Left Field Choices Rd23

Written by Schwarzwalder on August 20 2019

Which players (mid-price or otherwise) can you see having a big game on the weekend and influencing the result of a Grand Final?  Everyone has the likes of Nat Fyfe and Patty Dangerfield in their SuperCoach line-up but it might just be a ‘Rare Gem’ that steers the result in your direction.

My Tiger bias might be rising again, but I see Shane Edwards as a massive POD this week who would be a perfect loophole option for a GF.  He has been magnificent in recent weeks in the big games for Richmond and currently has a 3-Round AVG of 119.6 pts.  With a price tag of $468k, DPP status and in just 2.6% of teams, he might be invaluable in the end result.

Who is your left-field choice for the Grand Final this week?  Which POD do you see going large?

  1. If Menegola is picked against carlton he might be a good go. DPP and averages 124 in 2 matches against them .

  2. Got Edwards in last week for Cameron. Had Rozee for cover but the exrra 20 odd points got me into a few grannies.

  3. Great thread for GF week.

I’m looking moreso at teams who still have something (huge) to play for. Namely:
BRL, GEE, WCE, RIC, COL, GWS, ESS, WBD and the Adelaide teams (and HAW?)
    Of the MIDpricers, I’d consider:
    DEFs:
    Saad, Vlastuin, Howe and Houston
    MIDs:
    Taranto
    FWDs:
    Parish, Edwards, Elliott and Lipinski

    If I could afford anyone, I’d consider;
    Houli and Rampe. Maybe Rich
    Yeo and Treloar
    Marshall (and Worpel maybe)

If you’re using them as a loophole, you obviously want them to play earlier on the weekend. If they’re a replacement, it doesn’t really matter.
NB Port Adelaide may have nothing to play for come their first bounce on Sunday!

Despite that last point, I’m 90% sure I’m going Houston (onfield) with Crisp and Sicily looping at D6.

    Good luck all.

  4. Lyons, Prestia, Ross and Curnow

All averaging 110+ in their past five games, all less than 2% ownership

        1. Which is why Lyons probably won’t go big this week. Neale and Zorko will steal his points not being tagged.

  5. I also think Elliot (Coll) and Riewoldt could be a cheap option for a loophole. Plenty to play for…..

  6. I chose wisely last week by going Hill to Hanners instead of Goldy to Gawn.Maybe Hanners could be a cheap mid loophole against his old side.

  7. Could Pendles (only in 8% of teams) be considered a good left field choice? Has performed well in recent games against Essendon and has a 3 Rd Avg of 111.

    1. I can tell you, as a mad bombers fan, Pendles smashes us regularly. Glad there is nothing on the line for us this week. Mind you, I think if we beat pies, we might play them again week 1 of finals.

  8. Brought in Hannebery last week, considering flipping him to Josh kelly this week considering Kelly has the Gold Coast any reason to not do it?

    1. Someone will most likely cop Miller although he didn’t tag any hawks player I don’t think so maybe they won’t bother for the last game. Greene , Kelly or Whitfield would be the only possibilities
