I had 2 bets on the game yesterday. Carlton 1-39 @ $3.20 and Richmond to lead at half time, Carlton to win paying 8-1.
D’ya reckon I sang the song with a bit of gusto?
Beloved cats lost, Abbott won, Supercoach scores were atrocious with Enright, Hannebury, Didak, Martin, Rohan, Ellis, Colquohon (didnt get a chance to change Chapman after i saw the green vest, not that it would have mattered)

Love the concept of an idle chatter thread. Very much a Monday morning water cooler type thread.
Few things from me:
* 3 votes – C Judd
How good was the ole fella in the 3rd quarter. Sensational effort to drag his team back into the game.
* Nick Duigan showed Mick Malthouse why he should’ve been in the team all season. I say Mick Malthouse specifically ’cause the rest of us knew Duigan was in their best 22 all along.
* Logan, Wingard, Lobbe – all bloody impressive. Lobbe’s really firming for my R2 spot next season.
* Hate Ross Lyon. Hate Ryan Crowley. But you gotta give them both massive kudos for what they deliver week in, week out for that football club.
* Loved the Alanis Morrisette style irony that Richmond finally make the finals and then lose to 9th!!

Had a pretty poor weekend SC wise. I was able to access the net from Saturday afternoon onwards and, as a result, the Collingwood/Port game was not kind to me.
Swan, Pendlebury, Sewell, O’Keefe, Stokes and Pavlich were all serviceable but turning down Beams for Swan, Hodge for Sewell and Jack/JPK for O’Keefe was disappointing.
From a footy perspective, the Hawks second half was amazing. When Sydney had it back to around 20 points mid-way through the third I turned to my mate and said, “if they get the next one they are right back in this.” Ten minutes later the game was over. If they weren’t a strong chance to be playing Geelong in a prelim they’d be a near certainty to make the last Saturday.
Tipped the Dockers win so happy with that. While I hate him from a SC perspective, I have nothing but the utmost respect for Ross Lyon and the way he runs a football club. I’ve always thought that Pavlich doesn’t get quite the level adulation that he deserves and if they were to make (or even win) a Grand Final with him leading from the front, it would be fitting in the twilight of his career. He has been a champion of the game.
Like I have a lot this year, I didn’t give Port a chance and, like they have done a lot this year, they showed me. I have only seen snippets of the game, but kudos to them. When you remember than in round 20, 2012 they went down by over five goals to GWS and in less than 14 months they have progressed to a Semi Finalist, it is truly astounding what Hinkley, Koch and co. have achieved.
Carlton/Richmond was epic. As a neutral, boy was that fun to watch. Judd was sensational. It was interesting to watch a number of Blues leaders really stand up in the third and a number of Tiger leaders went very quite (Cotchin being the obvious exception).
Can’t wait for next weeks finals already. September, spring and finals really is a great time of year!

All you need to do is select a player from each of the 18 teams who you think will score the highest number of brownlow votes. If your entry is the highest score when all the teams are added together,you’re the winner. Entry fee is $5.00 ,and you make a donation of $5.00. The prize pool is 100 % of entry fees recieved. So with 400 entries the prize pool would be $2,000. Multiple entries are accepted so it might be worth the punters club having a crack at it with say 4 entries e.g. 2 players from 2 clubs and 1 from the other 16 clubs to improve chances at a big prize for the kitty. P.S. its not that hard I have won it before with just 1 entry and 350 people were in it.
Neglected the rules which you can read online when printing out entry form. Rule 1. You can select players who have been suspended during the season, as the votes polled are all that matters in the competition. Rule 2. If there is more than one winner, each winner will receive an equal share of the prize pool.
Well I usually have a few confessions from a weekend living away in Foreign countries.
Needless to say The Hawks getting up over Sydney I sang with the same Gusto as Motts I reckon.
Confession 2. Wanted Richmond to loose great game to watch when the blues came back (Another of our bogey sides gone)
Confession 3: Want Port to win this week, not that I do not think we can roll the cats I just rather they were not there.
On the Confession of our night prowess over seas, not much I can really say, apart from what happens North of Australia stays North of Australia.
But Vietnam has Ok KTV in the North we will leave it at that.

The grand prize is awesome, a package for two to the kentucky derby.
Sure looks hard game to play, lots of reseach needs to be done, but that is where the sct community pooling thier information would be worth its weight in gold.
So check it out and see if their is enough interest to get a league going.
A thought, that with the new ‘weighted rules’ related to who teams play twice a team like Carlton or Port, by winning on the weekend have moved from the 7-12 group to the 1-6 group. End result is their draw for next season is ever so slightly more difficult for next season as they now have more games against the top teams and less against the other middle tier teams. Just something to ponder.

He could be a very interesting pick up for a decent team looking to put themselves over the edge. In the last few years of his career, I could really see him being a great green vest player, as he is able to impact a contest either in the middle or up forward. And he doesn’t need a lot of touches to do it!
If he were to go to a club where he were to play a lot though, he could be a tantalising cheap option as a SC 2014 forward. He only played four H&A games this year (two as sub) and if he were to attract a 20% discount on his average he would be priced at only 50. That would likely see him hovering in the mid-$200ks somewhere. It would be too high a risk at F4 or higher, but if he were to be at say the $250k mark (or under it) he could be very enticing at F5 or F6 option.
A realible source who is one of Dane Swans best mates reckons Swan wants out of Collingwood, not happy with Buckley. Heath Shaw also likely to be traded word has it pies have had enough of his antics. I think Buckley needed a plan B with Shaw and should have moved him onto a wing when he was getting dragged back to last line every week.
