  1. Great idea. Who has got their r2 trades sorted ? I note with some mirth that Gawn is high amongst the most traded out players, and Jacobs and Naismith are high amongst those traded in. I seem to recall Gawn getting 80 something SC R1 in 2019 !!!
For me, its probably going to be McAsey to Doedee, and Parish to either Sturt or S Hill. Will then have enough $ to get another uber mid r3.

    1. Wighty, We may find that we have a bigger , urgent problem to deal with first. With All this time off, many injured players will be in contention for best 22. That will mean the job security of some of the rookies may change too. And considering he didn’t get many this year, it is not good news.
Doodee and Buddy are the one on my radar to come in . I may need to sell to get the funds.

      1. I agree…rookies are at most risk. Gonna be fun when clubs return to training and the fitness notes start flowing !!
I’m happy to pass on Buddy….a 32yo or whatever kpp doesn’t do it, but he will still destroy my bombers as uual.

        1. I got your point, I remember Hooker chasing Buddy, that was bad… I am just thinking he will be hungry coming back, forgot the age thing. Duh

Some players are true professionals and will self motivate to stay really fit. Others will drop off. It would be like a new preseason because I don’t think the Afl will give them more than a month. I am nervous not owning Titch . Looks like he is getting fitter by the day.

          1. Sound comment. I was there for the Buddy/Hooker chase…..obvious Hooks would not catch him, but despite his knees about to collapse under him, he refused to stop chasing. I think he started 5 metres behind and finished 15 behind !!
I remember the great FD in an article early this year about tadpoles and frogs, and how most of them, no matter how loved, are 30+. That’s why I have thanked Danger for his services and moved him on….like Buddy, he will have his 150 day or two, but his averages will surely continue to fall.
Titch is my first upgrade target.

  2. Just wondering whether any of us have tried to look ahead, planning to get to maximum premos asap as in previous years. Usually we can be thereabouts come finals, but with only 17 rounds, and presumably no three trade rounds due to no byes, this looks less likely this year.

I can see myself with a full team onfield come finals, but probably only 17/18 ubers….unless all my rookies are ROB of 2019, plus D Smith and McGrath.

What about the rest of you ??

    1. ‘Evening All,
My nightmare is Viney v GWS and Dunkley v Carlton.
Will Viney be the one tagged?
      Will Dunkley be played forward?
StK v WC and Freo v Hawks makes it hard for Roberton and Brayshaw, an’ then Howe v Richmond…..all depends on Viney or Dunkley decision……oh why can’t we have 3 trades like the other comp?……especially if we still don’t have final lockout til last game and only have a couple of days between rounds.

      Thoughts?…

      1. At least we are “all in this together” !!!

I have made at least a dozen different changes of two each and I’m sure I still haven’t got my final r2 team.

      2. Surely De Boer will play on Oliver? Well, I hope so.
The whole dog team played badly R1. Bevo Will make changes. All this time with no footy he was certainly playing different scenarios…:) Dunkley better stay in mid?

        1. With Hunter missing 4 games (whenever that is) Dunkley’s chances of midfield time would have to have improved.

  3. Gidday everybody, I have some thoughts I wish to share with you.

    1. SC to pay out the rd1 winner then begin again.
    2. Unlimited trades with 3 trades per rd while catch games are played
    3. Revert to 2 trades per rd when back to normal

    My reasoning is,
    1. All clubs will be at full strenght
    2. several of our selected rookies will suffer because of the above
    3. Need to rethink team stucture & personnel with multiply games planned
Just my thoughts, have had plenty of time to think about it.

    4

    2
    1. Willy Guns, you make few good points there. The only problem is that unfortunately the game has started R1. Whatever readjustment they do, it would be bad sports to change the rules of a game or an election after the first ball is bowled . The fairest thing is to cancel SC altogether if they won’t be able to play the 17 games.
I just like the fun of scrambling to adapt as you go and everyone will be in the same boat. The winner this year will be the last man standing anyway , and we will all feel some sense of « hard done by » Because of the special circumstances. People started their teams based on the first changes.
Will just be happy AFL is back, resort style or not.

