How Did You Go? – Rd 12

Written by Thommo on June 11 2018

Well, that was brutal!

How did your SC team fare this week? Did you climb the rankings and win your league matches or was it all doom and gloom?

  1. How did I go? Badly.

    1568/18/Walters

Decided to make Walters my Captain thinking he’d play pure midfield with Fyfe out. I was wrong. Menegola also disappointing on debut.

    Thank fu3k thatโ€™s over.
Heeney and Oliver thank you. The rest of you can be traded in an hour. If only!?

With 4 non bye players missing (N Fyfe, R Laird, J Billings, S Coniglio) I fielded 9 rookies and 9 premiums. Pretty happy with the end result but I wish I would have followed my gut on J Kelly/I Heeney captaincy selections.

    100+: J Kelly, C Oliver, P Dangerfield, I Heeney, D Zorko and D Smith

Sub 80: C Ballard (new recruit), L Austin (new recruit), N Holman, B Ronke, M Guelfi, M Walters (new recruit), C Spargo and M Gawn.

  4. 1210, Gawn as captain.

Had 8 players score 0, worst bye round score in SC I’ve ever had.

Its possible that the stench of this week will outlast religion.

  5. 1627 / Heeney / was 14K

I went Ahern early to field 18

    $627K for upgrades.

    8/9 league wins.

Freo getting up makes for a good week !

I fielded 18 and still had a horrific round. Lots of premos with byes plus Laird, Cogs and Fyfe are on my pine. Think it’s the worst C score of the season too. I’ve been hovering around the 5000 mark for a few rounds but I’ll slide a long way with that score. Wouldn’t have thought Goldy was going to be my 2nd highest scorer this round!

    1. All good RB. Same pain. But with Yeo, Simpson, Macrae, Mitchell, Cripps, Fyfe, McLean and Sicily (possibly Martin and Laird too) back next week, we should be right! If they’re both back (doubt either will be) will only have one rookie on the field and 21 playing. It’s big IF though!!

  7. 1651/Gawn/20/likely to pickup a few spots based on the league scores??

Based on season standings stuffed, decided to forgo my bye strategy and trade in players from Port/GCS for the missing non bye stars and it paid a small dividend. That was the highest score in LoEC1 and top three in the other eight, and won 8/9 games. Have enough trades to trade those guys back in after their byes btw.

Six tons highlighted by TMac, Zerrett, Heeney and Goldi. Spuds included Crouch, Savage and Boak. Honourable rooks were Doedee, Guelfi and Fritsch.

Now to next week and any other clever plans to stay in the game!

$5,830,000 sitting on my bench watching this round unfold, picked up Walters only for him to spud it up & then get reported ( 1 week ) with 2 minutes to go in a win the dickhead ๐Ÿ™

Great to see the back end of that round, thatโ€™s comfortably the worst round Iโ€™ve had in 8 years playing this wonderful but sometime frustrating game called Supercoach ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck to everyone for the remainder of the bye rounds

I was pleased to make four figures to be honest, but should be right from here. You?

There’s a few good scores being posted. Well done to all of you and commiserations to those (like a few of us) who (nearly) s(t)unk!

  10. 1484 / Gawn / 18

Brought Heeney and Dangerfield in, but turns out I put the VC on the wrong one. Parker and SMartin were OK. Everyone else stunk. I still don’t like the bye rounds!

  12. 1630 / Gawn unfortunately / 19

    Best : Cox!!
Worst: Menegola and Howe – others scored less but these two were my two latest upgrades over last two weeks or so and they are killing me! Both scoring poorly and both sore #scnightmare

Decided to go Danger into Gawn… Should’ve stuck with my initial gut call of Heeney or Zerrett into Gawn ๐Ÿ™

100+: Heeney, TMac, Zerrett, Parker, Stef Martin, Devon, Danger

Spuds: Mihocek, Murphy, Heron, Holman, Gawn

  14. 1583 / Oliver / was 598 / 18 players

Won 7/9 league games, thanks to a last minute decision to swap my captain from Gawn to Oliver, who I traded in to replace Dusty, thinking he may miss the 3 weeks. Brought Ahern in one week early to get 18 on field players, as the loss of Fyfe, Dusty, Coniglio, Laird & T Smith had me sitting on 15 players. Didn’t want to use 3 trades, and hoping I don’t drop too many places. No idea what I’m doing next week.

