Game Chat – Sydney vs GWS

Written by Thommo on April 17 2021

Where and when: SCG, Saturday 17th April, 4:35pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Round 12, 2020: Sydney 10.6 (66) def GWS 3.7 (25) at Optus Stadium, WA.

Coniglio best described the Giants as “Hopeless” after this smashing in which all of the Giants’ goals came from free-kicks. And surprisingly the Giants had a full list to select from with Williams, Kelly, Whitfield, Cameron, Ward and Coniglio all playing. Just the normal rubbish from the inconsistent Giants and stellar form from the young Swans.

Match Preview: What an interesting match up! The Swans are as young as ever with Rampe and Heeney out injured but they are rightful favourites given their undefeated start to the season. The Giants finally won last week with an impressive return to form against the Pies and they may have rediscovered their mojo with Big Mummy throwing his weight around in the packs. On form alone, the Swans win but they look gettable with their very young list.

Thommo’s Watch:

Sydney

I’m still on rookie watch at Sydney with Campbell, Errol and Warner holding up my pathetic guns!

GWS

I would say Flynn if he was playing! I’m done with the Giants until Cameron gets the sack and they get a capable coach!

Kiss of Death (4 from 12): Sydney by 18 points.

  2. Don’t know about you guys but I got a feeling giants will get up today. My tip is giants by 20 and Toby to win Brett Kirk medal

  3. Mumford looks angry at being made to play 2 weeks running and he’s intent on getting a tribunal enforced rest after this week

    1. Mummy is always angry unless there is sausages or pies involved.

Actually, I think he’s still angry then as well.

    1. Brought him in…. wondering why I didn’t grab him earlier, but lets face it there’s been carnage to deal with.

Luckily for me at least it was ruck carnage this week, meaning I had to choose him or Grundy.

Close call, but Grundy against NicNat and shared role tipped me over the line. The Collingwood midfield woes make me wonder how Grundy is gonna keep getting big hundreds.

      1. FMSC. On fire for most of 3 Quarters then injured the week I trade him in.

        Fingers crossed for next week.

    1. Was hopeful before Qtr Time. Gone next week for Macrae or similar. I’ve got a $650k war chest.

    1. I would have kept Daniel if I knew that Clark would be dropped.

But team timing meant that I needed to double my chances of cover.

Now i have potentially the same timing issue next week with St Kilda versus Port last. Don’t know if Highmore or Jones will be named for most of the matches.
