When bringing in a gun, what 3 factors are most important to you?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. okay, I know that everyone has been saying upgrade mids over backs, but in my situation, I think j might be different.

Back – Gibbs, Goddard, Grimes (!!!), Hurley, Heppell, Toy, Pederson, Otten, A.Johnson

Midfield – Swan, Pendlebury, Boyd, Selwood, Harris, Liberatore, Curnow (!!!), D.Swallow, Pittard

    My options are

    Grimes —> Shaw
    leaves me with about $72,200
    or

    Grimes —> Puopolo
    Curnow —> Mundy/Priddis
    leaves me with about $205,000

If I do the second one, the week after I can trade a defender cash cow out and use extra money to buy shaw after he has gone down in price a bit.

  2. Good poll Motts. Depends on the stage of the season and the structure of my team, but I generally look for a consistency in scoring (I don’t like 150 one week then 50 the next), how well his team is going and, a bit of value in the price. I like a good bargain!

  3. Fix your def Ollie. How did you score last week without swan and pendles? I agree about the poll I could have voted for 4 of those points depending on the time of year, byes, who they play etc

  4. On another note regarding a punt this week, I really like Kangas and Tigers this week for value. North have beaten Melb 5-6 times in a row. Dees have not won since 07 I think. I watched the dogs and swans last week and i think tigers are a big chance. Dogs were horrible. Tigers and Kangas win is about $4.50

  5. I just can’t see cats getting close. Last years preliminary to now I believe collingwood have improved in many areas in comparison to Geelong. Especially with Hawkins mooney and j pod combining for about 10 kicks a game this year. I’m a swans man I would live the cats to knock em off but no chance IMO

  7. I reckon another factor when picking a gun is the amount of players your already have from a particular team, especially in a given line.. I would love to have another Freo gun like Mundy but on top of Broughton, Sandi, Lower and Pav I am concerned about overloading on them and would look at another player such as Boyd or Joey when he is back.

  8. My method is to try and get a min of 5 premiums in each position and slowly get rid of all players who have buys during the SC finals… Have just traded out Stevie J and on my trade out list for thia year are; Curnow, Murphy, Enright, selwood, petrie, Heppel and hibberd.

I know there are some great players in that list so I will just be waiting for the right time to pounce? depending upon BEs and upcoming opponents…

    Great Topic?

  9. consistency of scoring is my #1 as i would much rather have a bloke who will churn out regular 110s than an up and down 70-130-70-130

an ability to not have stinkers is my #2 as i don’t want someone who every now and then will score a 50

  10. thinking of bringing in 2 guns this week, 1 in the back and 1 in the mids.

at the back: hurn to deledio

in the mids: foley to bartel or watson, can’t make my mind up though

    what do people think???

  11. I went for a punt pre-season and it didn’t really pay off so now my first rule in bringing in a premium this year is: Get Dane Swan.

But other than that I just tend to stick to the formula: Buy Low & Sell High. I’m always looking for bargains, even in the premium department. So players like Brendon Goddard, Nick Reiwoldt, Bryce Gibbs and Luke Hodge are all good examples. Unfortunately for me I’ve had Roo, Gods and Gibbs from the get go.

  12. Deledio still has 2 byes this year, 1 soon i think, make sure your happy to cover him or pick someone else.

Both Bartel and Watson have byes in the SC finals, have a look at priddis, mundy, griffen.

Or if you want to get a little bit unique, go moloney or mitchell, especially mitchell, he has been killing it this year and he wont slow down either.

  13. Omen’s back from brain strain. Been travelling for work this week, still on the road, missed all news and trying to catch up on the week’s posts via iPhone. What’s Ollie done to upset the locals this time? Must be serious to draw a reprimand from Motts!

Still no idea what to do about Grimes.
