Game Chat – Lions v Roos

Written by Motts on April 2 2016

Venue: The Gabba at 4:35pm.

Last Time They Met:

Round 17, 2015 – North 16.14 (110) def Brisbane 5 8 (38) at the Gabba.

Best SC in last match:

  • Brisbane – Robinson 125, Mayes 109, Redden 107
  • North – Petrie 146, Goldstein 127, Harvey 107

Key outs:

  • Brisbane – Beams (injured), Mathieson (injured), Robinson (injured)
  • North – Anderson (injured)

Game notes: After winning its first round one match under Brad Scott’s coaching, North Melbourne will be confident of making it two from two against the Lions on Saturday. The Kangaroos haven’t always had it their own way at the Gabba under Scott’s leadership – losing three of its four matches there – but are favoured to reverse that trend here after a barnstorming finish to take care of Adelaide first up. The Lions lost to West Coast by 10 goals in their season-opener, but showed plenty of flair in topping 100 points, and with livewire Dayne ‘The Zork’ Zorko back from suspension, should give the Kangaroos headaches with their speed. But if North are serious about taking the step to premiership contention, these are the games they have to win.

Mottsy’s Tip: North by 60

  1. The outs aren’t SC relevant but one of the ins is definitely SC relevant …

Scott Thompson (soreness) replaced in selected side by Lachie Hansen.

Kayne Turner (hamstring) replaced in selected side by Ben Jacobs.

Think this actually makes North stronger. Beware Rockliff owners we’ve got our tagger back in the team.

  5. Daniel Wells = bargain of the year. Nasty head knock, hope both are ok.

Standouts (regardless SC points) have been Wells, Waite, Harris Andrews and Zorko.

I always worry how much SC scores do not match actually watching the game.
