Monday Analysis – R20

  1. Scored 2323 to win by 50. Happy to see a few boys back in form, Enright, Gilbert, Pods. Very happy with with the efforts from Scotland, Broughton, Simon Black. Warnock replacing Sandi was beautiful. Disappointed with Hodge, Malceski, Gilbee, Boyd, Goodes, Hall. I have 1 trade left but a pretty tough game ahead of me this week. I only have about 20k in the bank so I can only perform a sideways trade.

  2. 2481pts and now into the top 3000 overall. In three prelims this week.

2 trades left with $229,400 in kitty.
    Trade out options:
    >> DEF: Hodge(?), Malceski, Waters, Strijk, Sheppard
    >> MID: Bartel
    >> FWD: Pav, Brown

Keeping Rohan, Davis ’cause of DPP.

Not sure who to get in but Sir Nick Riewoldt looms large (is he dating an umpires sister?? .. he gets that much protection). Plenty of research to come. Want to use one trade this week and save one for next.

      1. Sure Jonesy. All advice warmly received.

MID: Swan, Ablett, Bartel, Cross, Murphy, Judd [Rohan, Gysberts]
        RUCK: Jolly, Hille [Browne, Fitzpatrick]
FWD: Harvey, Didak, Goodes, Pavlich, Franklin, Brown, Rockliff [Podsiadly, P. Davis]

        1. OK then I think you should keep the rest of them but you have to do something with Pav and Browny. And since you most of the expensive forwards you can choose from anyone at all. So the best forwards going around at the moment besides the ones you already have are:
Macaffer has been in great form lately
Stevie J easy last two games including West Coast at skilled
Leigh Brown also been in great form
And also Dale Thomas has had two good games
I hope this helps but this is only my first year

  4. 2522.
Won both matches and achieved not just my highest ever score but my first score above 2500. Needless to say it’s all good in my hood this morning. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Motts, how was ATCQ??

    1. I can’t speak for Motts but they were awesome, really tight for a group that broke up over a decade ago. The show was relentless, phife and q did a great job getting the crowd into a frenzy.

        1. Yep, Motts agrees with everything that was said by Gerhard (Berger – geddit?!?). The warm up act was pretty good too bashing out some old faves from the early 90s.

  5. Up against two big dogs this week in my leagues, both averaging about 100ppg more and scoring over 2300 this week. 1 trade and 80k in the bank, this might be the week to use it.

  6. Scored 2300 on my week off, 3 trades left and 120,000 in the bank. Not sure what to do, might swap J.Trengove for a cheapy for cash and upgrade Harwood this week and Henderson next week, or save one trade for injury coverage for next week if I make it..My team is
Backs:Godds, Hodge, Eski, Scotland, Grundy,Gilbee, Ellis (Trengove,Heath)Mids:Swan, Ablett, Hayes, Goodes, Judd, Harwood ( Hardingham, Mcneil)
    Rucks:Bradley, Skipper (Macauley, Bass)
Forwards:Chappy, Dids, Pav, Riewoldt, ROK, Rockliff, Henderson ( TDL, Griffiths). Any thoughts on where to go from here appreciated.

    1. What about downgrading Kepler/Trengove (Which one?) to a no name def and using the cash to turn Henderson into Franklin/Gia this week and maybe Harwood > Bartel/Gram next week if there are no injuries/suspensions?

  7. Used my last 2 trades in panic for the last round. Turned out I didn’t need to.
Scored 2,536 and came 598th overall.

Pretty happy with that, but worried about copping doughnuts going forward.

  8. I scored 2309 and I’m now into 3 prelim finals, but I ran out of trades 5 weeks ago. Ranked in the top 3,500 players. Wish I had saved a trade to bring in Roo.

  9. Anyone see Sheedy’s SC ‘tip’ in the paper on Friday?? It said that with the weather likely to be bad this round, that it’s better to select players that are playing at Etihad. Does this guy actually have any clue about how SC works?? I mean, can someone please sit him down and explain to him the 3300pt structure and that the type of game, the climatic conditions, the ladder positions of the respective teams, it is all largely IRRELEVANT. There are 3300pts to be split up amongst 44 blokes and that doesn’t vary too greatly, even if it is raining.

Can’t wait til he’s busy with GWS so he can’t stop his useless contributions to the great entity that is SC.

    1. Sheedy pfffft!!! I knocked him out of one of my league’s this week. I pity the fool who uses him as a SC resource.

    2. last year I needed a few more players to fill to complete my original team pre season, then heard Kevin Sheedy was releasing his final team in the H.S. the week before round one. So I copied those last last few players and what a bloody mistake that was. Kevin Sheedy is a SC dud.

  10. Sorry Roo Bloke but I’m stealing your set up ๐Ÿ˜€
3 trades left and 65,000 bank
    Trade out options:
    Backs: Hodge, Eski, J.Hunt
    Mids: Pav
    Forwards: Hall, Fyfe, Gumby
Might trade down Gumby to that Gourdis then upgrade Hunt to a Scotland or Duffman. Then next week trade out Fyfe to Franklin. And hopefully I will win my next game with Gourdis on the field ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I’ll reply to yours with the assumption you will return the favour.

