Gilbee v Gilbert

Written by Motts on June 10 2010

Unbelievably they’re both averaging 101.82. But Bert is a DPP while Bee is not. So is the DPP factor that important to you as we head into the pointy end of the season? If you didn’t have either of them, which one would you grab first?

Who to trade out of the TEAM? Mills &..............

    1. I would definetly go Gilbee if i had someone in my midfield that could DPP with. However, because i don’t it makes the decision very difficult. I am leaning towards Gilbert purely for consistency. He is the most consistent back to average over 100 behind Hodge.

  1. Agree with the above but wanted to add it’s always a good idea to check your opposition as it can help you make a decision where two players look very similar. In both of my leagues, most of the opposition have Gilbert and with the two so closely scoring and Gilbee the DPP I will choose the former (in a week or two when he comes down slightly more).

There can be good reason most of ya mates have bagged the same players, beware – but for me a little gamble at this time of the year is a bit of fun.

    1. Yeah, true. Have a look at the team on top of your ladder or the team you think you will meet in the grand final and find ways you can beat them, by choosing a similar player to theirs that you think is better. But choose carefully. Great example out of Gilbee/Gilbert.

  2. I’d take Sammy Gilbert, he’s got more improvement in him.

On another note, I’m about to break the number one rule of not trading sideways. But with higgins+ballantyne+$6000 i’m picking up ROK and Neon so it feels like an upgrade! They have to come into some form soon!

    1. I like that. Higgins has lost his title as ‘Mr. Consistency’ this year, and looks no where near how he used to play, IMO Barry Hall has forced him to play more midfield, last year Higgins kicked more goals. ROK looked good last week with a 93, so surely his form will come back anytime soon.

  3. Given the title I’ve got a trade dilemma.

I’ve traded Jetta for Gysberts in the mids and it’s given me enough cash to do the following:

Hooker/Maguire > Gilbert (Or just about everyone minus Lake and Johncock)

    or

    Hille > Sandilands

Gut feeling says to go with the ruck trade…

  4. Motts could you run a poll on if Brad Symes is worth bringing in
at $420,500, he has been in ripping form in the SANFL from 3 weeks he averages 27 disposals(32,25,25) kicked a goal in the third game and in the first two games had 11 and 7 marks. I will be bringing him in for Firrito.

    1. Why don’t you wait for two games to see how his form goes – his price won’t increase? At this stage of the season you should be trading in premium keepers, not throwing up prayers.

Hang on, i’m getting a deja vu feeling here – just can’t put my finger on it – blue and white, DP(P), foot, Jamie Brayshaw.

  5. boys and girls, this is one of the most important trades for me this year…
    my options are:
keeping in mind i have grundy and p davis so i can put davis fwd or back to do this trade:
    davis in def:
option1: howlett to gysberts, means i can do davis to gilbee
option2: maguire to henderson (def/fwd-swap with grundy) means i can go davis to scotland or gilbert?

    davis as a fwd:
option3: howlett to gysberts, means i can do davis to waite (def/fwd swap with grundy) or thomas.
option4: maguire to henderson, means i can go davis to franklin or didak.

im leaning towards option 2 henderson and gilbert and still give me flexibility with grundy, st kilda is going to steam home during finals!!
