The Hairy Cat has his say:
Buried in the article is the fact that for $2.95 a week there will be a SuperFooty Live HQ component which will be marketed as premium content. This is a new initiative which contains a fully interactive match centre featuring scores, stats, live SuperCoach points, news, video etc, etc etc. For more details and a screenshot go to http://www.slideshare.net/fullscreen/futureofjournalism/herald-sun-digital-subscriptions/8 – This also states that this will be the ONLY place for live scores which backs up earlier claims that the SC app will NOT contain live scores.
To me this means that the old quarter-by-quarter live stats that were available on the Herald Sun website are a thing of the past.
It also mentions that all premium news content/articles will be behind a ‘paywall’ but you will be able to view up to 5 premium articles a day (via google/search engines/social media links) without having to pay. So perhaps there is a way to still get the live scores for free (but I seriously doubt it).
Couple this with the fact they also sell Supercoach Gold which is separate to the above AND the paid Supercoach app contains ads then it sure does start to stink.
If you ask me this has the potential to push people away from Supercoach and move them to Dreamteam where they provide a free app which contains live scores plus all the free Dreamteam articles via the AFL website/twitter etc.