  15. 1621/McDonald/was just inside top 1K/20

    7/9 league wins

    Should be a solid score.

Last minute decision to switch C from Gawn > McDonald was a good one.

I wish my players would stop getting injured early in games. Darling last week and Lobb this week . Both PODS and both costing me league wins

Looks like I’ll have about 19 on field as I (probably like everybody else) have a number of Melbourne players.

  16. 1503/Gawn/Ranked 1513 (SC just opened) dropped 188 Spots.
    Fielded 17

Had to burn two trades just to get 17 on field. Plan was not to use any this week..

Oh well, plenty of Premos to come back this week and should be in a good spot the next couple byes (knock on wood)….

Love getting on this thread on a Sunday night and feeling the pain or feeling good about myself…

  17. 1670 / Oliver / 18 on field / 96th overall (up 96 spots)

7 out of 8 wins in leagues

8 rookies, 2 mid range and 8 premiums gave me a pretty good score.

Last minute decision to change C to Oliver from Gawn worked well.

  20. Brutal. A last minute change from Grundy to Gawn dragged me down a bit.

But the reality was simply all my players were total shit, and I had to carry 5 injured players so it was kind of a miracle to field 18 with only 1 trade.

    Gawn screwed me as C
    Ranked in the top 28%

Danger, Oliver, Stef Martin and Heeney helped me salvage what appears to be a respectable score.

  22. 1609/Stef/8971 (increase 2819)
Average score this week but im happy with that when only had the 18 players. 7 rookies and Christensen, only 5 players tonned up so that is a decent score from what i had

Studs: Heeney Zerrett and Stef only 3 players that went 110+this week so very happy that i managed to pick a good captain. I will ad Devon as one as well with his 104 in the game time he played but that injury could cause me trouble in the next few weeks which is concerning.

Spuds: Hibberd, Savage, Gawn and Richardson were the biggest spuds this week. Hibberd did the same as always and Savage had a shocker first half. Richardson is in their for dropping Billings and the fact he has played him out of position all year as it was clearly evident when Billings pulls out a 53 with 3 goals. You can’t call that out of form!!!!! If Billings does this when he comes back there will be some furious coaches.

With Martin, Fyfe, Howe, Coniglio, Laird out as injuries/suspensions as well as the usual suspects, had bare 18 used 1 trade and won 9/10 leagues.

Jumped almost 3k in the rankings, got some work to do to get back into the top 1k.
In Paris at the moment so I didn’t get to see any of todays game, but gee Coxy looks to have turned the corner. Not sure I’ll trade this week (famous last words ) got 19 on the park.

  26. Better than I thought / worried I would – 1,637 / Gawn as C.

Upgrade for the round was McDonald, which helped push me up about 350 spots.

Now to try to cobble together a team for round 13…

  27. 1462 and only dropped to be ranked 1,127th. gettin’ away with it!
lowest position since Rd7, but thought it would be a lot worse and feel much better about the next two byes. Always have, even before the carnage hit.

I actually find it strange that most SCTers have always seen R14 as the hardest, given that the top 2 MIDs (+ Cripps) are all R12, there are only two RUC premos and are both R13, two of the top 4 DEFs (+ Yeo) are R12 and the same for the FWDs.
Suppose it doesn’t help when you have all of them!!

Would have been fine without the added carnage of Laird, Fyfe, Dusty and Cogs, but there you have it. Couldn’t have predicted the perfect storm!

Here’s hoping they remain rare, but with climate change gathering pace, they may become both more frequent and more brutal!

  28. 1792/Gawn/trending upwards (but too little too late…)/18 scorers.

Reckon I would have come close to the chocolates for the round with the C on heeney or oliver instead of big Maxy, but ah well. I suspect the next two bye rounds will hit pretty hard.
