Game Chat – Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs

Written by Huttabito on July 14 2018

WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday, July 14, 4.35pm AEST

SUMMARY
Melbourne won its sixth straight game when it toppled the Western Bulldogs by 49 points when the teams met in round 11. At that stage of the year, the Demons were being discussed as legitimate premiership contenders and things were going swimmingly. Despite a comfortable victory over the Dockers in Darwin last week, there are major question marks over Melbourne’s finals credentials with Simon Goodwin’s side dropping three of its past four games. The injury-depleted Bulldogs are a dangerous team on their day – as they showed when they defeated Geelong in round 15 – but the year is catching up with them and finals are almost certainly out of the question (although Luke Beveridge’s side is still mathematically a chance to feature in September). Melbourne has everything to play for as it tries to lock down a spot in the top eight.

LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R11, 2018, Melbourne 15.10 (100) d Western Bulldogs 7.9 (51) at Etihad
R13, 2017, Melbourne 17.11 (113) d Western Bulldogs 8.8 (56) at Etihad
R8, 2016, Western Bulldogs 17.12 (114) d Melbourne 12.10 (82) at the MCG
R20, 2015, Western Bulldogs 24.9 (153) d Melbourne 8.7 (55) at Etihad
R8, 2015, Melbourne 15.13 (103) d Western Bulldogs 9.10 (64) at the MCG

Hutta’s Tip:  Melbourne by 20 points

  3. Sorry to Macrae owners in advance!

Great to see Harmes go to do the hard tag on Macrae in the 2nd half, he was on track for 150 at this rate….slow down & finish around 120 max thank you!

  4. I struggle a bit with working out new prices, is anyone able to help me work out what macrae has to score to drop to 565K (currently at 629700 with a huge breakeven of 230) if this happens I cam swap bont without burning two trades

It’s probably likely he’s already over it. Thanks in advance!

        1. Just wait one more week. He’ll still have a large BE next week til his low score leaves his pricing cycle. I’ll try and work it out in a minute.
Just gotta put the boy to bed first.

          1. Should be close, but have his proj’d price at $581,249 and his BE at 174.3.

That is based on looking at current BEs for this round, which has an SC point valued at an ave. $489.404

            Hope that helps.

            1. if the above is right, then you will need him to score < 140/141 next week to bring him into your price range.

    1. I’m not 100% but I’m sure someone will answer your question accurately, B- harvs

I think it’s around $440 per point, so if his be is 230 & he scores 130 ….. he should depreciate by $44k

    2. His new price will be ~ $587k with a BE of 160. Give or take a few.

115 next week and it will be very tight for you.

  5. Thanks guys for the above information you’re all legends! That’s good to know, I might wait on him a week given the high BE
He did great today but given the injuries this year it’d be crazy to burn an extra trade on a high BE like that
