Game Chat – Saturday Arvo, R23

Written by MJ on August 30 2014

What a fantastic afternoon of football we have lined up in front of us today. Three games – all influence the final 8 placings.

Carlton v Essendon – The Dons have got a top 8 spot sewn up, it’s just a matter of whether that’s going to be 7th or 8th. A win here would secure 7th, while a loss could be detrimental if the Tigers get up against the Swans, as there’s a chance they’ll drop to 8th and have to play outside of Melbourne in the Elimination Final. Either way, you can’t see them risking Heppell or Goddard if they are carrying anything whatsoever. Keep an eye out for late changes in the case you own either of those two. The Blues have nothing but pride to play for here, but I’m sure they don’t like losing to the Red and Black in any circumstance.

Fremantle v Port Adelaide – This one promises to be a blockbuster. The winner receives the double chance in 4th position and a match-up against the Swans in Sydney next week. The loser will play 8th in a home Elimination final. Absolutely anyone’s game.

Sydney v Richmond – Who would’ve thought the Tigers would be playing for a final’s position after they were 3-10? Having won eight in a row for the first time since the great year of 1980, it’d be a cruel end to miss September action and finish… 9th. Will Sydney pull a few late withdrawals with 1st spot guaranteed? There’s no doubt Richmond have much more on the line. I’m allowed to say it: GO TIGES!

  3. Hey guys, opponents have the edge on me at the moment in my Grand Finals and I’ll need a huge VC score from a unique in order to stay alive.

    So:

T/U – Goddard v the Blues (what I’ve got set right now)
    T/D – Parker v the Tigers

I plan on going Sloane as C against the Saints if the VC backfires.

    Cheers community

  8. I normally revel in Richmond’s failures but this time round I really want them to pull off the mathematical miracle and make finals from 3-10.
