Game Chat – Melbourne vs Hawthorn

Written by Thommo on July 17 2021

Where and When: MCG, Saturday 17th July at 7:25pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 5, 2021: Melbourne 15.14 (104) def Hawthorn 8.6 (54) at the MCG.

Last 5 H2H: Melbourne 4 – Hawthorn 1

Thommo Watch:

Melbourne: Gawn, Petracca, Oliver and May make Melbourne very SC relevant.

Hawthorn: Tom Mitchell and super-rookie Lachie Bramble. And if you accidentally got stuck with Ned Reeves, he’s back!

Match Preview: I’ll keep this one simple: The Hawks appear to have shot themselves in the foot with a very dubious coaching decision and the players looked flat last week. The Dees will want to lock in their top 2 spot soon so expect a motivated, comfortable win by Melbourne.

Thommo’s Tip:  Melbourne by 40 points. (Tipping record: 27.5/48)

  2. Can someone explain how if a football player has to isolate for 14days and has trained with the players how all don’t have to isolate as they would be considered close contacts, literally?

      1. Thanks mate but I’ve got no one to blame but myself for such a rookie error. Typical I do this the week Sharp scores 115 points as midfield emergency!

  5. A weird feeling after the draw but I am very happy. Great fight and ticker tonight and our kids were very impressive. Ironically arguably our 2 worst players were our most experienced with shiels and frost.
