Game Chat – Port Adelaide v Brisbane

Written by Father Dougal on July 14 2019

Where and when: Adelaide Oval, Sunday, July 14, 4.10pm ACST

What it means for Port Adelaide: This is a chance for the Power (seventh, 8-7) to show their Showdown smashing of Adelaide wasn’t a fluke and prove they can be a serious premiership threat.

What it means for Brisbane: The Lions can consolidate a spot in the top four by winning back-to-back matches on the road after last weekend’s impressive victory against Greater Western Sydney.

The stat: Lions midfielder Lachie Neale has found plenty of the ball against the Power. Neale averages 37.2 disposals per game in his past five matches stretching back to 2016.  He had 43 touches and eight clearances in their 17-point win in round three.

The match-up: Charlie Dixon v Harris Andrews

Andrews is now the No.1 key defender in the competition having overtaken West Coast’s Jeremy McGovern, and is 27th overall in the Official AFL Player Ratings. The Lions fullback will give Dixon – the second-ranked key forward at the Power and 219th overall – everything he can handle.

It’s a big week for: Charlie Cameron

The Lions’ excitement machine will love nothing more than to celebrate his 100th AFL game with a huge victory at his former home ground. Cameron showed glimpses of his potential when he played at Adelaide Oval every second week, but the former Crow has taken his game to another level at the Lions.

Father Dougal’s Tip: Lions by 1

  1. Thought I was a genius going VC Gawn into C Neale this week, planned on using Hinge as the loophole. Have realized now that Hinge is on the bench, so I’ve got to go with Neale- all the while Gawn is slapping English around.

Any chance Neale goes off against Port like he did earlier this year?

T.U: Don’t worry, Neale will be all over again.

T.D: No, you’re a fool. He’s gonna get tagged into irrelevance.

  2. Even though the Lions are gonna take West Coast’s spot, I hope they pound Port Adelaide. Lions four goals up, suck sh*t. 22 morons too busy targeting Neale instead of the ball.

    1. 21 players. Lycett’s preoccupied with what has become his primary mission in life: accumulating points for the mighty Salamander!

    1. Given their attacking style, and the copycat treatment that premiership teams tend to get, it would be a very good thing for the game if they did.

Plus, they’d be the first premiership team since Geelong in 2009 to have lost to Carlton!

  3. Any chance Port make some adjustments and take the tag off of Lachie Neale? SC aside, it just hasn’t worked.

    1. Around 2400~ I’d say, Hynsi. Lots of underperforming premos and the Cogs donut.

There will be a few monsters though.

And some nice updates for my players, particularly Gray … wasn’t watching the match, but saw the last few minutes and heard commentators mention that Gray was up forward for most of first half, only 8 possies … played in guts second half and killed it … Hinkley is a muppet if he keeps playing him forward …

My best score all year – thanks Dunkley and honourable subs in Clarke and Setters …

    1. Afl coaches are paid a lot of money , imagine if we seemed to have no idea in our line of work.
Grayhas killed it in midfield lately , i assume he put no impact rocky in mids, no junk time this week for rocky.
