  1. Treloar – majority of his remaining games are at MCG, where his scoring has not been outstanding this year. also Adams return may impact his scoring. playing for a team that will be fighting for top 4.
JPK – unlikely to score 140+, but has been very consistent 100-120 aside from his injured games this year. playing for a team that will miss finals.

    Who to pick?

    TU: Treloar
    TD: JPK

  2. Pretty happy with my decision to keep Smith over Andrews. Thanks for pushing me in the right direction SC Talkers!

    1. I’ve got plenty of trades, so going sideways on Fyfe. Really want Bont, but am worried about the ankle.

      So the question is:
      TU Bont
      TD Treloar

Already have, Cripps, Neale, Macrae, Oliver, Slone, M Crouch

  3. Working all weekend as usual, so can’t guarantee being able to make late changes.
TU : Take Clarke’s 77 for Fyfe, but risk a 0 if another late out.
TD: Leave the E on Setters as well and just hope they score about the same.

  4. It’s Saturday morning and I’m still to decide on a Coniglio replacement. Can someone please provide a good method for deciding between Treloar, Yeo, Kennedy, Duncan and Taranto. I don’t care how irrelevant or silly it is….

    1. Taranto.
      1. He plays for the SC friendliest side in the comp
      2. With Kelly and Cogs out that has to be a good thing > his ave. over the next six games SHOULD improve?!
      3. Relative POD and
      4. His name: he could be an indigenous American hero and an award-winning film director rolled into one 😉

    2. Buy a pack of M&M’s. Pull them out of the bag one-by-one and give them a midfielders name in descending order of 5 round average. Hire one of those guys that write on a grain of rice and get them to write the players full season statistics on the BACK of the M&M. Has to be the back!!! The front is where I need you to draw a lifelike drawing of said player. Perhaps you could hire that guy who does all the team of the century paintings. The next stage is to pair the M&M’s in H2H contests featuring different feats of strength. Winning M&M advances to the next stage of the tournament whereas the loser is thrown into the waters of the Yarra as a sacrifice to the SuperCoach Gods. Also, that’s what us Melburnians do with our rubbish in modern times anyway. Last M&M standing is your Cogs replacement. Unless you’ve got a random hunch on a fella you’ve probably never watched play, in which case, get him. It worked super well for me when I drafted Jack Bowes into my team earlier in the season.

    3. Chillo:

Whilst durable, consistent and usually operates with high disposal efficiency, Duncan doesn’t possess a similar ceiling to the other options listed in the quintet but has a favourable end to the season consisting of Haw, Syd, Freo, NM, Bris and GC and this is the 3rd consecutive season he has averaged 110+ in wins with an avg of 111.38 from his past 40 wins since 2017 with 11/40 below 100, 13/40 120+.

Treloar is a solid selection but is the most expensive of the quintet and whilst a large accumulator of the ball he is significantly hampered by his disposal efficiency.

Taranto has posted 25% of score below in 80 in 2019 as well as 25% above 120 and could potentially benefit from the trio of Ward, Coniglio and Kelly all currently absent. Averages 6.31 tackles and boasts a CPR of 39.77% in conjunction with an appealing match up against the Suns in RD23 which could compensate if he registers a couple of average/poor scores in the lead-up.

After a poor opening month from both an SC and tackles perspective (15 Tackles in 4 matches) he has registered an astronomic 105 tackles in the past 11 rounds at an avg of 9.55 which compensates for his low disposal avg (23.6). Recorded less than 100 on 7/15 occasions in 2019 with the remainder all above 110.

Kennedy has returned to an avg in excess of 105 largely thanks to returning to a disposal avg greater than 27 in conjunction with recording in excess of 6 tackles to return to his usual SC output. Only 2 scores under 90 in 2019 both occurring when he recorded less than 70% TOG with an avg of 113.45 from his other 11 matches.

My ranking of the quintet would be:
      1. J Kennedy (Syd)
      2. A Treloar
      3. E Yeo
      4. M Duncan
      5. T Taranto

      1. Thanks Adam and everyone. I’ve decided to go for Yeo because
        (a) I talked him up all preseason until he got injured
        (b) I only have one Eagle in my team, whereas I already have at least two from the other candidates’ clubs
        (c) it’s fun to yell his name at the TV every time he does something good, and
        (d) even though Yeo doesn’t have a perm, I do have a soft spot for players from the west who tackle like maniacs.

  5. Agonizing over who to VC.

Down to Cripps and Neale. Still concerned Cripps is carrying something in his foot after going 9:19 in kicks to handballs last week, but if he pops off and double tonnes my weekend will be ruined.

Neale should be good for another 140~ and I can forsee CD feeding him points in what will be a close match.

    T.U: Cripps
    T.D: Neale

        1. Wouldn’t bother about selecting Marshall due to the aforementioned players possessing a higher ceiling in conjunction with Marshall unlikely to significantly benefit from the match-up as Marshall only operates at a 25.06% HTA rate (102/407). The majority of his points are received from his work around the ground (disposals, contested possessions, tackles, etc).

