Monday Plans

Written by Motts on April 2 2012

So we’re half way through Monday. What changes have you got planned for this week? Will it just be a case of subbing a couple of blokes around in your existing squad? Or will trading be involved?

  1. Ok Im really p!ssed at myself for just one thing !!!!!!

Not sticking tight with my strict GnR strategy….

Lake,Clarke,Lake,Coniglio, ( did I mention lake) did not warrant the extra cash.Porps probably yes..just due to a couple of late useful touches and a goal

Im not upset for picking Broughton as I always wanted him and Im not upset for not picking Pendles cause I thought I’d get him later cheaper…Im also ok with my 1-0-3 ruck strategy

Rapt with all the rookies I chose

My Monday plan???? To have this rant and hopefully feel better after it 🙂

  2. as much as I’d like to drop the hammer on a couple (Lake and Clarke come to mind), I’ll swap some and give it another week… (wifey’s 2122 over my 2020…)

  3. I think I’ll make the Mohr/Morris trade this week and hold out on the Lake/Broughton until next week so I can see if Dempsey and Adcock/Birchall can back it up.

  4. I’m stuck between the idea of smashing out 4 trades in the next two weeks to get the best inform team i can possible field with 4 trades, so that going into the head to head in week 3 i smash it out! or I could keep the trades and abuse them later on to help with the devastating bye rounds.

  6. Disappointed with Lake. Also considering the Morris/Mohr trade like alot of other people. Pretty happy with the other rookies, but poor choices of who I had on the ground (Shiel over Smith, for instance)

Already got Broughton and had him for the past few years. Bit disappointed in his score but hopefully he can get it back up there.

Sticking with McIntosh for now, although if he pulles out another score similar to Giles, I might downgrade him to another rookie and use the spare cash to upgrade Lake.

  7. I know im not meant to trade after round 1 but it has to happen because my backlines a rabble. What do you guys think of Morris out for Mohr and then for me to upgrade Lake to Adcock with the spare cash from before the season.

  8. Scraped over 2000, but made the cardinal sin of 2 no scores as I got my rookies wrong and was too busy at work to change!!! This week, trade out the 2 rookies I got wrong, trade out Lucas next week and leave it alone for a while after that.

  9. Ok Guys and Gals here it is Dazza’s Rant
Backs-Not a bad effort from the backs was hopin for a better score from shaw but hell be better for the run only got let down by Clarke, and Morris.some will say they got let down by ellis but i disagree he got 50 on debut and hell get better. Only error i mad was i shouldve started Mohr on the ground instead of Morris. Dont plan on making any trades this week.
Mids-Cant fault my mids i had ledger on the pine if he doesnt play this week i might trade him out for Clay Smith. No trades this week
Rucks-Satisfied with Cox and Mumford theyll be better next week and my bench Giles and Redden i can see them pair making me alot of $$$$.No trades this week.
Fwds-I feel a bit letdown from most of my fwds Goodes-90 Martin-89 Dickson-30 Wilson-24 i made a bad error by not briging Kennedy in instead of wilson.I might make

Thumbs down GET RID OF HIM NOW, 30 IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR A PLAYER OF HIS STANDARDS

  11. I’m thinking of trading Mummy or Cox to Kreuzer, then lake to Dempsey.

This way I can have a bit of money in the bank for next week for an upgrade.

Hopefully this works so I can be set for round 3. You could say I’m throwing out trades to early but this way I could save trades for most of the start of the year with a reasonable interchange setup.

  12. Looking forward to playing with the new trade rules. I was thinking Lake out, smetts from fwd to cover lake, Kennedy from mid to cover Smetts, and C Smith in mid to run in my 2/0/6 mid. Equals Lake out, C Smith in + 160k.
    Thumbs up, yep
    Thumbs down, wait another week.

  13. Lake is the burning question for me. Really happy I had Magner on the field and Smith as an outside Rookie was a good move. This freed up some cash which i can use this week if deemed necessary. A couple of 50’s in the backline (Had Bugg on the pine) and Shiels 37 were dissappointing, with Parker’s injury very unfortunate. To Trade this week or not to trade????

    Thumbs Up: Lake to +Cock
Thumbs Down: Parker to Shuey (Or similiar priced Mid -510k or there abouts)

    PS Anyone Got Stanton?!?!?!?!

