How Did You Go – Rd6

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 28 2019

A corkie slowed down Lachie Whitfield……Robbie Gray needs surgery on his hand…….Macrae / Libba had a quiet night in Perth…….Cripps was tagged heavily by the Hawks……

For whatever reason, our teams didn’t quite reach their full potential over the weekend.  How did Round Six treat you?

You need to add Sct prefix to be in running for Sct prize and but more importantly as you are part of Sct community great to spread word from top ranking coaches

My first good week all year, not many passengers this week. Hurn was impressive on debut and I didn’t have Darling this week, which probably helped a lot.

    STUDS:
    M. Gawn, B. Grundy, L. Neale, S. Hurn, R. Laird, Z. Williams, J. Lloyd

    SPUDS:
    LDU, J. Steele, J. Worpel

Next week I’ll go LDU and Butters out, and then a premo and Hayes in.

Also I apologise about not being so active on the site recently! I’m in my last 3 weeks of uni atm so it’s been pretty hectic as far as assignments go. Once uni’s over hopefully I’ll have much more free time to browse and comment on the site 🙂

I’m hoping this doesn’t set me back too far because I have what I think is a really solid trades and bye strategy.

Will have to see where I sit and try not to vent too hard at work tomorrow!

Bad side: I documented my Gawn loophole blunder in the progress scores post. I could’ve taken Neale’s 142 but it meant I’d have to eat Balta’s EMG score of 31 so I hoped that Cripps could at least muster the point differential if he didn’t have a good one. Gamble didn’t pay off. Oh well.

Bright side: Got the league win and I’m still maintaining top spot in points scored in my cash league by a single point.

Another somewhat average week, but set for an upgrade or 2 to improve these scores.
Studs: Gawn, Grundy, Neale, Laird, Williams and the weekday rookies.
Williams was the big surprise from this with such a great score, really hope he can back it up and it wasn’t solely all about Whitfield.

Spuds: Zerrett, Heeney, Cripps, Danger and the Weekend rookies.
Zerrett wasn’t too bad but going backwards in the final quarter really hurt. Cripps and Danger were average but since most have them it doesn’t mean much. Whitfield would be here but I’ll give him the week off due to an injury and him soldiering on. A lot of rookies ruined their cash growth and it is frustrating.

Hoping I can find some good upgrades in the next week or 2 and I have my eyes on you Macrae 😉

    1. Up 417 spots into 4586. Came in with all 9 tips this week as well which skyrocketed me in my tipping cash league!

Only saw about 3 or 4 scores in all my leagues that were higher, so think I’ve gotten through a poor week relatively well.

Might have to look at moving on a few rookies this week as they start to get higher BE’s

    This round REALLY sucked.
Only had 21 players due to Marshall being a late out.
Had the Moore /Burgess swing but Moore had already played.
Pretty much cost me 7 out of 9 league wins.
I even lost to SOS (Son of Shaggi) by nearly 200
Not sure whether to do a 1 up 1 down trade or a double down considering plenty of fallen premiums coming up

    Very disappointed.
Missed out on Richmond Rookies going for Lockhart for Burgess instead which could work out long term and retaining Butters . Injury to Whitfield didn’t help as well as sub score from Macrae , Danger and Cripps and expected more from Oliver , Steele , Billings , Heeney etc
Shining lights Grundy , Boak , Williams and B Smith

    Always next week.

Thought I might be able to steal a few ranks this week after a good start but unfortunately just fell away.

Having to field Petrucelle, scrimshaw and Parker killed me as well as macrae and bont being lower than I hoped.

Need to fix this messy team!

  9. 2098 / Grundy

Worst score since R1. Lost all 10 league games & going to drop way down the rankings which is really disappointing. Was just in the top 10k.
Having 9 onfield rookies is killing me, and can’t see where I can upgrade with so few rookies coming through. Not jumping on either Baker or Ross hurts.
Very little to smile about this week – Grundy, Gawn, Neale & Z Williams the only highs. Just so so scores from Lloyd, Oliver, M Crouch, Cogs & T Kelly
Yuck scores from Heeney, Whitfield, Cripps & Danger.

No idea what to do next week…..

  11. Don’t want to talk about it. Let’s just say, you know that 2 you’ve all got at the start of your score, yeah i don’t!! I’m performing about as well as my real world football team.

Add Newman, Coniglio and Whitfield to my casualty ward that’s already got Harris Andrews in it.

I’ll spend my week working on my 2020 SC team.

Unfortunately, think I will drop quite a few places after what was a really promising start to the round up until Saturday’s games & onwards.

