When will Matt Crouch ever get back?  How did Bryce Gibbs work on his defensive game and earn a recall when the Crows had a Bye in the SANFL?  Should we fork out $645k for Josh Kelly?  What’s all this about a loophole?

Whatever you need to ask before the first rolling lockout, this is your thread.  The SCT Coaches will help out wherever they can……….

  1. Should I:

T/U: Get Cameron in this week assuming he goes huge, hope Danger sits forward/plays hurt and scores mediocre to poorly, and pick him up after his bye.

T/D: Get Danger in this week, knowing full well Cameron is likely to go huge, and pick him up somewhere along the track if he lowers in price again.

  2. If I’m trading out ROB to generate cash, am I better off trading in

TU – Sweet (WB) as he has 7 Sunday arvo games, so ideal Captain when VC goes big
TD – Fort (Geel) played 2 so on the bubble, may get a 3rd game at some stage to generate cash, but only 2 Sunday games so more difficult in taking VC score as Capt.

      1. Will he play? That’s the question, Jacobs will play SANFL this week, I personally think Jacobs is cooked & ROB actually overs more but I dont think Adelaide see it that way.

    1. Although I think they’ll finish the year averaging about the same as each other, Cameron is more likely to be a top 6 FWD than Ryan is to be a top 6 DEF. Also Cameron is currently around 60k cheaper.

      1. If I bring in Cameron, I’ll only be able to trade in one of Boak or Mundy later on. Would it still be worth Bringing Jezza if it means missing out on either of them?

        1. Good point, it depends on what your backline is looking like. Ask yourself the same question about Ryan, if you trade him in is it worth missing out on Lloyd, Hurn, Whitfield etc. if you already don’t have them?

Also I just realised Ryan has the bye next week, so you’re probably better off going Cameron anyway who has the last bye.

          1. Thanks very much for the help Ben, much appreciated. I’ve already got Hurn and Lloyd, and if I get Ryan this week, I’ll be looking to get Whitfield as my last defender upgrade throughout the byes.

  3. JS of Oskar Baker?

T/U Solid, sad story, promising youngster should play till round 15 at least?

T/ A bit raw, may be dropped when others return.

    1. There’s no promises in SC, but as a Dees supporter, I actually think Baker’s JS is not too bad. He’s just the sort of player we’re crying out for and there’s others I’d rather drop than him right now. Although I’ve struggled with a number of the Dees selections this year so who knows what the match committee is thinking.

  4. I have room for one more FWD ( got Danger, T Kelly, Heeney, Daniel & Dunkley ). Obvious choices are Boak, Mundy & Cameron. R14 bye of Cameron is probably better if trading in a Forward this week. But that means not getting Boak or Mundy, both of whom don’t play next week so I would wait until R13 to buy one and trade in a DEF this week instead.
TU: Trade in Cameron this week, he will go huge some weeks and still average over 90 for the remainder of the season
TD: Trade in a defender this week, pass on Cameron, and get Boak or Mundy in R13.

  5. TU: BEWLEY (PREFER HIS JS KID CAN PLAY BUT NOT ON BUBBLE)

TD: BAKER (DONT THINK HE WILL LAST LONG IN BEST 22)

  6. What is the JS on this new draftee from the Dogs – Ryan Gardner?
Trading out Constable to get some cash during the bye rounds, and not sure about JS of Oskar Baker (Melb) or Bewley (Freo).

    1. So the question is Bewley or Baker, yeah?

If you’re not going to be doing any more midfield downgrades, I’d take Bewley as I think he’s more likely to play 10+ games from here on out.

If you’ve still got another downgrade or two to come, take Baker now on the bubble, and Bewley after his R12 bye.

      1. Sound advice BB

Setterfield may still be named this week.

With Daisy’s demise, Setters may rise. I’m hoping he takes his H/B / Wing spot.

While theres a chance he plays before his late Bye I will be keeping him. His DPP alone is handy.

