    1. Word is he’ll be playing 50/50 MID/FWD, but with GWS injuries and how good of a midfielder he is I’d expect it to be more like 70:30. Would look elsewhere for a starting MID premo though, Caleb.

  1. Is it worth switching Sicily to Houston, J. Kelly to Yeo and Ash to Brander in order to have Naismith at R3? Think the cash generation could be huge, or is it not worth compromising on premos?

    1. Feel like those three are close enough in potential scores that it may be worthwhile.

Though if Xerri or Cameron get games early, there may be as much money to be made on them as there would be Naismith, and the money saved improves your on-field scoring (to some degree).

    2. I don’t mind them 3 downgrades GD.
I like the mid defenders like Houston & brodie smith with shortened game time it may help these blokes where sic will have less intercepts & that…
yeo is a downgrade on kelly but I like brander seems to have a role on a wing and good JS ash’s JS is horrible…

      Overall I like the move!

    3. Argh, 5 T.D’s but confirmation from BlueBalls and Mav (opinions I hold in esteem).

So conflicted, hope this teamsheets can make the decision for me.

      1. Which way did you fall on this one, GD? Did Ash’s omission force your hand?

I’ve ended up with Naismith at R3 as well, funnily enough. Was tossing up between him and Long (FWD), and while Naismith won’t be contributing points on-field, I think the ruck depth will come in handy and the cash growth potential is better.

  2. Should I clear my Team and start from scratch for the third time today?

    TU: Go For it!
    TD: You’re panicking. Settle Down.

    1. Do it. I’ve done it today.
Walk away for an hour and do something completely different, but don’t drink until you’ve settled on a team you’re happy with 😉

      1. To late 😉

While the world is going crazy, I’m still thinking of SC.

I’m looking for players to rush out of the gates and score fast.
and I mean Mid pricers I wouldn’t normally consider.

We now have trades to F Around so to speak.
With price changes from next week. A mid pricer ( still under $350K ) can make $130K+ in a month if he he can start on fire. It may take a forward like King, eight or more weeks to make that.

With this many trades I’m looking for fast starting Stepping stones. Think Hately, Bailey Williams or Short (while Houli’s out.)

And I’m trying to stay away from forward cows 😉

I’m just going to have some fun this year and see what happens.

Out with the rule book and in with the GUT!

Wishing you all well in this first round of SC.

    1. It seems to be at this point.
All SC rules updates will be shared in separate posts at the earliest opportunity. SC have stated that they may change the rules as the season unfolds, given that there could be significant changes forced on the AFL. They have explicitly stated that they will do everything they can to maintain a balance of fairness throughout the season.
I’d presume that given they haven’t changed League Rules already, that they will now remain the same.

      1. I emailed them today. League games start round 1 – matchups will be displayed after Friday’s game.

        1. From email-
Both 10 and 18-team leagues will now kick off in Round 1: We will try to fit in as much H2H action as possible. Finals series will be scheduled to take place in Rounds 14-17. Therefore not all teams will be matched up to play against each other (18-team leagues) and some teams will play each other twice (10-team leagues). League fixtures will be generated at random.

You won’t see H2H match-ups until the Bulldogs v Magpies game is completed on Friday night. We just want to allow ample time for you to finalise any incomplete leagues before they are finalised and H2H fixtures are generated.

We recently published the full set of updated rules for the new 17-round SuperCoach AFL season. You can read through them on the page below:

  3. Does anyone have any info on Luke Ryan’s status. Is he injured and if he plays is he likely to be limited. I heard he had back related issues last year?

    1
      1. Yeah, exactly. I wanted to start him, but even the question of fitness/injury is enough to dissuade me.

  4. TU: Oliver D.Martin

    TD: Macrae petracca/Macpherson at F2

TU means I miss Macrae in my side but now accumulators aren’t priority looking more at blokes like dusty & bont who impact Games more so than 40 touches..

    11

    10
  5. All – just remember – you only have to get your picks right from tonight’s two teams!!

You have the rest of tonight and tomorrow to finalise the rest of your sides!!

    7

    1. Oh, really!? We can still switch around non-Richmond/Carlton players without consuming trades? Mad.

      2

      0
      1. no, tonight’s two teams and players will be locked out … but if unsure on your team set up, don’t worry about the whole team … just those players you want from tonight’s teams!!
Most will only be looking to ensure, Cripps, Pickett, Dusty … Doc? – then sit back, relax, blow the top off a few, and enjoy!!! ANF go back and make the rest of your choices later!!!

