Most Loved Player

Written by Motts on May 4 2011

On the back of Roo Bloke’s man-love for Boomer today I’ve put a poll together on the players we most love/most love to watch. Funnily enough, once I started putting in the options for it I discovered that a lot of these blokes are captains. I haven’t included past players to keep it succinct. So like George Thorogood said: Who Do You Love?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. Have always enjoyed watching Judd play the game. Other notables which should be worthy of inclusion in the poll: J. Riewoldt & L. Franklin. Plenty of man love to those two big key forwards as well.

  2. When Adam Goodes is up and running, there aren’t too many better sights in AFL football.
His size, pace and natural ability combine to create my favourite player in the game right now….
Not too mention a lil’ bit of black magic 😀

  3. My most loved player by far is Joel selwood. I rarely confess my man love, but since others are i thought why not. Just love the way he goes about the game. Amazing player.

  5. I love Buddy, Paddy and Jack Riewoldt.
I love it when a ball is kicked long in their direction, you just know they’re gonna do something with it.

  6. BOOMER!!

If i was restricted to voting from another club it’d be Goodesy and Judd for the way they can almost single handedly win a game through sheer will and determination. Love ’em both.

  7. Judd breaking from the bottom of pack with his amazing accelaration is great to see.

But a dominate Jonno Brown at full fitness it a great sight.

  8. Joel Selwood?? whats good about watching a player duck his head and try to get a free kick everytime he goes near the ball!!

Buddy, roo and judd r the best players to watch in our game!!!

  9. Past players would have to be Brett Kirk, but for me I just love the way that Leigh Brown leaves nothing in the kit and has made the most of a second chance, not the most gifted or the best player or the fastest, and he makes it look like hard work, but you know what you are going to get and that is all he has got!

  10. Current players. When chappy is on he’s a freak and he doesn’t miss. Juddy and Goodes a given. Plus GAJ shreds it.
Most lovable player past would have to be Richo. The giant dummy spitting teddy bear. Dont think there was a single player in crown who wasn’t secretly hoping richo was going to win the browlow that year.

  11. current players my only real man crush is for inspector gadget, maybe an odd pick but as a die hard essendon fan knowing that anytime the opposition kicks the ball long into their forward line it will have to somehow make it past fletchers fist. Plus nothing gets me more pumped than the two 70m goals a year he kicks when he’s left alone on centre half back!

  12. BRETT KIRK!!! But of the current players it’s hard to go past jumping Jack Riewoldt! Everytime he goes near the ball something will happen. He is an excitement machine

  14. Interesting that there’s been no love for big Cox.
I would have thought Daniel from our SCT Facebook photos above would have voted for him.

  15. Nah I’m not saying Selwood does not put his head over it but when we r talking man love everyone’s always sayin he is stand alone in the courage department, when I think hodge, Lenny, roo, ball, maxwell, moloney and sewell to name a few r right up there to, but they don’t get the man love they should!!!!

  17. Past player
Rohan ” Bubba ” Smith, probably the best kicker I’ve seen at the Doggies and just loved it when he’ll kick those 60m goals.

  18. From the past Paul Kelly leads the list for me, such great determination, leadership and character. Close behind Bucks, Voss and Richo.

Currently, Hodge would be my favourite with Goodes only just behind him but a one D.Martin catching very quickly on them both.

  19. As a west coast supporter I always enjoyed watching peter matera ,dean kemp ,chris judd and ben cousins all bursting out of the midfield , and all of em very special footballers in my eyes . Another footballer was Peter dacios (collingwood) was a great player to watch ,he set the standard for the modern day footballer today, he was born 20 years too early . he kicked amazing goal from the boundary on a reg basis , just a freek . didak is in the same mold as dacios .

  20. No love for the flagpies?? I would’ve thought that the undefeated top of the table, reigning premiers might’ve copped a nomination.

That said. My choice in today’s game would be the big Harry O followed by Scott Pendlebury.

From other clubs: Budddy, Goddard, Pav, Chappy, Jurrah & Goodes
