Game Chat – Melbourne vs Fremantle

Written by Thommo on September 7 2020

Where and When: Cazaly’s Stadium, Cairns. Monday 7 September at 7:10pm AEST.

Last time they met: Rd 14, 2019: Melbourne 13.7 (85) def Fremantle 11.5 (71) at MCG

Match Preview: As a Hawks’ supporter, the only thing making this season more bearable is knowing that I don’t barrack for Melbourne. They would have to be the most frustrating club of the past decade who mix good wins with stupid losses. Just look at last week’s loss to Sydney!

Well, here is a chance at redemption. The Fremantle Dockers have been competitive this season but they are obviously a young team learning their way and they don’t have the class of the Demons. This should be a simple win for Melbourne even though Fremantle is good enough to avoid a blow-out.

Over to you, Melbourne!

Supercoach Watch: Melbourne: Petracca, Oliver and Max Gawn should fly the flag for their SC teams with Brayshaw out this week.

Fremantle: Fyfe and Andrew Brayshaw are the most popular of the Freo players. Hopefully (for their sake) all SC squads have traded out Michael Walters as he seems to be playing mostly forward these days.

Thommo Watch: Thommo was not happy to see Brayshaw return to his minutes restriction last week. I know Freo won’t play finals but just let the kid play, Longmuir!

Thommo’s Tip: Melbourne by 30 points.

    1. Noooooooooooo. I reckon I have currently 10k left after I get him for PF.

I’d much rather an easy dees win and Gawn has a quiet night.

  1. Sooooo..

With my SC season on the line…

Welcome to the team Captain Max Gawn.

Tear my team apart big guy.

Oh sorry, leave Cerra alone, the kids on our side 😉

  2. Sonny wasn’t happy during the game last week & expressed his feelings towards the coaches box.
Will not surprise to see Sonny in the middle tonight

  3. Williams out injured for GWS so going for a interesting move and bringing in May.
Could have been Laird or Haynes but thought I’d go with something left field

    1. I did the same, but I traded him to Gawn. Still going to work out better for me, but where has this been the past few weeks Jack??

  4. Just got Bedford as my captain on fire! Currently on -18 coming towards halftime, giving me a nice handy -36

      1. Only joking guys! I have it on Gawn and started well sitting on 81 at half.
I found it too interesting to see Bedford sitting on -16 at half. Never really seen a score that low before. 4 clangers and 2 disposal at 0% DE

  5. Petracca got 2 disposals last 2 mins he was already on 9, why haven’t they updated to 11?

Someone who runs this betting for disposals is pulling a shifty!

  6. How come Viney is still playing but Simpkin was automatically sent off after ‘similar’ heavy head collisions?

  7. Said it a while back – Brayshaw is a gun in slippery/wet conditions. Never fumbles. Now they just have to give him decent time on the field.

  8. How good is Fyfe flying home to save a dodgy looking score. Very happy with this, will lock Gawn in as VC loophole, Brayshaw, trac and even Rivers.

  9. Melbourne didn’t know how to hit a target, absolutely killed their scores! Only 4 players with DE of 70% or more.
Compare that to Freo with 14 players over 70%

      1. Not too surprised as the team played poor, so he can’t get much of the ball on the wing. Brought in May as well and he scored similar both around 60. At least my new recruit of Petracca slightly covered for them

          1. Nah, not really much of an individual team supporter. Quite neutral and follow the game for SC and individual players.
Always asked if i had to pick a team it would be Essendon as that is who I supported when I was under 12

            1. Thats interesting, lots of dees youve got there thought you might swing that way. My season was hurt by my hawks bias. When hawks played well (first 4 weeks lol) my sc was amazing when we turned to a hot mess so did my sc team. Ceglar and Wingard certainly limited my ranking.

Lesson learnt for next year at least

              1. Only had 2 Dees until this round. Thought Langdon was worth it after seeing his last month at Freo then 1st round this year.
Petracca was a top 6 forward so seemed ideal.
May was only brought in to cover Williams. Seeing his form it looked a good option but Dees have to play well and they failed that tonight

  10. What a mockery of scores tonight, could cd have given petracca any more. Scaled up 10 after game and did nothing in last few minutes and de less than 50 %.

  11. Totally agree, 48%De , no goals (2 points so no bonus there) one mark, 4 tackles only and 4 clangers! I have played SC for years but scoring this year seems more random than ever. Yeah spoken by a salty non owner who most probably just got knocked out of their cash league by his score.