Studs: Grundy, Neale, B. Smith, Z. Williams, Laird & Hurn

Spuds: Goldstein (only 16 pts in 4th qtr), Whitfield, Macrae, Libba, Cripps & T. Kelly

  14. 2,167… lost my cash league by 2 points 🙁

    Unfortunate events:
Whitfield, Macrae, Libba, Heeney & Greene (all uniques)

Special mention to Scrimshaw as I had him on field over Wilkie and at HT that looked like a great decision:

Boys who put up the good fight:
    Gawn (C), Ross & Miers

Very nervous last game as I went into it with a situation of

    +78 vs. Menegola
    Miers vs. Kelly

Loyd, B. Smith & Neale continue to hurt me as I started with none of them and have had to go up against all 3 as uniques nearly every week.

Swapped Whit for Laird just before season started and regretted it until now. Almost traded Z William for Whit last week…dodged a bullet. Hard to stay strong and not trade but sometimes it pays off..shows how much luck you need in this game. Hoping to push towards top 100.

  17. 2146/Gawn (VC loophole) 290/???

Had some ups and downs. Choosing to loophole Gawn’s score was probably the smartest move I’ve made in Supercoach altogether this year (so far). Dunkley had another decentish score, hopefully that’s a sign of things to come. Crisp was the reason for my only league loss for the week, and am still annoyed I didn’t go with Hurn at the start of the year after having him in for most of the pre-season.

The team as a whole is starting to become a little more consistent, but the defenders and forwards are still giving me some headaches. Will be upgrading Clark this week to a premo, which should help me out big time.

Very disappointed after a monster start. Same culprits as most other SCTers. Can’t be disappointed in Whitfield, just hope he doesn’t miss next week.
Stars were Gawn, Neale, Grundy and Williams.
Nice surprises were Baker, Ross and Duursma.

Definitely upgrading one this week. Either Lloyd, TKelly or Fyfe IN. Depends on the downgrade options.

    1. At least you have Gawn All Saints
Thinking of bold move of getting T Kelly and Fyfe for Moore and Goldstein and starting Rob if funds permit however I now have rookies that I may need to trade earlier. Could be a case of going with Answerth or Hately early if named especially with uncertainty of fitness of Whitfield and Coniglio.
Lloyd or possibly Rich could be defensive target

Pretty happy this week after a lot of my different choices set me apart. 6 120+ with Gawn, Grundy, Sicily, Boak, Williams and fyfe all over 120 and carrying the team.

Hopefully rise a fee ranks after a lot of popular player didnt fire this week.

My wife’s team also has Darling but thinking might as well keep another 3 weeks.
Next week home vs Gold Coast
Week after against Saints with defensive stocks down
    Week after home vs Melbourne

Made some mistakes, but scraped together a decent enough score. Injuries to Cogs and Whitfield are a bit of a worry, but we’ll see how that pans out. Hopefully I can manage my first upgrade this week.

    Up from 70 last week.
Grundy, Gawn, Boak, Neale, Taranto, Lloyd, Smith and Williams were 100+. Similar under performers to most others I think (Danger, B Crouch, Libba, Heeney, Steele, Cripps and Crisp).

My first year really following this site and it is well and truly paying off. Huge thanks to all contributers for sharing your knowledge.

  25. 2100/ B Grundy/ 25987 (from 24316)

    0-79: J Darling, L Whitfield, R Sloane, J Scrimshaw, W Drew, D Moore, I Heeney, S Walsh, C Constable
    80-99: X Duursma, L Baker, M Hore, T Goldstein, Z Merrett, P Dangerfield
    100-119: B Smith, C Oliver
    120+: B Grundy, L Neale, N Fyfe, R Laird, Z Williams

Very happy with the trades of Out: S Collins, B Scott and In: M Hore and L Baker but disappointed with keeping Darling who is now averaging 15.5 over the past fortnight and I potentially could have started T Boak for exactly a 400 point differential and roughly 20,000 to 24,000 ranking spots.

Will bring T Kelly in this week but unsure whether J Darling or M Parker makes way and J Macrae, J Kelly and J Lloyd are the main upgrade targets before the byes.

Only 2 tons from midfield, 4 of them came down back. Needless to say I don’t have Macrae, Libba or Whitfield. Happy to win my main league by 12pts.

Actually pretty happy, my highest overall ranking yet, and 2nd best round score wise, plus won 4/4 of league matches. Thinking I’ll upgrade Goldy to Grundy this round to beef up my team, especially now that Whitfields BE is 204, will target him next round when he is cheaper.

Amazed I did so well with Cripps, Libba, Macrae, Heeny, Crisp, Dangerfield, and Steele. Rookies did well though, especially newcomers Ross and Baker.

Glad to be slowly climbing in rank after a horrible Round 1. Am focusing on not wasting downgrade targets, per Rule Five, so may or may not upgrade this round depending on who is named.

Coming back in ranks after being ranked 40k two weeks ago, have a decent team on paper just wrong rookies fielding stuffed me around along with dud premo scores. Could have been much better if i fielded Ross over Butters and Duursma over Scrimshaw this week.
