Game Chat – St Kilda v North Melbourne

Written by Father Dougal on August 26 2018

WHERE AND WHEN: Etihad Stadium, Sunday, August 26, 4.40PM AEST

St Kilda’s Good Friday loss to North Melbourne earlier this year saw its season fall into a tailspin, and despite finals being out of the question for both sides, that alone should motivate the Saints. For the Roos, their key forward Ben Brown sits two goals behind Coleman Medal leader and Richmond star Jack Riewoldt going into round 23, so they will likely look for him whenever possible to boost his tally. Furthermore, several players on both sides will be doing all they can to earn a new contract. North has key talls Jarrad Waite and Scott Thompson yet to sign up, and both will want to make compelling cases for new deals. Similarly. Jack Lonie is coming off a four-goal haul against Hawthorn last week and his impressive form in the past few weeks must be making the Saints think hard about signing him on again.

R2, 2018, North Melbourne 13.17 (95) d St Kilda 5.13 (43) at Etihad Stadium
R22, 2017, St Kilda 18.19 (127) d North Melbourne 12.6 (78) at Etihad Stadium
R13, 2017, St Kilda 12.17 (89) d North Melbourne 10.12 (72) at Etihad Stadium
R19, 2016, North Melbourne 12.13 (85) d St Kilda 8.14 (62) at Etihad Stadium
R7, 2016, North Melbourne 11.16 (82) d St Kilda 11.9 (75) at Etihad Stadium

Hutta’s Tip: The Shinboners by 40 points.

  2. A tinge of sadness for the last game of the SC year.

I”m hoping allsaints and Father D can put a FPL post together maybe on a Tues ?

We could run a combo of “How did you go” and “Rate my team thread” and then just comment on potential trades.

Looks like I won a lowly ranked GF.
My opponent had Buddy and no cover.

Good luck to anyone involved in a close one.

  3. hey FT

definitely sad that the season is coming to an end, but i do have a well-timed month in Europe to enjoy come Tuesday night, back on GrandFinal eve!

am really not that bothered about FPL i’m afraid. Put it this way, I won’t be checking my team while i’m away and haven’t bothered to look at any community/research sites, so am not sure i’ll be able to offer any sort of input.

i see that Jeannot is particularly interested and FD is all over it (enjoys it), so maybe they could take a lead on this.

i will however be writing a fair bit on what i’ve learned re SC from this wonderful site over the past 9 months and will be sharing that with Schwarz over the off-season. if it’s deemed post-worthy come pre-season 2019 for other relative newbies to the site then that’d be awesome.

am really gonna miss it. still, have started planning in earnest for 2019 😉

    can’t wait!

    1. Enjoy ur time in Europe allsaints, was spending my afternoon here in Bucharest, Romania listening to the Roos, Saints game in a park here on SEN drink $1.70 500ml full strength cans of beer, damn its hot, best be getting another

  4. Jimmy Webster you are a SPUD. No saints players for me next year, whoever they pick up, despite my ‘handle’ (name) on here!

  5. Only need Billings to score 24 to win my most important league. I figured the only risk was him getting injured early. Now it seems he may struggle to score that in 4 quarters.
