes over rounds 4 and 5, the round of 128 goes over rounds 6 and 7 etc…

If you go bad this week you have next week to make up the difference.

              1. Okay sweet! I didn’t realise that part of it. Should make the results much more accurate than just weekly variance.

          1. If FREO can win two in a row.

            Anything can happen.

Your boys were tough at it last night RB.

But..they’re missing the kicking skills of Wells and Boomer.

Who do you think is the best kick now at North?

            1. Simpkin looks like he’ll be a player. Dumont is another Cunnington. Brown’s a gun up forward. We lost ’cause of guys like Thompson, Ziebell and Thomas.

              1. Turner?

You just needs some kids that can kick.

I agree Brown can play. do you think they are scared of playing him in the ruck?

If he could ruck. Do you need Goldie and Pruess?

You just seems to have too many Bulls and Giraffs. and not enough prime movers?

  5. Getting a bit worried Powell Pepper has forgotten what the football looks like and what his actually doing out there :/

  6. Powell Pepper lacking his usual aggression. Not much of the ball and very little tackling. Hasn’t even given away any frees, just struggling to get involved.

  8. I can bench Barrett and play Pickett.

This would avoid SPPs score. 40 Can Pickett out score that?

This would make Danger captain again.

T/U Do it ! Danger will go Huge…..Pickett will get 50+

T/D Take Lachies 140….. Everyones got PIG anyway.
