I knew I was stuffed when…

Written by Motts on August 6 2019

Things were going well for me after Friday night’s game – Worpel had gone bananas for 149, Goldy had been serviceable with 118 – but by the end of Saturday I had sent my opponent the text conceding. Where did it all go wrong?

I knew I was stuffed when Will Snelling, a player I was previously unaware of, scored 122 as my opponent’s midfield emergency.

At what point in Round 20 did you know you were stuffed?

Conversely, if you won on the weekend, at what point did you know you had it in the bag?

  1. I won 9/10 leagues, but regret the decision of going Cripps over Macrae as C. I was hoping for a big last quarter, bit Crippa was barely sighted – whilst Macrae was going absolute bonkers.

    1. You lost in a league??? You’re almost a lock to win the title and the $75 in SCT Premier League 1.

  3. Thought it was in the bag when Treloar hit 113 at half time finishing on a monster 177. Then Newman on the opposition team bagged 161 the dog. It came down to my Dunkley V their Johannisen and a 41 point advantage. Dunks came through and I won by a point in elimination… The poor bastard!

  4. Won 8 out of 9 League Matches with one by 6pts and the other by 7pts thanks to Dunkley copping a knee in the back by Mitch Robinson with 5 minutes to go with him on 108pts and finishing on 107.

If Dunkley plays out the last 5 minutes with time on he surely scores the extra 7pts that would have given victory to my opponents.

  5. When Neale didn’t touch it in the last qtr whilst my opponent had Bont ticking over a point a second. Went into match about 50 points up and lose by three.

  6. Was so nervous after trading r gray out…sick of his mediocrity as a fwd, and figured he was the prem least likely to go big…so I traded him. Went to the game early Sat and watched in horror as he kicked four and racked up his 111.
Sunday afternoon came and in my main league I had one player still to go in the last game and needed 128.
Great job new recruit Bont !!! Won 6/8 including all ef’s.

    1. Oof. Nightmare, Wighty. Trade him out and then watch him slap up your team. My condolences!

  7. This is the message I sent Motts on Saturday afternoon. Maybe my abject failure inspired Motts to create this thread.

Making your final trade for the season should feel like completing a masterpiece. You should be able to step back and gaze upon your seasons work with pride. You shouldn’t have Rozes at D6 with an injured Hurley at D7. Heeney shouldn’t have crept into your mids at M8 with late season rookies covering M9-M11. How is ROB my R2???? The less said about my forward line the better, but Westhoff at F5 and Simpkin at F6 ’cause Lycett is inexplicably dropped …. well how they’re all in my team I’m flummoxed. Roll on 2020 with 2020 vision.

  8. I didn’t get stuffed until after the siren on Sunday when the Bont (I don’t have him, but opponent did) got scaled up 2 points and I lost by 1.
To really kick me while I was down, I lost my other cash league game by 1 as well (not Bont related). Thankfully both were qualifying finals so I get a chance at redemption this week.

  9. I have 5 geelong players, mainly because of remaining fixture, and at half time it was all looking good…

  11. I won my elimination cash league by 4 solitary points. I was a mile behind from the get go, where my opponent started with Worpel,he also had Treloar and captained Fyfe. Was worried about Grundy against Witts so I threw caution to the wind and captained Macrae. Was at least 500 behind on the Sunday, didn’t give myself a chance. I just kept screaming at my team to handball at all costs !!

  12. Did a lot of teams sitting top 2 get rolled?
I was predicted to win my cash league game by 350 and lost. Thank you Worpel, Bont, treloar, Rozee, gray, Duursma, Liam Ryan and Captain Fyfe.

  13. First of all, round of applause for I reckon one of the best thread titles this year…..

I knew I was stuffed when I realised I had put VC Grundy, C MacRae but had no loophole option to take VC if Grundy went big….. decided to just roll with Grundy C and then watched him stop halfway through the second quarter and not score a point for about 15mins….

Then watched as Macrae went 45 touches against Lions…..
