Game Chat – Melbourne v St Kilda

Written by Father Dougal on July 1 2018

WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Sunday July 1, 1.10pm AEST

SUMMARY

Prior to the season, Melbourne and St Kilda were two teams widely tipped to push into finals contention. After 14 rounds, the Demons are well in the finals race, while the Saints find themselves massively off the pace. Following two losses in a row, Melbourne needs a win to get its season back on track and keep pace with the AFL’s top four. With a tricky fixture to navigate at the end of the season, capitalising on wins now will be crucial for the Demons’ finals chances. For Alan Richardson’s side, building on the momentum it gained in a thrilling win over Gold Coast prior to the bye will be paramount. The Saints can’t change how they performed in the first half of the season but finishing off the year by pinching a few wins will be paramount.

Father Dougal’s Tip: They like to feast upon the weak, so Demons by 30

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  1. Need to beat league opponent, going to come down to the wire.

    TU: Take Gawn like opponent
TD: Risk C on Fyfe to go big

I’m projected to win by 50 right now, but it’s 6 vs 5 players (his way) and I’d argue he’s under-projected.

  4. FMD… took the VC off Titch after Ahern was dropped. My VC Gawn starts going massive so move Ahern back onto field. Ahern’s a late in, so now can’t use Gawn and have to run with Fyfe 🙁

      1. Not if you have a dedicated, non-playing loophole. Or an injured one, Webster is my captain this week. Grundy my VC which is nice. Not thrilling, but nice.

        1. I already have another 3 non-playing players, so I feel the permanent loophole is a waste. Olango was the popular one, but wouldn’t have worked for Gawn or Titch this round, so would be in the same boat.

          1. yeh I have orlango so I had to go cripps vc & went fyfe c , have had Mitchell from the start & have missed every 1 of his big scores as c or vc , all his 110’s though , I have had the vc or c on him , very annoying ..