      4

  4. Interesting ideas WG. I reckon its hard enough to navigate all the SC rules as it is without further adding to the complexity. Everyone’s position after r1 was a result of the rules as we have known them. Its just as unfair to penalise those who started Viney, Shiel, Naismith etc…as give a leg up to those who had Bont, Dunks, Danger etc….
I personally think the environment we at SC will have to face will add intrigue, and the cream will rise to the top. Will those wanting to trade Gawn for Naismith or Sauce really be able to get Gawn back in 16 rounds, especially if they have spent the $ elsewhere.

  5. How many trades do you think is the appropriate amount for each team to be granted once we resume? I have a feeling 5 free trades may be necessary.

    3

    1. Interesting proposition. I reckon they might go three trades for the first two rounds back, then revert to normal.
Dont think we will have long to wait !!!!

      1

  6. Any thoughts on how the revised SC fixture will look ?? With only 13 matches each pre finals, there will be four teams in an 18 team league that we all don’t play.

    2

    1. ‘Evening Wighty,
How about something along the lines of all Victorian based teams only playing 1 representative team from each of the foreign states instead of both?…….

……or maybe something along the lines of WA, SA and 5 Vics + QLD, NSW and 5 Vics and the bye teams play each other???

Oh if only there was 16 teams and not 18 then I could give an (IMO) ideal yearly format similar to the Sub-District cricket one I played under……ah those were the days……

      0

      1. Lots of possibilities, but I was actually pondering more about the equity of a SC season where there are 18 in a league, but there will only be 13 match ups pre finals (rds 14-17). Every team will not play four other teams from the same league.

        0

        0
        1. Yeah apologies Wighty, I missed the key “SC” and was thinking (?) you ment the other league, AFL.

…..maybe we have enough “Interstateions” in our comps to ponder……LOL

          0

  7. Frustrating news that SA is now playing hard ball along with WA. Looks like this season is just not going to resume.

    2
    1. Yeah, certainly not. The Premier and the Deputy Health commissioner with different stories also not a good omen nor a good look for the state and their politics!!

      1

      1. It’s probably just a jealous political vendetta against how good
your (our) SuperCoach Comp scores were……LOL

    2. I think the AFL needs call them out in one of two ways.

      1. Schedule all the W.A. and S.A. clubs games on the eastern seaboard……the clubs effectively enter a hub.

      2. Just go ahead and do a normal fixture and if they don’t turn up, they forfeit the points.

I think the local club members might put just a little pressure on their State governments in the above scenarios. In suggesting this, I will of course bow to any expert medical opinion saying
that travel for ANY reason is not acceptable.

And hoping not to sound too political, but I reckon this whole episode shows why a single Federal response would have been the best way.

  8. What are peoples thoughts on if there’s no season or the season doesn’t get finished what happens to the draft?

And do they just use the same draft order as last year?

  9. It’s been a while since I looked at my supercoach side. Feels like a life time ago. With that in mind, here are my trades for the much anticipated round 2

Laurence Angwin out and young Nick Riewoldt in. I think Riewoldt has a good career in front of him. Not so sure about Angwin

Craig Bradley out for Shane Woewodin. I think Bradley is past it and I just have a feeling Woewodin is in for a big year. Call me crazy but I’m thinking of putting a pineapple on him for the Brownlow

    18

    0
  10. I think this a bit hasty Zac…..gotta preserve those trades !! I don’t think Riewoldt will be a player. I hear a bloke called Coleman might make his debut at the bombers, and is def worth a look as a rookie forward.

I’m not a risk taker, but if Woewodin wins a brownlow I’ll….(insert whatever you like here !!)

  12. Hey guys! Hope you’ve all been well.
what’s up? Have i missed anything crucial? Injuries or confirmed position changes, the rules for supercoach in general? Stuff like that.
Been totally oblivious to all footy since lock down. But the itch is coming back strong now.