Keep Hodge – everyone has him and you’d hate to miss out if he turns it around (which he probably will ’cause he’s Luke Hodge).

Hard to know without knowing the rest of your team BUT my first thought is
      Gumby >> cheap fwd/mid
Swap them with Pav and then …… Pav >> Riewoldt

Now, getting the calculator out, the price difference between Pav and Riewoldt is $129,000. With the $65,000 already in your kitty you need to get $69,000 out of the Gumby trade. Thus you are looking for fwd/mids player under $213,800.

      OPTIONS:
      Hicks $140,800
      Healey $100,200
      Winmar $94,000
      McNeil $83,400

Guess it means you are a player down in the mids though.

      Maybe Pav >> Shuey???

Maybe after Gumby to el-cheapo trade you would have enough for Rieowldt??

      0

      0
      1. Lol thanks I already Have Riewoldt. I could keep Pav in the midfield and trade him out for a cheapie thn put Blair on in the midfield. Then I could trade out Gumby for a premium forward. Here’s my team anyway:
Backs: Goddard, Hodge, Enright, H Shaw, Fisher, Eski, J Hunt (Maguire, Nason)
Mids: Ablett, Selwood, Judd, Mitchell, Didak, Pav (Blair, Jetta)
        Rucks: Jolly, Jamar (warnock)
Forwards: Riewoldt, Gia, Goodes, ROK, Hall, Fyfe, Hitchcock (Gumby, Jaensch)

  11. Playing Frosty this week for a spot in the GF, so I’m not going to give away too much ๐Ÿ˜› , but there are going to a change or two depending on Thursdays/Fridays teams selection of course.

      1. yeah HGLBCO, he towelled me up…never going to beat that as ive never scored anywhere near that much before…now that im out of that league i can reveal my status.

2 trades left, $148,500 left. Im in 2 prelims, should win 1, maybe both if i have a bit of luck.

My main priority is trading out higgins, and i have $496,100 to spend on a forward. Any ideas who I should get?

Other than that i think my team is alright, hopefuly i will only use 1 trade this week, and hope i get through for the Grand Final ๐Ÿ™‚

          1. Bulldogs have the Swans at the SCG this week though. Roos & Kirks last game at the SCG so it may be tough for them.

            0

            0
          2. Jude played his 250 a couples of weeks back, the Dees killed them by 12 goals. Dogs have a great record at the SCG as well against the Swans.

            0

            0
          3. Does that mean Browndog> Gia if he’s out PA?

It’s a bugger that we can’t reveal too much on here as it probably won’t change my decision anyway.

            0

            0
          4. Nah Ice, I have cover for Browndawg, so as I said yesterday my backs are pretty shaky, so that’s where I’ll be focusing on this week.

            0

            0
        1. Do you have the big roo?
Otherwise Daisy, Didak, Gia, Boomer are in scoring form. Maybe Goodes.
Chappy has been down (80-100 in last 5 weeks) so maybe he is in a diff role leading to finals, but still consistent and if he is let off the leash can score you 120-145.
Look @ your opponents f/l and decide if you want a guy who is a point of difference who can get you bonus points, or, if you want to nullify one of your opponents strengths by matching it via recruiting the same player.
Dids & Chappy are DPP and I think Boomer & Goodes are too.
Make sure you wait till after selection. ๐Ÿ™‚
          Good luck mate.

  12. Got my best score of the season 2425. Already was in the Prelim of my league. Still scored 200 more than anyone else in my league so pretty confident going into the Prelim against a guy who scored 2117.

Sandilands is my only concern although not a great one. Will probably keep him if he is out this week. But use my last trade if he is out in the last round.

FINALLY Luke Shuey played, Have had him since round 1 and he saluted with a great score even though he was on my bench.

Finally isnt it nice to know you have great bench cover with 2 rounds to go and one trade up you sleeve. No stress.

  14. Still alive in all 3 of my leagues! had the bye in two after a first up final win and managed to get a good win in the other (which is the toughest one). Now play the comp leader, who is actually currently ranked 1,458 outa the whole thing! His scores the last few weeks haven’t been as strong though, but probably because he has been saving up trades. I scored 2350 this week and scored 2300+ last week as well. So hoping i can take him down!! would be so sweet – he is a cocky bastard!

I have no trades though but have bench coverage. Hoping Cooney and Brown come back in for me this week. Especially Cooney!

  15. I came 16th in weekly ranking with 2643! ๐Ÿ˜€
3 trades left $41,200 in bank.
If Sandilands doesn’t come up I’ll trade him out for Mumford. (I wouldn’t trust Warnock to get 2 great scores in a row, and he’s also versing Geelong, best play it safe). Or I could just downgrade a player and if I win this week I’ll upgrade my last 2 players (Bower and Kennelly) that’s if there are no injuries or any star players are rested.

  21. Thanks Dazza I have shuey back with a 116 last week so happy with mid cover. Silvagni should be back this week too. So got cover in all areas.

Jonesy I think the only forward I would upgrade is brown if not playing. As I would only be making sideways trades otherwise.

Just hope we see sandi back this week tho with his recent scores warnock and trengrove have been better anyways!