  14. Dont trade out premiums unless they have LTI. They are considered a premium for a reason. Dumping them after one round is a stupid waste of a trade

  15. Even though there’s a few players with the noose around there heads I won’t be trading this week, barring injury I’ll probably only drop lake and bring in bugg which is how I had it a couple hours before lockout

  16. Why are people so keen to trade coz and Mumford so early because kreuzer did well one week. He might only get 80 next week and cox 200 then will you trade again?! Trades are gold. Hold them

  17. Such is Life Rd1 Review.
    2185. 12,020th overall.
2nd in overall points in the SCT League of Extraordinary Coaches.
A solid start, but nothing outstanding.

    Backs:
    2 tons (Goddard, Deledio)
Content with Bugg and Ellis. 50 is okay for a first game, wasn’t expecting much more. Broughton (rather, Ross Lyon), Lake and Morris let me down and I’ll be expecting a lot better Round 2. Peter Yagmoor, I need moor.

    Mids:
    6 tons.
Couldn’t be more happy with them. Outstanding start to the season. Very pleased that I held on to Pendlebury and didn’t give in to the too expensive talk.

    Rucks:
    1 ton.
Neither Cox or Mumford looked at their best on the weekend after watching both their games, but still delivered satisfactory scores. Am expecting big things from the ruck brigade when these guys start to really turn it on.

    Forwards:
    3 tons.
Franklin and Fyfe showed why they will be the top 2 forwards in SC this season. Pavlich rallied late to almost hit the ton after being 20 at half time. Martin’s 89 I can handle, he’s only warming up. Dickson will have to do much better to hold his spot in the team, 30 is not good enough for a mature aged player. He’ll be on the pine Rd 2 for Hall or Couch.

Don’t often trade for Rd 2, as I’ll usually back my picks in for another week. Clay Smith looks a good prospect to grab before the bubble. And backline rookies may need a reshuffle before Rd 3 also.

  18. Hi,
I would like some advice please.
Round 1 of my first supercoach team, 2124. Just got my team in minutes before the first lockout, and had no problems with the website.
1: Rucks: Kruezer, Cox, Giles, Redden.
From what I can see, most people have only opted for the one premium ruckman. Why is that? I assume historically they just don’t score as well. Have I overloaded? Round 1 suggests that Giles and Redden should perform adequately, there’s a lot of points on the bench. My gut says Kruezer will be fighting for a spot in my team in a couple of weeks….Given he scored 125 this week I can’t justify getting rid of him just yet…or can I?

2: Enright disapointing. I’m a big Cat fan, rate him highly but I think I made a mistake by having Delidio in the midfield instead of defence. Should I throw Lids down the back instead of Enright and use that money on another premium Mid? Also, can I do that in one trade or has to be over two?
3: Lake shithouse. At this stage one more week but sense a straight swap for Hargreave…why not just do it now?
4: Get C Smith in for Shiel or Ledger…or sit tight for a bit?
I guess the question is, from your guys past experience, is it too early to start making moves?
Any advice, would love to beat my seasoned mates in my first crack at it!
    Cheers, Happy days

  19. I have a trading dilemma – I have Luke Parker, but no Kennedy or C Smith. I scored 2270 this week so very happy and sitting around 1500th.

Do I trade Parker for Smith or Kennedy, as I don’t want $280k sitting on the bench for another 2 or 3 weeks. This would free up nearly $200k which could come in very handy.

  21. Catta’s Clan is staying put this week, trading after 1 round without a LTI is sacrilege IMO…..at worst, give your players another week & if your still not happy trade them out before the bubble! 24 trades sound like a lot, but you are guareenteed to get injuries, players playing crap & 3 huge bye rounds coming up mid season.

SC Trades are GOLD, don’t waste them as it might feel good now but when it gets to the pointy end of the season…having trades is ALL the difference!

  22. Who should i pick as my captain this week?

    Dal Santo or Swan?

Dal Santo has played GCS once and he scored 189 and showed briliant form against port scoring 147

Swan’s last 3 games against Richmond he has scored 163, 190 and 149 but played terrible for Swans standard scoring 92 against Hawthorn

Im leaning to Dal Santo but who should i pick?

    Thumbs up Dal Santo
    Thumbs Down Swan

  23. The only way is up for Omen Blues. Currently ranked 89,088 overall and personally responsible for bringing down the LOEC1 league average (sorry guys) with a barely passable 2016 for Rd 1.

Got completely tangled up in a last minute rookie reshuffle after Pfeiffer’s omission and subsequently had Magner’s 102 stranded on the mid bench next to Kennedy’s 104 on the forward pine. Making matters worse, ended up with Boumann as a DEF rookie, who will be lucky to play another game of AFL football in his life. Only small mercy was that his 17 was thankfully on the bench next to Morris’ 30, that and the fact that I didn’t get Yagmoor.

