JLT Game Chat – Swans v Saints

Written by Motts on March 12 2017

The Sydney squad for Sunday’s clash with St Kilda at Lavington features youngsters Oliver Florent, Will Hayward, Robbie Fox and Darcy Cameron, who may be given one last chance to impress before the season opener in 16 days against Port Adelaide.

New St Kilda skipper Jarryn Geary returns, as do Nick Riewoldt, and defenders Dylan Roberton and Sam Gilbert. The Saints have included both ruckmen Tom Hickey and Billy Longer, but it could be a battle for round one selection with coach Alan Richardson yet to declare whether he can carry both players in his best 22.

    1. Nice work Adam. Am interested in centre bounce attendances from Z Jones. Got that stat? I’m searching for a decent mid-priced D3 spot as my POD…

      1. Zak Jones played all 3 JLT games. Scores of 114, 54 and 103 Supercoach pts:

        JLT SERIES AVERAGE:

        23 disposals
        6 contested possessions
        2 clearances
        7 tackles
        90.3 supercoach points
        Price: $307,000

Bigger ready-made body for the midfield to assist JPK, Hanners and Parker. Hell I’d be happy with a 80 point average – bargain at his price.

    1. Everyone laughed at me when I mentioned Jack Steele three weeks ago! Not so sure they be laughing now. Yes it’s only JLT but he played well when GWS gave him the chance. Will get a great run through the midfield this year. I love mids that tackle. Kennedy Priddis Dangerfield etc. he’s in my forward line.

      1. Steele will be a defining decision of the season. If heโ€™s only going well because it’s the preseason and nobody else is trying you’ll waste a trade on him. If he stays in the midfield all year you’re behind the eight ball if you don’t have him.

        Tough call!

      2. Don’t think anyone was laughing at the player, maybe more the timing of the selection. Steele definitely shows promise, no question. Whether that’s enough to feature in the Top10 FWDs, maybe a year or two too soon?

      3. Mate he was in my team from the get go 2 years back. I didn’t bother last year, but his price and job security wasn’t certain in a strong Giants midfield…that’s all different now.

He was getting games in the NEAFL where he was raking in some outrageous possessions a couple of years back in the mid 30’s and 1 or 2 games in the 40s. This kid will be a genuine quality midfielder for a long time to come for the Saints. Perfect pickup.