  6. Thoughts on Tom Lynch (Rich) ? Doesn’t have to play the top teams twice throughout the year. Possibly good pod

    1

    6
    1. I think so. Shorter quarters will mean tighter games. If he kicks winning goals he’ll score massively. But if he doesn’t …

      1. On this basis, do we have a source that lists players by DE%???
I’m thinking that those with best DE and also more kick to HB ratio are the ones we want yes????

        2

        0
  7. TU – get rid of dusty for dev smith giving me Whitfield, Smith, Lynch, Brayshaw and going Naismith r3

TD – keeping dusty going Whitfield, dusty, Lynch/Smith, Brayshaw and having xerri r3

    1

    14
  8. Anyone know of a source that lists players by DE??? … with short quarters, I’m thinking those players with best DE and also more by foot are more worthwhile than anyone else …

For me, this also means those players that will take the kickins from defence… brings Hurn, Sicily, Doc etc back into the mix no???

      1. Righto, Cheers for the Response.

Just the sub 100 massive 100 trend for cripps last year put me off. But now its gameday not having cripps scares me

        1. Can’t believe it’s game day!!
But one game won’t make a season, if you don’t want him for those valid reasons, I’d stick with what YOU are happy with. Just say he gets 80 tonight. I’ll be spewing and look like an idiot and you’ll be laughing.

Am hoping for 150 tho 😉

  9. F1 Whitfield, F2 Macpherson, F3: Ceglar, F4 Brayshaw, F5 D Smith F6 Fwd rookie or Townsend

Can afford if I have Naismith as R2

    Tu: yes

Td: no, swap the Ceglar/Naismith combo with Gawn and have D Smith at F3 or F4

  10. Change Macrae to Bont?
Shortened qtrs will suit impact players more than possession getters and CD loves the Bont, so his upscaling should be even bigger!
Got Dunkley as well,so can’t squeeze both in.
    Yay or nay?

  11. Fort has been named in center. Any reason i shouldn’t select him? Like he will defiantly be dropped next game?
Taking a gamble on Guthrie as well…

    1

    1
    1. I’ve gone him, even more so for AFL fantasy.

If he can hold R1 at Geelong for a while he will average maybe 105 a game and quickly out generate cash over any rookie, while generating top 6 forward scores.

Honestly he’s a vastly superior ruck option to Stanley, but Geelong cannot ever seem to give actual rucks a go since the big O…

  12. Still deciding on my F3, after the very common choices of Dusty & Whitfield

    TU: Macpherson
    TD: A Brayshaw(Freo)

    1. McPherson will be a top 10 and probably a top 6 forward this year but it will be a very bumpy ride.

Bradshaw is a lot safer, but I cannot see him making top 10 forward even with extra midfield time, so I think you have to lock in the extra trade.

I’ve gone risky, but am seriously tossing up this same dilemma.

  13. T/U Noble and Gawn

    T/D Byrne-Jones and Naitanui

Don’t really want to go in without Gawn but feel DBJ could be 95-105 and Naitanui could be anything.

  14. TU: Naismith as R2, allows me to get Ceglar as F4 and Petracca F3

TD: Gawn as R2, but then two rookies F3 F4

Feel like the three TU guys will get 80-90 each, which is more than Gawn getting 125 and rookies getting 60 at best. Plus more job security and less trades needed over the season 🙂

  15. Been weighing this one up after seeing the supercoach gods help us out with some scaling a fair bit last night! Looks like they’ll hand it out to the impact players and could say the fan favourites etc Pickett hahaha. After this I can’t decide do we go with Macrae the proven man who racks it up the last 2 years or his teammate the Bont who only cops that deboer tag once this year and doesn’t waste a possession + save some $$$

    TU Bont
    TD Macrae

    1. I asked the same question earlier, for the same reason.
I’m going Bont after Macrae was my first picked this year. The extra cash helped me grab a playing rookie as well.
With short season and thirty trades, I’ve gone for impact players even with injury risks. Got both Fyfe and Kelly now.

    1. Gawn & 123k rookie: 120 + 40

      English and Brayshaw: 90 + 90

Sure, the T.D option nets more points on paper but I’d favor Gawn and a rookie:
      – reliable captaincy option in Gawn and he has a huge ceiling
      – a basement rookie will make you some coin
      – English and Brayshaw might very well breakout this year, and even score more than 90, but there are bound to be some bum scores mixed in; eg. English is going to get smacked around by Grundy tonight

  16. Fwds are currently: Martin, Pettrapa, Ceglar, Brayshaw, D Smith, Budarick, Taylor, King.

    TU: Petrapa and smith stay
TD: Whitfield and Rookie (Sturt or the like)

  17. Can’t decide tossing up between Macrae or. Fyffe to complete my mids
Line up is Neale Cripps Dunkley & Titch

    TU. Macrae
    TD. Fyffe
    Thanks for your help