Worst case is he becomes Bewley R13.

  7. Who to trade in for F5? (Already have Danger, Kelly, Dunkley and Heeney)

    TU: Cameron

    TD: Boak

    11

    7
  8. Who to replace Brayshaw with?
Already have: Cripps, Neale, Oliver, Fyfe, Rocky

    TU – Sloane
    TD – Macrae

    Comment other.

  9. Who do I trade in this week (I have J Lloyd, Whitfield & Williams) Waiting for R14 to trade in Hurn as can’t have anymore R13 bye players

    TU = L Ryan $527,000 – AV 105.4 BE 102
    TD = Sicily $503,600 – AV 99 BE 133

R12 bye doesn’t bother me. Sicily is cheaper but has the higher BE

  10. T/U : B Crouch
    T/D: Sheed

Or would you take someone else altogether around that price range?

    2

    1
    1. Would take Lobb, Coniglio, Daniel, Danger, Heeney or Worpel at that price. All have a better chance of being a keeper in their position than Crouch or Sheed.

  11. I’m trading out Crouch and a Rook for a premo and Baker
I can get any midfielder in the comp but don’t know who

Yeo- Started poorly but has averaged over 120 the last 6 weeks, not bad price

Sloane- Solid season especially lately, but is likely to drop a few 70/80s every few weeks, not bad price

Kelly- A star and has been on fire, although injury prone and pricey

Fyfe- Much the same as Kelly, only has one bad game but may get injured or suspended

Bontempelli- AVG 115 for the year but only 103 or so the last 3 weeks

Merrett- Averaging 110 plus but nothing to amazing like the others

  12. Clark > Gardiner

    Corbett> Daniel

Going early on Gardiner but think he has good Js as dogs crying out for key position players and yes Both have byes next week but actually suit my bye rounds..

    1

    3
  13. Is it worth trading in Gardner this early?

T/up – Yes will gain some cash

    T/down – No too early

    5

    15
    1. Do you have Moore &/or Burgess? I can just justify it if you do assuming your other F&D bench players have good JS. Keep in mind he is purely a swing not a scorer

    1. In the same boat – gold coast forwards unlikely to get near it but setterfield inconsistent.

      2

  14. TU: JPK and Constable out for Sloane and Cunnington or are these guys not top 8 worthy?

TD: JPK to Josh Kelly, Drew to JezCameron and cop midfield donut

Edit: 1.18mil to spend in total, drew is already covered up forward.

    5

    2
  15. TU Butters and Constable to Lloyd and Begley

TD Bailey Scott and Constable to Lloyd and Oskar Baker (can’t afford Begley)

    2

    2
  16. Trade out ROB and in either:

T/U Fort – should get another game, and could make/hold some spare cash in case.

T/D Sweet – already have non-playing players for loopholes.

    4

    5
  17. Need a rookie for this round – would prefer one with more chance of holding his spot

    TU – J Begley $167,600
    TD – O Baker $123,900
    OR Comment – R Young $117,300

  18. It looks like I won’t be able to get Whitfield in this week as Hinge wasn’t named. Are there any other viable DEF rookies to look at?

    1. You could go two weeks early on Gardner from the Dogs, but I have no idea what his scoring potential or job security is like.

    2. If you have Duursma or Answerth in your backline, you could move them to MID, in order to get in Whitfield?

      1

      0
  19. Need to trade out one of these this week
TU- Constable/Drew – neither playing this week so won’t lose cash and will be trading one or both next week
    TD – Petruccelle

  20. Thoughts on Young (Stk) keeping his spot during the byes, thinking of getting him this week (1 up 1 down trade) as i need people playing during the rd.13 bye, considering he went full potato this week and still got named must be pretty safe???

