Game Chat – Melbourne v Adelaide

Written by Father Dougal on May 27 2018

WHERE AND WHEN: TIO Traeger Park (Alice Springs), Sunday May 27, 2.50pm (ACST)

SUMMARY

The third-placed Demons face off against the fourth-placed Crows in a hugely important clash for both sides. Melbourne has won four games on the trot, but a win over last year’s Grand Finalists would add some legitimacy to their finals credentials. The Demons have scored 315 points in their past two weeks and are fresh off a 109-point rout of Carlton. Melbourne’s versatile forward line could prove to be a handful for Adelaide, with Jake Melksham (five goals against the Blues), Tom McDonald (four) and Alex Neal-Bullen (four) all in fine form. Despite being hit hard by injury, the Crows have won four of their past five encounters and appear in good shape to again finish in the top four. After a relatively slow start to the year, Eddie Betts has started to recapture his best form and has booted nine goals in the past three weeks. Betts and Demon Neville Jetta are expected to go toe-to-toe in what will be an enthralling match-up between two of the game’s top indigenous players, with the Melbourne-Adelaide clash to kick off the celebrations for Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round the following week.

Father Dougal’s Tip: My….I feel like it will be close. Heart overruling brain, Demons by 6

  3. I take back everything I said about the Dees. They are a bloody good footy team.
I was going to double upgrade this week, but I think Tim Smith might be a must have now.

  4. Can someone explain what has happened to Jacobs. Even at the start of the year he was posting alright scores whereas his 3 round average is now 42….

    1. He & his partner had a baby about 4 weeks ago, he’s played very poorly since then!

Thankfully I traded him to NicNat this week 🙂

  5. Tim Smith is going to be a must. Cant not jump on a rookie with back to back 90+ at that price.

  6. Smith definite in next week. Wanted to go early, but my trades for next week are now locked. 2 downgrades and a sideways.

  7. so what has happened to Oliver? – two weeks now with poor scores … also his TOG is down and spent a lot of second quarter on bench it seemed.

Further, how does he only get 98 points??? 31 possessions, 3 marks, 10 tackles, 16 contested … are you kidding me? Is it just because he had 23 handballs … but surely that doesn’t score him so badly?? … very annoying!

    1. A little perplexed at his low score too having watched. But not worried. He’s a freak. In a good way 😉

  8. I think anyone who owns Petracca has good reason to ask why he is not scoring better. A few games this year he has been very influential yet SC score is much lower than he deserves.
