Venue: Etihad Stadium at 7:50pm AEST

LAST FIVE TIMES
R5, 2016, GWS Giants 19.12 (126) d St Kilda 12.7 (79) at Etihad Stadium
R15, 2015, GWS Giants 12.12 (84) d St Kilda 6.13 (49) at Spotless Stadium
R1, 2015, GWS Giants 12.15 (87) d St Kilda 11.12 (78) at Etihad Stadium
R2, 2014, St Kilda 15.5 (95) d GWS Giants 13.10 (88) at Etihad Stadium
R3, 2013, St Kilda 21.14 (140) d GWS Giants 10.8 (68) at Manuka Oval

Game notes: St Kilda makes its return to Friday night footy for the first time in more than two years. The Saints were thumped by Collingwood by 74 points that night and will want a better showing in their first of four chances in the marquee timeslot this year. Making matters tough will be its opponent, with GWS having won five on the trot. Leon Cameron’s side boasts the second-most miserly defence in the competition while they have scored the fourth-most points, and the midfield is studded with stars. The Saints have reason to be confident though after a comprehensive win against Hawthorn showcased a dangerous forward line, with Nick Riewoldt, Josh Bruce and Tim Membrey combining for 10 goals. Jack Steven has returned from a punctured lung in excellent form while Seb Ross and Koby Stevens offer hard bodies to combat the gun Giants onballers.

Thommo’s Tip: GWS by 30 points

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  6. Anyone else think that Roo looks like he’s carrying something? Just can’t get moving like he usually does.

  7. I noticed two things tonight… Josh Bruce is taller than I thought, and his legs look really short. What’s with that?

  10. Steele had 9/16 contested possessions at 93.8% D.E., plus seven tackles and two one-percenters. Surely he deserves more than 79?

  11. One of our best wins even if i traded out Billings last week. Roo does’nt look right, needs a rest i think. He only got 23 pts but Longer done a magic job on Mummy, not many ruckmen have done that well on him.

  12. I had zac williams last season, felt he was sold short a few times , well tonight i thought he had a a lot of errors and scored a ninety ? and heater was only average !
looking a bit older and slower.

    1. Zac Williams is like Heath Shaw, except younger, cheaper, and with higher average . Well, he was cheaper, he’s now just a bit more expensive.

It’s like Zac is the old Heath, and Heath is the new Heath. Er, Zac is new Heath, and Heath is….I give up.

      1. Last year Zac would match Heaters stats and score 30 points less , this year they seem to be about level , are the CD scorers star struck.(Bont)
