Polec had precautionary scans on his right hamstring on Monday after feeling some soreness after last weekend’s four-point loss to West Coast. Ryder is less than a 50/50 chance to play after re-aggravating a hip flexor injury, while Houston has pulled up well from a hard hit that forced him from the field in a medicab. Midfielder Karl Amon (knee) could also be available. Young forward Todd Marshall has foot tendon damage associated with an ankle sprain sustained in a SANFL game on July 15. – Lee Gaskin

Updated: Monday, August 13

Early prognosis

Lambert is the big news this week after he needed minor surgery on the ankle he injured against Gold Coast. He is expected to be available for the first final, as is Butler, who last week had the same reinforcement procedure Lambert underwent on Monday. The setback means Butler will be up against it to get back this season given he hasn’t played since round 16. Nankervis was “managed” against Gold Coast with the Tigers hesitant to take any chances with their big man after he picked up a corked quad against Geelong, but will play against Essendon. Conca is a chance to be available despite rolling his other ankle in the VFL on weekend. However, a VFL bye this weekend means he’ll likely sit out again. Bolton also had minor surgery last week on his knee with the Tigers aiming to have him up and running to take part in the VFL finals. Daniel Rioli trained last week with a taped right knee but faced the Suns without strapping and should be fine to go. – Jennifer Phelan

  1. Sigh if the pies were a bit more honest about howes injury initially I would have burnt my last trade on howe to lloyd instead of degoey to lloyd!

  2. Very Stiff JJJ.

Going to make Catta’s Comp interesting with you playing Lienert for Howe and Ahern for Kelly this week so that 97pt lead might get widdled down or away.
JJJ you do have a strong line up though if you put your injuries to the side.

    1. Yeah i was happy to cover kelly with lienert (have brayshaw /joel smith mid/def swing) as he has consistently pumped out 75+ but if howe is out I have no confidence in ahern/liam ryan scoring well. I dont think its even possible for me to loophole them.

  3. I reckon J kelly might be the most important selection in SC history. My oppt has him in my mail league, as well as walters. I do have heater, but my pre-season promise to hit finals with four trades looks a winner. Lost gf last year with a donut

    1. Spot on, – my only trades since the byes & going full premo have all been injury trades – Fyfe, Scicily, Savage & Josh Kelly (assuming he won’t play). Still got 2 trades for the Grannie 🙂

  4. In an interesting development Freo has just announced Sonny Walters is a chance to play this week after scans have revealed there was no tear to his hamstring and he will receive treatment to his lower buttocks this week.

  5. Playin Robbo in 2 Prelims – he’s got Howe, Walters & Hogan and hasn’t had trades for weeks…. he says smugly 🙂
Ill be trading out Josh Kelly for the second time this year – this time to McCrae.
    Happy days 😉 wink wink
