Game Chat – Melbourne vs Gold Coast

Written by Thommo on July 11 2020

Where and When: Giants Stadium, Saturday 11th July 2020 at 6:05pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 8, 2020: Melbourne 8.13 (61) def Gold Coast 9.6 (60) at Metricon Stadium

What it means for Melbourne: Melbourne is starting to show that stinky form that has sent their supporters bald over the last twenty years. At some stage they’ve got to show something. Anything! Don’t they?

What if means for Gold Coast: Despite getting blown out a bit late in the match last week, the Suns were again impressive against the Cats in Geelong. They will want to maintain the rage this week and continue playing their impressive, new brand of footy.

Supercoach Watch: With Matty Rowell not playing many Supercoaches will be sadder and less interested in this match although I have seen a few coaches trading in Hugh Greenwood this week. After a week of media attention, it will be interesting to see if Oliver can lift his disposal efficiency and Supercoach scores.

Thommo’s Watch: Thommo won’t be watching! No Rowell = No Thommo

Thommo’s Tip: Suns by 12 points.

    2. My opponent had VC on Dangerfield (146) but still went for Grundy as captain… phew! tight contest with only 5 different players left. I just lead by 18 points.

  1. Have Neale as VC and C on Gawn. Should I take Neales’ score
or will Gawn go big against Witts ?

    TU Gawn
    TD Neale

    Thanks

    1. Took Neale’s score as VC but after trading Gawn before aborted game and only having 25% ownership and owning Petracca I will still be happy especially after H Young’s 1
Akk ok so trades Bennell before aborted game and own Oliver so big game for me .
Budarick lift please in second half as well

  2. Brought in Greenwood this week in Classic, put the C on him in Draft.

So Hughie, if you could go ahead and make about 20 tackles this evening, that would be great.

  3. I took a gamble on Langdon a couple weeks ago but he has failed the last couple of weeks. I’m hoping he can show me his true talent and that I haven’t made a poor decision

  4. Oliver looks a shell of his former self, no confidence.

Bennell looks scared to get near the ball.

    1. Seems to be sitting on 39 at half from 8 disposals, so not too bad. At least it isn’t Macpherson with only 7 sc points at half

  5. Had the Captaincy on Oliver, oh well. No risk no glory.

3 frees against and 6 clangers killed his score

    1. Can’t help but give myself a little credit lolol, Andy:

“Hey, Andy. Hope you’ve been well.

Viney probably not the biggest issue rn. Fine for him to be M8 by the end of the season tbh and, if you’ve got the trades, you can deal with him then.

For now, go for the cash generation.”

Props to you for backing him in though, happy he fired for you!

      1. Cash gen is a huge problem this year.
Can do one upgrade next week then I think I have to wait 2-3 weeks for cows to fatten up.

I think most people are going to end up with guys like Viney at M8
        Doedee/Lukosous at D6
        D. Smith at F6.