Broughton was unseen in the second half of the game which makes me concerned about his opportunities to run through midfield. If Lyon doesn’t release him a bit more against the Swans next week it could be all aboard the Birchall Express prior to Rd 3.

Happy with the first-off performances of the majority of premiums. The obvious exception was Broughton but would also like to see some significant improvement from Scotland and Martin.

There will be no trading action down at Evil Rd this week but the players have been put on notice, Omen is only slightly less aggrieved than Mark Neeld this week. Morris, Boumann, Dickson are all loaded in the rookie canon ready to be blasted in an early re-shuffle. Magner’s ankle injury, Ledger’s dissappearing act, Cley Smith’s promising form and Pendlebury’s blitzing performance are all major issues on the selectors’ minds as we roll into Rd 2.

On the up side, no Lake.

I think that I will wait one more week as Lake does have the potential to score really well.

  27. Also a big congratulars out to all of the fellow SCTers who are in the league “I LOVE SC”.
Debut on the league rankings in 39th out of 33629 other teams. My score of 2154 was enough to place me in 10th on the ladder! I’m in for a fight in this league that’s for sure.

  29. Sydney versus Port and Freo versus the Lions both should score big I reckon

GC versus ESS and GWS versus WC, both players in the 50 to 70 bracket I reckon

Captain choice will be the key, leaning towards Gazza at home.

  30. Motts and Co, just wanted to confirm the aim of the SCTTL’s is for overall points scored, not league win. Orignally I thought it was for the league win, however I read something here the other day saying it was for overall points and you were planning on combining the highest points scorers from all the SCTTL’s for the finals series. Can you confirm this for me and any others who are not sure please? Thanks.

  33. Ok guys I’m pretty sure im going to stick with this trade I made earlier

    Out: Lake, Clarke
    In: Birchall, Paine

I’m not going to trade broughton this week (I can’t anyways) but I think he’ll come good, next week depending on if ledger gets a game or not I’ll probably trade him out for clay smith, then maybe Smeone else for one other cach cow. Other then that I don’t see myself needing to do anymore trades for a few weeks at least.

  34. Anyone else sucked into selecting Yagmoor?
Can only imagine he’s been dropped this week, looked terrible against the Hawks.
What do we do with him? Sideways trade to someone on the bubble next week or just hold onto him?

  36. i can deal with not having Pendles atm, i cant deal with a $500k defender not scoring 90+’s. yes Broughton, i am talking about u. YOUR FIRED.. Lyon has cost me an early trade which i swore i wouldnt do. his role on Stevie J. is a sign of things to come me thinks.

    Up – Adcock

    Down – Birchall..

    comments or ideas please, cheers.

  37. Team: JuNioR MaFia
    Score: 2085
    Rank: 51,057

The Good: Rookie love from Magner & Smith (102 x 2) plus Kennedy’s unexpected 104pt score, Kreuzer (125) staying true to pre season form, Gazza (139) defying the odds against a new look Adelaide Crows with Dangerfield (93) finally proving his worth after a slow start. Franklin was everyone’s Buddy with 142pts & Goddard’s 116pts confirms his automatic selection to every coaches backline.

The Bad: Ellis (50) was ok but was more disappointed with Morris (30)….both looked a lil overwhelmed but get more games into them & they’ll improve in both skill & confidence. Broughton (57) went missing alot during the match & Lyon seems to like him as a defensive player but then again he was playing against the reigning premiers. Lets hope Lyon might experiment with him more in the midfield against poorer teams to see if he can cut it as an elite midfielder. McIntosh (77) was always gonna be a risky but I’ll give him a few more games to see if he fits the kanga’s ruck strategy.

The Ugly: Putting the big C on Goodes (90)….I went for a risky payoff & went bust. Thought Goodes might tear up GWS but the only teared up was the my herald sun after seeing his score. Boumann (17) will probably not play another AFL game this season….just too out of his depth for a team that’s a finals contender. Lake (30) was the punt we all knew could go either way. However, it’s the first game of the season & you don’t put down a horse just cuz it loses it’s first race. He can’t go much lower so the only way is up #thinkingpositive

Lots of trade talk goin on here….plenty of itchy trigger fingers, remember if you have the SC app you can’t change back your trades unlike the PC. But if you need to trade….trade smartly.

