R5, 2014, Sydney Swans 13.14 (92) d Fremantle Dockers 11.9 (75) at the SCG

Game notes: Fremantle makes a rare trip to Sydney for a clash with the Swans, and it looms as a tough assignment for Ross Lyon’s team who showed some good signs in their win over the Suns last week, just their second from their past 10 games. Sydney bounced back from a loss to Hawthorn to smash Geelong and reaffirm its status as a premiership contender, and they’ll be keen to show how ruthless they are against the Dockers. In captain Nat Fyfe, Lachie Neale and the Hill brothers, Stephen and Bradley, the visitors have some quality in the midfield, but the Swans’ miserly defence is settled and in form, so it’s hard to see Fremantle kicking a big enough score to cause the home side any trouble. At the other end it’s a different story, with Lance Franklin, Sam Reid and Tom Papley likely to give the Freo backs plenty of headaches.

Thommo’s Tip: Sydney by 45 points.

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  2. Welcome Hanners. No JPK again, easy match up this week. All I want is 95-105 the next 3 weeks and I’ll be content.

  5. Newman coming off. Kicked in the thigh and knee went back. Looks like a hyper-extension, iced up and day looks done.
