Game Chat – Richmond v Hawthorn

Written by Motts on August 21 2021

Where and when: The ‘G at 1:35pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Round 2, 2021: Hawthorn 7.7 (49) DEF BY Richmond 11.12 (78) at The MCG

Last five: Richmond 2-3, Hawthorn 3-1-1

Match Preview: Isn’t it amazing how fast it happens. Richmond have been the measuring stick for 4 years cashing in to the tune of 3 flags but the fire that fueled the machine dwindled during the first half of the year and then was extinguished altogether last week by GWS – ironically the team The Tigers had embarrassed on their way to winning the second of those three premierships. Whilst the wholesale changes they’ve made to the team this week suggests Dimma’s thrown in the towel, in the opposing coaches box sits a man for whom the fire burns as brightly as ever who will be guiding The Hawks team for the 390th and final time. He (and I suspect the team) will be driven to show once again that the Club President made the wrong decision by prematurely shipping him off in favour of his young protege.

Mottsy Watch:

Richmond
Some desire to win (but I have a feeling the majority already have their off season vacations booked and mentally are already on them).
Hawthorn

How the players farewell the best coach of our generation.

Mottsy’s Tip: Hawthorn by 60 (tipping record 42/61).