    2

  21. Is Jezza Cameron a good VC option this week? Although playing same time as Grundy and Jelly
    Tu: Yeah
    Td: nah

    1

    5
    1. Nah, hard to pass up a guy in Grundy who’s three round average is 150 and playing an inferior ruck in Lobb.

      2

  22. Keep Bailey Scott on my mid bench even though he is completely mia or bank the 50k trading him to Oskar Baker and hope he holds his spot for a bit? I have Bines still for loophole.

  23. Hi Team!

With minimal decent downgrade options I don’t have too many moves up my sleeve.. Thoughts on the below would be greatly appreciated!

    TU
    OUT: B. Smith & M. Crouch
    IN: J Lloyd & J. Cameron
Pros: Looking better for the dreaded Rd 12 bye in addition to a strengthened fwd line that is in need of some bolstering. This trade also enables DPP coverage in to the midfield with Duursma and Answerth able to make the switch
Cons: Wasn’t necessarily looking to trade out M. Crouch out and J Petru looks as though he may lose 10k or so depending on output this round

    TD
    OUT: J Petrucelle & S. Stack
    IN: J Lloyd & O Baker
Pros: Keeping M. Crouch (unsure if this will be a good thing as of yet with his price set to drop upon return even with decent output)
Cons: Neutral to the R13 Bye, unsure that O Baker will make a tonne of $ beyond this round. Doesn’t enable DPP structure.

Any and all feedback is welcome!

  24. Alternatively I can also replace M.Crouch with Z. Williams in the above scenario

    1
    1. No it’s not. GWS are the best SC scorers bar none. If say five of them ton up each week, that still leaves an ave. 76pts/player for the remaining 17.
They’ve had as many as 9 and 10 players ton up in just the one game in the last four weeks! Yes there have been dud weeks in losses to HAW (4) and FRE (1), but doesn’t everyone?!
Three of them average well over 100 and a further 3 ave 95+.
Just make sure you’re picking the right ones 😉

  25. Do we think Taranto can keep this year’s form up? I need a midfielder this week, and would prefer one with a round 14 bye. I’m at capacity for round 13 mids; I could make a round 12 player like Fyfe work, but round 14 works better for my structure. The only problem is that I already have Cripps and J. Kelly, so the obvious options are already gone, and I’m not convinced Sloane will keep his current run of form up. Hence my asking about Taranto.

  26. My best F6 this round?

    T/U J. Petruccelle

    T/D R. Young

Not much of a choice really, is it?

  27. Need help please, new to this game. If i have W.Drew (fwd/mid) in my fwd line, can I trade him for a mid and how? Cheers

    1

    1
    1. Only works Craig if you have a M/F player currently in your mids. If so, then you would trade out Drew from your forward line, move your M/F player from Mids to Fwd, and then trade in a Mid.

      2

      1
    2. You’d need to have someone in mids with m/f status.
      1. Trade out Drew (you now have an empty f spot).
      2. Swing m/f player to fwd line (you now have an empty mid spot).
      3. Trade in that mid.

    1. Fwds are so un underwhelming and so hot and and cold that I’m leaving them for now. There’s better upgrade options in the mids and down back.

      1

      0
      1. Fair point but my fwd line needs a desperate upgrade with Baker, Balta and
Setterfield/Petruccelle currently all on the field. Can afford up to $500k. Would prefer Dunkley but can’t get there this week.

  28. Less of a query and more of a statement of plans.

Today will be Constable to Taranto and Petrucelle to Baker (with Setterfield moving fwd).

    1

    1
      1. Ended up changing to a warm bodies philosophy with the byes approaching and booted Collins instead of Petrucelle.

Collins and Constable to Taranto and Baker. Go Timmy go. Beat up on those pesky Suns!!!

  29. With M-D swing able to choose between Clark and Gibbons on field

    TU: Clark
TD: Gibbons – Named on a wing

    1

  30. Had VC on Grundy…

    T/U – take his score of 124

    T/D – take a punt on Cripps

    Comment: risk C on Neale