Good luck if you do decide to execute the option.

          1

          1
          1. Ah, okay. You don’t think he’ll benefit from rucking v English at all though? Think that’s a bit stiff, Adam. Granted most of his points come from work around the ground, he’ll win at least 75% of the ruck contests v English you’d think. With the small stature of the Dogs, think he’ll have a few marks and maybe a goal as well.

Noted though, Adam. Will mull it over. VC on Cripps either way though?

            1. Still a great option but he’s only recorded 2 scores above 130+ this season in comparison to Neale posting 7 and Cripps’s 3 (all above 155+) who I think both should be safer to post a captain worthy score as well as possessing the higher ceiling.

He could register a score similar to his performance against Richmond in RD15 but I think he’s more likely to score in his usual 110-130 range. Also another factor is assessing some of your moves this season you seem to favour more riskier selections whereas regarding captains I’m more risk averse.

Also by removing him from the captaincy situation it will avoid your VC conundrum.

              1. Yeah, I’m secretly hoping Marshall replicates his score in the Richmond game. You make an excellent point though, Adam.

Suppose if Marshall does go huge I should just enjoy it. Better yet, if Cripps can just score 150+ and put this matter to bed.

                Tyvm, Adam.

    1. Both good options. I went Cripps only because he is playing the suns. Now u have me questioning my decision.

    2. Hey GD – just on Cripps as well … his kick to handball ratio is ( mostly below 0.4) – the odd game now and then when her gets to parity … so lats week could be basically considered “normal” – see stats below … he was 1 for 1 in round 4, scoring 169 in SC … in a 2 point loss …

      Round Opponent K HB
       Round 17 Swans 9 19
       Round 13 Bulldogs 6 16
       Round 12 Lions 18 20
       Round 11 Bombers 2 9
       Round 10 Saints 10 18
       Round 9 Giants 3 9
       Round 8 Magpies 11 24
       Round 7 Kangaroos 8 18
       Round 6 Hawks 11 17
       Round 5 Bulldogs 5 32
       Round 4 Suns 15 15
       Round 3 Swans 16 12
       Round 2 Power 16 16
       Round 1 Tigers 10 22

  6. Who to put on field out of these two:

T/up – Jarrod Cameron (just not sure because if he doesn’t kick goals he doesn’t score very high)

T/down – Bewley (with Fyfe out)

  7. TECHTeam

I put the V on ROB thinking he’d go 170+. 149 is awesome, but I can’t help thinking Neale, Cripps, Grundy and Danger could all beat that comfortably.

Given TECHTeam is more of a giggle and I’m more inclined to take a risk …
    what would you do?

TU: take the 149 you greedy fu3ker
TD: take a punt on one of the others (in which case, pls comment on who)

    Thanks all 😉

  8. so I’ve done my real team trades for the week:

    D Moore > Jack CRISP
    J Kelly > Jack STEELE

$120k in BANK and good cover

TU: you idiot. Are you obsessed 😉
    TD: ballsy, I like it!

  9. I’m sure you’re obsessed with Steele AS!!

PLaying you in Cattas league this week mate … should I match your CRisp???
(I actually can hold off the trade with Brodie going 127 last night!!)

  10. Went against my gut and listened to the crowd and went Cripps instead of the usual Grundy. Never taking it off Grundy again. What the hell was I thinking?
Was at work, so didn’t have time to C Grundy.
My opponent had Grundy as VC. I need to make the right pick now.

  11. Just a little whinge, took vc off grundy on to cripps just before carlton game. Both league opponents had it on cripps. If i cover things it doesn’t work , whenever i take the punt it doesn’t work , anyway it is always my choice.

    1. Hadn’t bothered switching the VC from Grundy all week until around 12:00 odd when I gave it to Cripps. Who are you selecting as your C?

    2. i think i’m going with Marshall. Time to stop listening to others and going with your gut. Up against (ruckless) doggies and with Ratts IC in Game 1 …

yes i’m putting a lot on one game, bringing STEELE in this week too, but when you’re in the position I am, you might as well have a crack?!?

Also had the C on Marshall to start the week but will happily be taking ROB’s score. Hope he does you justice & those saints get up.

  13. Amateur hour question here: If I have two emergencies selected in the forward line and one of those emergencies doesn’t play, do I get the playing emergencies score for a non-playing forward?

    T/U: yes that’s correct
T/D: No it subs in the zero of the non playing emg.

  14. Friends, I need some sound advice. I’m playing golf today, and wont be able to make any moves till about 3pm….we have a no phones on the golf course policy in our group !!
My main league is so tight with six of us vying for the top four spots. Like others, I had v on Cripps…for the last time this year. Oppt has c on Macrae who I also have. At the moment I have c on Gawn, but could also go Danger or Dunks. At the moment, I think I have a 10-20 point win, but who knows ?? Bont out would make life easier.
    So,

    T/u stick with Gawn
T/d neutralise by c on Macrae

Best options I think are Gawn, Danger, Macrae, Dunkley or Marshall? Opponent has Grundy captain 🙁