Good luck this week to everyone here & shout out to SCT LoEC 2…. Getting big numbers in this league

  38. I’m definitely perplexed with all the talk of pre round one trades. One game doesn’t make a season, and surely everyone that has the time to discuss SC on a site such as this would have put more than a few hours into deciding on their rd1 side. Have a bit of faith in your initial selections, especially your RD1 low scoring rookies (that’s assuming they played).
Personally, my worry is Cripps. But I think I will persist with him due to lack of fwd rookie options not already in my side.

    0

    0
  39. Personally I’m disappointed I got lake, I think with the intensity of the game these days he’s not up to it, maybe if he could get a game in the forward line, but looks like he’s gonna be the 2nd or 3rd defender with their injuries, took a gamble and dint pay off so I’m gonna drop him before he loses value, you can’t honestly say he will do MUCH better against Tippet,Walker and possibly Jacobs resting up forward next week.
1 burnt trade isn’t a big deal, you are always going to burn a few in the first few rounds especially with missed rookies.

As for mumford cox broughton and all the other premiums that is a different story, definitely don’t trade them unless they get injured, broughton especially, he’s not a consistent 90+ scorer he has bad games but then he goes off for 150+.

SCT LOEC2 good work, gonna be a tough year.

  40. Alot of people are going to burn a trade getting rid of Lake this week.

I was one of the people burnt by Lake last year.
I didnt know he was injured, So i told myself never again.
This year i realised he was injured last year, so i gave him another chance.

Yes i know he did crap but he played against Cox and Nic Nat who were resting up forward.. So of course they never went ball hunting down the ground. So he was stuck in the Goal square. And its almost impossible winning a marking contest against those 2.

Next week if i’m correct, he’s playing Adelaide so he will probably be on Tippett and i wont be surprised if he follows Tippett up the ground if Tippett goes ball hunting. This can see Lake rack up his usual points.

Keep him in the team one more week..
If your not confident, put him on the bench,
but i dont see a need

  41. First of all, how good is it to have Supercoach back! Loved it!
I was happy with my team overall especially the majority of my rookies (Morris was not great and why did Ledger not play …).
lake was my biggest problem. I know he had his hands full, I know it is just one game but 30? That is a horrible score. My plan in recruiting Lake was to make some cash and upgrade him to a gun. At worst this will not happen, at best it is a longer process.
What to do with Brian Lake? I think I will trade him. Why? What if Morris does not come up? What if Ledger is not picked? What if I get a LTI next week? I only get two trades next week, I think it is best if I move on from the Lake issue now.

    Now, who to get …
    UP – Hargrave
    DOWN – Dempster

  43. Ablett for sure out of the two SD,

    4 of his last 5 games v Saints he’s returned 138,154,105 & 123 ( I could’nt get the other games score for some reason)

Pendles last 4 games v Tigers he’s returned 132, 84, 116 & 87, in saying that Pendles looks in ominis form & could smack out another 150+. Either way I hope they both smash out big scores as I have both of them in my line up!

  44. 2098/GAJ ranked 44, 453.
Pretty happy for a round 1 score.
Defenders: happy with Goddard, Lids, Bugg, Bower. Heater can do more and Broughton will get another chance – hard to say what RL has in mind for him. Had Clarke, Ellis, Morris also.

Mids: GAJ, Joelwood, and Murphy cracked the tonne. (Had Magner & C, Smith on the bench). Thought A Swallow might have done a bit better. Had Parker and Shiel also, Parker looks promising.

Ruck: Mummy – should improve. Giles did better than expected as did Redden on the bench. Also BIG O.

Fwd: Buddy, Fyfe, A kennedy centurians. Expect more from Goodes and Martin. Porps was good as was D Smith and Hall, wait and see about Dickson.

Happy with the way things went. After all the headaches leading up to Rd 1 re rookie selection I will have a bit of faith in them and see how they go. No trades this week that I can see. If Pendles continues in this weeks manner will look at bringing him in after Rd 2.

  45. Thumbs up: Terry Milera and Clay Smith
Thumbs down: Dylan Shiel and Devon Smith

I had the second option for round 1 and let me down. The first option scored heavily but I’m not too confident on Milera. I will make my final decision seeing the teams on Thursday!

  46. sup fella’s its me… again.

so Keepz Kill Krew didnt break 2200 as hoped.
    2181 – 12,715.

not bad, dirty i had Morris instead of Ellis on the field, that would’ve put me over the 2200 mark, oh well.

gonna put Pendles as my captain this week… someone else here posted that Ablett has done better against the saints than Pendles against the Tigers, but i reckon he will smash em.
Going to keep Parker (Syd) i really do reckon he will smash it when he comes back.

oh btw, my missus got 2207 in her 1st try at supercoach.
