Game Chat – GWS vs Richmond

Venue: Spotless Stadium at 4:35pm AEST.

LAST FIVE MEETINGS

R19, 2016, GWS Giants 17.9 (111) d Richmond 3.5 (23) at Manuka Oval
R14, 2015, Richmond 10.18 (78) d GWS Giants 10.9 (69) at the MCG
R19, 2014, Richmond 13.11 (89) d GWS Giants 8.14 (62) at the MCG
R10, 2014, Richmond 24.10 (154) d GWS Giants 5.11 (41) at Spotless Stadium
R22, 2013, Richmond 25.13 (163) d GWS Giants 6.6 (42) at Spotless Stadium

Game notes: These two teams couldn’t have been further apart after round eight, with Giants coming off a thrilling last-minute win over Collingwood, and the Tigers suffering a heartbreaking loss after the siren to the Dockers. It will be tough, but Richmond must find a way to move on quickly and get their heads right for a daunting trip to Spotless Stadium, and they’ll give themselves a sniff given the Giants’ injury toll continues to mount. GWS midfielder Josh Kelly is just about the form player of the competition at the moment, and with Dylan Shiel, Callan Ward, Tom Scully and Lachie Whitfield as support, the home side’s midfield is imposing. Richmond captain Trent Cotchin and fellow star Dustin Martin will have plenty of responsibility, as will Toby Nankervis, who will enjoy his battle with another aggressive ruckman in Giant Shane Mumford.

Thommo’s Tip: GWS by 18 points

  1. G’day guys,
    Does anyone know how long Butler will be on the sidelines for? Facing a doughnut this week in the fwds with limited funds in the bank. I hate doing this, but was thinking of bringing in Bolton to cover him for the next couple of weeks (trading out Balic). Cheers
    T/U: Do it
    T/D: Crazy, take the doughnut and assess next week

    1. Thanks guys, got him in. On 25 at HT, so about what I expected. Hopefully he can have a decent second half and keep his spot next week

  3. Glad I held off on bringing Williams in. At this rate he’ll be very cheap if I want to bring him in in two weeks.

    1. Currently playing FWD pocket. Just kicked a goal though but struggling to get into the game much like GWS in general.

  4. Here is one for the scoring anomalies.
    Dylan Shiel: 15 kicks, 13 hb, 6 marks, 1 tackle (8 contested with 5 clearances) @ 71% DE.
    Shiel = 75 SC pts
    Daniel Rioli: 7 kicks, 5 hb, 5 marks, 2 tackles (4 contested with 1 clearance) @ 63% DE.
    Rioli = 72%
    CD is not serious.

  5. Tigerland
    We are pretenders we’re from Tigerland
    In any weather you will see us with a grin
    But we don’t like to put in
    We get a good start then we break you’re heart
    We need a new Royce Hart
    Oh we’re from Tigerland
    We always weaken when the pressure is put on
    Unlike the Tigers of old
    We always get rolled
    We’re from Tiger
    We’re YELLOW and slack
    We’re from Tigerland
