Game Chat – GWS vs Brisbane

Written by Huttabito on April 28 2018

WHERE AND WHEN:ย Spotless Stadium, Saturday, April 28, 4.35pm AEST

SUMMARY
Round six sees the Giants return to their home ground at Spotless Stadium for the first time this season and they’ll be keen to make up for last week’s disappointing draw with St Kilda. Leon Cameron’s men had multiple chances to seal the game in the final term, but let themselves down in front of goal to let two important points get away from them. The Lions made a late run at the Suns to almost steal last week’s match at the Gabba, but while their comeback was a positive, the fact remains that they’re still winless in 2018. Gun forwards Jonathon Patton, Jeremy Cameron and Toby Greene loom as big problems for Brisbane, especially if the Giants’ midfield can get them consistent opportunities inside 50, and the form of veteran Brett Deledio is also a major plus for GWS. Charlie Cameron is a Lion for the Giants to lock down on, with his speed and goalkicking sense always a danger.

LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R14, 2017, GWS 22.14 (146) d Brisbane 12.14 (86) at the Gabba
R17, 2016, GWS 22.14 (146) d Brisbane 9.13 (67) at the Gabba
R10, 2015, GWS 14.13 (97) d Brisbane 10.7 (67) at Spotless Stadium
R13, 2014, GWS 19.11 (125) d Brisbane 12.8 (80) at the Gabba
R21, 2013, Brisbane 18.15 (123) d GWS 9.9 (63) at the Gabba

Hutta’s Tip:ย GWS by 30 points.

    2. 19 possies at half time. Sometimes playing on Zorko but really doing his own thing wherever whenever he wants.

  3. Anyone have the balls to get Deledio for Franklin this week?

    Injury risk but HUGE upside.

I doubled downed on Higgins and Guelfi.

    But I thought about it!

      1. My news is 2++

He hasn’t trained for 4 weeks!

When he starts running again may need a few weeks to get up to speed.

        I would trade him ๐Ÿ™

        1. Crap… didn’t realise. Probably would have done Franklin to Gray instead of Hibberd if i knew that. Who’s looking good for a straight swap at this point?

  4. Bit concerned about Stef Martin.. looks like he’s going to dominate ruck but no use if he’s not tapping to advantage.

Cogs started well. Finlayson will hopefully wrack them up kicking in all these Lion behinds, and Langdon to hopefully pinch a few.

    1. Yep, Finlayson and Martin looking very concerning.

Edit: And SHIT. My forward line woes continue. Looks like Langdon might be done, checking for ACL. No idea how long Buddy will be out, and need to fill 3 spots with Langdon (inj) Buddy (inj) Fritsch, Henry, Fogarty (not playing).

  5. Lids looking very good.

Zorko is absolute rubbish this year.

Cogs is on fire. Him and Rich are the the two best on ground by a mile.

  6. Take Naughton’s 78 or play Murray?
Sorry…..just saw a similar post above…looks like the early consensus is to bench Murray and take the 78.

      1. Fair enough Liam. Just went on a rant there. But obviously you can’t make all of your own decisions because you are here
