Game Chat – StKilda vs Geelong

Written by Father Dougal on April 23 2017

Venue: Etihad Stadium, Sunday, April 23, 3.20pm AEST

Last Time They Met: R14, 2016, St Kilda 14.9 (93) d Geelong 13.12 (90) at Etihad Stadium
R21, 2015, St Kilda 14.13 (97) drew Geelong 15.7 (97) at Etihad Stadium

Game notes: St Kilda has its season back on an even ledger at 2-2 without having played its best football. It comes into this game on the back of two relatively scrappy wins against the Brisbane Lions and Collingwood and will likely need to be cleaner with the ball against Geelong to cause an upset. The speed the Saints have plays well under the roof at Etihad Stadium and will cause concerns for the Cats. By Chris Scott’s own admission, his side isn’t at its best despite sitting unbeaten through the first four rounds. Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood have typically been in excellent form but impressive contributions from the likes of Tom Hawkins, Mitch Duncan and Steven Motlop are what can make this side a premiership contender.

  1. Not sure who to captain. Bit wary of Danger after last week’s corkie and his poor record against st kilda.

T/U – go for Danger anyway
    T/D – Selwood

  2. Have to wait until I can be sure Hannen is out for tomorrow’s clash before I take Fyfes score , there was no mention of him in the best players or goals with Casey yesterday, so very wary. If it turns out that he does play it leaves me the following to captain in Tuesday’s clash
    TU Treloar
    TD Adams

  4. I was planning to switch to watching the Hawks & Eagles when that match came on, but hard to think it will be better than this one!

  6. Danger. The thoughts of a nation are with you. Have one of your super 2nd halves and get a nice 130 x2 for us.

    1. Well he did, 2 goals and a good improvement.

      No 130 game though.

Selwood over 40 possies – absolute blinder. 170 AF, dunno what in SC yet.

          1. The 100 will only be in his price cycle for one week though, as soon as that drops out, if he’s rolling a couple of 40-50s he really won’t make much cash short term at all.

            He’s averaged 77 (3 x 100) before in a season so it’s not like this 100 was a flash in the pan.

  9. Roo and Steele. A collective 6pts for the quarter.

My team meeting scheduled for Wed 9am will shine the spotlight on how they’ve let the rest of my team down. Might even give Roo a spray so the younger lads can see I’m serious. Thought they’d have learnt from JMac, JOM and Millsy all getting the chop that I don’t tolerate mediocrity this season.
