Ideal Team – MID

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 24 2017

While we wait for Rd5 to come to an end, let’s reflect on our Supercoach teams and our overall goals for 2017.  Trying to form your ‘Ideal Team’ is one of the main goals of any Supercoach season.  The midfield plays a massive role in that, generating the most pts of any position.

Again, there are many ways to ask the question, but I’ve settled on: ‘Which eight MIDs would you ideally like to see in your team by seasons end?‘  Players are in order of current avgs at the completion of Rd4.  If you feel like sharing your Top8 MIDs then add them to the Forum below……….

Which EIGHT Midfielders are you aiming to get into your team by seasons end?

  1. From this point of the game on, for me it’s more about finding the player who’s had an explicable dip in price to a one-off poor game so they’re in a discounted price cycle. In a season where cash is limited and trades are always golden being able to save some coin on one trade will give you options further down the road that you may not get if you’ve spent every last penny on the 600K top of his price cycle megatron.

Love MJ’s fallen premium article and it becomes more and more relevant as we progress in the season.

    1. I made a similar point on another post last week and got a tonne of thumbs down. Too many coaches are buying 600k mids because they’re in a purple patch. We just can’t afford to do that this year!
Must wait until those good players have one bad game and a stinky score in their 3 week cycle then snap them up for around 550k!!

        1. I’m talking about picking up a gun at the bottom of a price drop and you give me Murphy who was at the top of his price rise. Murphy was fools gold.

          1. I hear ya. I’m a massive fallen premiums guy. But there are exceptions to the rule. Dangerfield last year was a must buy regardless of price. Ablett before that. There are some players that you must get.

  2. I managed to get R Sloane before his first game 70 left his price cycle.

I was happy to pay $600K for a Super Premium POD.

His price is now $647K well out of reach for most people.

Having Danger, Jellwood, Fyfe and Sloane as Captain candidates also gives me heaps of options.

I agree with Daisy in theory.

Although when it comes to the top scorers on each line sometimes you have to bite the bullet and get them in. Other wise you start to fall too far behind those who have them.

Only one spot left in my Mids.

Rocky/ Dusty and Pendles all on my radar.

  3. I think Tom Mitchell is a huge smokie to become a top 10 mid this year. Has averaged 106 and top scored for Hawthorn in almost all 4 of their big losses so far. Top scored again with 127 in a win on the weekend. Could easily end up averaging 115+ if Hawthorn actually start winning games consistently. He is clearly the no 1 mid at the club and doesn’t have too many players taking points off him unlike mids from Sydney, Collingwood, Brisbane, Bulldogs etc.

    1. Mutley .

I drank Wines all year in 2016. But the Port was rubbish.

I got a nasty hangover. If the Port is great this year? Wines might be good.

I think the Port will be Average.

I think the Wines might be average too.

I would trust in another Beverage and go the BONT.

          1. Seriously. A thumbs down? Who’s grumpy out there tonight.

How can “Thanks Jimbo” get a TD??????

            People baffle me at times.

    2. I had robbie gray on my watchlist at start of year as a potential upgrade after rd 9 bye but dont know if i can handle the Rollercoaster ride.