    1. Welcome back TOF. Same here. Looks like the job security of few rookies will be at risk with the return of so many injured players. We probably need to wait two weeks to assess as some may get injured during training.
      Excited AFL will be back

      4

      0
      1. Spot on. With a shortened season, can’t afford to have more than a c loop emergency not scoring. The likes of Doedee might have to be ignored as they will take at least an extra week to rise in price as will all players who didn’t play round 1. S Hill now off my watch list for the same reason.
Emergency loops on multiple lines not now an option either.

        2

  13. Hey everyone, a little bit of injury news to share, Treloar has done a calf 1st day back at training. Length of time off unknown, also Robbie Gray has a toe injury, again not sure on timeframe to return.

        1. No Wighty the 5 trades you have an offer before Round 2 come out of the 30 allocates trades for the season. So if you only use 4 then you have 26 trades left for the season rather than 25.Anyway that is what happening on the SC site at the moment once you use 5 trades you are left with 25 trades.

          2

          0
  14. I am going to use the 5 trades to fix my mid prices and balance my fwds and backs better. I think with a shorter season and shorter quarters going with more expeirenced palyers might be the better option.

      1. Gidday Baz, I just paid the $20 for SC stats, maybe thats why I can access some articles. To answer your question, taken from the article.

“Every player who registered b4 rd1 can use up to 5 trades for rd2 only
The 5 trades are part of the allocated 30. You dont have to use all trades.”

        They are not “FREE”

        3

        0
          1. The price of gold changes. There’s only 17 rounds this season so trades aren’t as precious as in previous seasons.

            4

            0
            1. Further, if you do the numbers on it and use your max trades per round (5 this round and then 2 per round) you’ll have one trade going into R15. Think we can totally afford to go hard on trades this year.

              3

              0
              1. 17 regular rounds and then 4 rounds of finals, I’d want some trades in at least 2 finals rounds.

  15. Hey guys,
Bloody excited for SuperCoach (and footy in general) to be back. Great to see the regulars have still been chatting SC during the lockdown. To be honest, I hadn’t looked at my team for over a month, but time to get the brain back into SuperCoach mode! I hope you are all feeling fit and healthy and I’m looking forward to all the chat, fun and banter during the season. Cheers guys, DR ✌️

  16. shorter quarters down to 16 minutes will effect SC scores, makes it just that little bit harder, 2100 will probably be a good score this year.

    0

    5
    1. If they keep the pts per game the same, scaling will deliver similar high points as previous years.

      7

  17. do we drop WA and SA players given most of their games in the first half of the season at least will probably be away games?

    0

    3
    1. Powerplay I don’t think having WA/SA side in Queensland will effect their scores to much, playing Gold Coast should be OK, Brisbane may give them a run but all other games will be equal as they are both away like having a game in Darwin, they will be there at least two weeks prior to season start.

  18. Who should I trade in:
    TU: Martin
    TD: Heeney

Leaning toward Heeney as a point of difference since 65% own Martin

      1. Buddy didn’t play in round 1 either.
Could/Should/Will be almost same team layout except for the bench.

  20. Just for fun, I looked at what would have been the best possible starting team. Came up with this…

Howe Noble Ridley Burgoyne Pet/Seton Hurn (Brander/Starcevich)

Pickett Neale Shiels Viney Cunnington Perryman Mcgrath (Roberton/Brown/McHenry)

    Jacobs Naismith (Conroy)

Wingard Simpkin Long Rozee Mihocek Heeney (Budarick Close)

Team Value $9945100 Pts 3103 with Viney C

Oh for hindsight. Can anyone come up with a better scoring team ?

  22. Was thinking of trading Jake Lloyd and Clayton Oliver to Shannon Hurn and Adam Treloar. Should I do this trade or is it a waste?

    T/up – Yes, it’s worth it

    T/down – No, don’t do it

    2

  23. Can people please check their private leagues that I was in for Rd 1 and see if I’m still listed, Motts, Wighty etc.

Has anyone got any info as to why?

  24. News out of the Dees that Bennell, Rivers and Jackson all named to debut – anyone interested??

Tech leagues will be happy as Rivers is already there as a handy DPP.

