JLT Game Chat – Crows vs Lions

Written by Huttabito on March 11 2017

Adelaide v Brisbane Lions, Hickinbotham Oval (Noarlunga), 3.40pm ACDT

Adelaide has regained goalkickers Eddie Betts, Josh Jenkins and Mitch McGovern for the game against the Brisbane Lions at Noarlunga on Saturday.

Betts and Jenkins were rested last week, while McGovern was nursing a minor knee injury. Dean Gore (concussion) will miss.

The Brisbane Lions have lost one gun first-year player with No.3 draft pick Hugh McCluggage sidelined for a month with an ankle injury, but have replaced him with his TAC Cup teammate, No.24 pick Cedric Cox, a skilful and versatile half-back. Otherwise the Lions have picked a strong-looking side.

  1. Final teams are in. @Adelaide_FC out: Knight, Wigg and Poholke.

FWIW – Wigg played practice SANFL game today and was named BOG.

    1. So does everyone still think Wigg will play round one. Surely he has done enough. Only been his kicking efficiency that’s needed a scrub up. Found the ball well enough.

  3. It’s only half time and the score is already 82-55. Looks like we’re on track for a 1970s scoreline!

I note that in several of this weeks games, both teams have scored over a hundred points. It this a sign of things to come this season, or just a typical preseason lack of defensive pressure?

      1. Perhaps. Still, it’s worth thinking about… if scoring trends up in general this season, then maybe those key forwards that we are being offered as premiums actually won’t be such bad options.

  4. 1/2 time, Douglas 79, Rich 59, Beams 54, Jacobs 51, Hampton 50, Martin 49, Otten 47, Rocky 45, Laird 41, Zorko 39 & Barrett 17.

Hampton lifted his DE up to 56% now and playing on ball.

        1. He is probably competing with lever for the third tall defender spot. I don’t think they will rush lever back from his hamstring without match conditioning.

      1. At his price he only needs to play consistently to be a good option. If he actually plays in the midfield he could be D7 at the end of the year.

          1. Pyke has made reference to him playing in the midfield so expect him to spend some time there. Obviously Sloane and Crouch will restrict his time though.