    1. Rivers for me. The Dees coach generally gives young guys two games in a row to show their worth.

  25. Trading macpherson and not sure who too and would appreciate some thumbs lads and ladettes

    T/U – Rozee
    T/D – Wingard

Comment anyone else you think could be decent in the 450k and under range (already have Smith and Bewley). Thanks guys 🙂

    1. Have any way of bring in Howe using someone’s DPP or a second trade? Otherwise Fort and Ceglar both good options. Go Ceglar for scoring and ruck cover, or Fort for cash generation.

      2

      0
    2. Simpkin or long, with a Sneaky look at Acres if he gets a guernsey. Around $380k and DPP for Jy and Blake with Ben $100k cheaper.

  26. And just a word to the wise folks in case you haven’t already thought / addressed:

don’t forget to reverse any trades that you may have done (like me) straight after round 1 finished!! Just in case you aren’t planning any trades tomorrow night … if you have those ‘old trades’ still in there, don’t forget that you will be locked top them once the match starts!!

  27. Help a guy out please fellas
Got myself in a bind, feel i need to make 5 trades.
Current team with $181 in bank
DEF> Houston, Doch, Robert, Noble, BAT, Starcev, (Z.Guthrie, Brander)
MID> Fyfe, Cripps, Bont, Conig, Dusty, Rowell, Picket, McInnerney, (Anderson, Green, Brown)
    RUC> Grundy, Gawn, (Conroy)
FWD> Whitfield, Walters, Heeney, KKP, Georgie, Taylor, (M.King, Buderick)

    OK, so thinking…..
    OUTS……. INS
    Gutherie,….. Rivers
    BZT,…. Doedee
    Green ,….Bennell
Georgie,…. Danger, (Dusty fwd) or Hurn, (Brander fwd)
    Gawn (for cash reason),…. Jacobs

    thoughts please. Really struggling

    0

    1
    1. Hey Kanga, just my opinion but I would concentrate on fixing your defenders – the other lines look good.
OUT: BZT, Guthrie and Green – move Budarick to the mids
IN: Rivers, Sturt and whichever defender you can afford that you like – maybe a Jeremy Howe or similar?

Save your other trades for later, or make a luxury swap if you’re really keen

      1

      0
    2. I would just be a bit concerned about bringing in three, Rivers/Doedee/Bennell, that will give you no immediate cash boost, and must have some js doubts. This year it is all about cash, and getting to premo asap of course. What do you do if any of those three miss next week. The likes of Sturt/McInerney/Robertson/Davis/T Brown/Taylor etc..all will give an immediate cash boost if selected. I’d be looking there.

      0

  28. Tu: it worth bringing on rivers for bzt and take Neale orr
Td: bring in Darcy Cameron for a dud and take Mitchel

    ???

    7

    1
  29. OUT – BZT, MacPherson, Brayshaw, Cavarra
IN – Rivers, Howe (via DPP), D.Smith, Sturt

    $135,000 remaining

Would leave my Noble at D6 but my forward line with 4 rookies on field (Sturt, Taylor, Brander & Budarick)

Or I can also trade Green > Bennell and get Heeney!

    2

    0
  30. D.Roberton out for –
    T/U doedee
    T/D rivers
leaning towards rivers as would bank $140 aprox, and thinking they could score about the same, but does anyone know what his JS is like?

    2

    2
  31. TU lock away Grundys 115 into 230 via V/C loopy (opponent had the C on him)
TD Neale, Fyfe better C options

    3

    1
    1. Roll the dice I reckon – 115 isn’t great

I’m gambling on Dunkley to go huge against the Saints!

      2

      1
    2. Got the same dilemma…..imagine if we put the c on say neale and its a hammy in q1.
A bird in the hand……reckon we are looking for an extra 25-30 pts, but risking 115. I’m sticking with Grundy.

      0

      0
  32. With Sturt out injured, I’m facing a grim choice for last Fwd
    TU Max King
    TD Conor Buderick
