Motts’ Movers R11

by Motts on June 3, 2009

Haven’t got a lot of time on my hands this week so I’m putting all positions in the one post.

Backs
Looking to trade out The Chad? Me too. Here are some super options:

  • Xavier Ellis ($392,100, 78.33) – this Top 10 draft pick had his average seriously skewed by the game against the Roos when he broke his foot (he scored 26). The other 2 games he’s played he’s scored 95 and 135. Do yourself a favour.
  • Jed Adcock ($413,200, 85.60) – has scored 113 and 106 in his last 2 rounds showing he’s back to form. Will shoot up in value this week.
  • Nathan Bock – ($489,800, 99.17) – not super cheap but check out that average. If your morals allow you to name a wife-beater in your team you couldn’t do much better than this guy.
  • Greg Broughton ($164,600, 78.67) – I normally only name 3 but couldn’t resist Greggy B. His biggest hurdle has been getting picked but with a 90 last week (and almost doubling in price in the process) he’s making it hard to knock him back.

Here are the blokes to avoid:

  • Adam Hunter ($328,200, 62.71) – hasn’t scored over 73 all year. Clearly not the player he once was.
  • Jared Rivers ($289,800, 63.33) – Troubled by injuries the last couple of years and just doesn’t get enough of the nut on a regular basis.
  • Harry O’Brien ($336,300, 70.00) – plays a blanketting role more than a rebounding role. Look elsewhere.

Mids
I’m not going to muck around with cheap recommendations in the midfield this week. These guys are all risk-free guns that you can’t go wrong with:

  • Adam Goodes ($547,200, 110.60) – has cracked tons in all but 3 of this year’s games. Surprised no-one in our league has him. Might change that this week.
  • Dane Swan ($553,000, 113.10) – see last week’s game? ‘Nuff said.
  • Leigh Montagna ($600,200, 123.80) – two 94’s and eight centuries. Oops.

Don’t think about:

  • Michael Rischitelli ($286,000, 66.20) – has dropped $152k since the beginning of the year. You might consider him a bargain at this price. I don’t.
  • Travis Johnstone ($322,500, 71.11) – how are the Lions travelling? 2 of their once-good midfielders (and a certain full forward – more on him later) are crap and they’re still 4th on the ladder. Trav’s now struggling to get picked.
  • Chris Masten ($304,900, 58.11) – I almost picked this guy at the beginning of the year based on some of his 2008 performances expecing a break out year. Thank you Tel for talking me out of that one. Hasn’t topped 80 all year.

Rucks
Fed up with Michael Gardiner’s bad habits? Have a look at:

  • Mitch Clark ($410,700, 74.90) – Triple figure scores in the last 3 rounds make this guy hot property right now. Pretty cheap too.
  • Drew Petrie ($473,600, 91.50) – Has always been a pretty safe bet because he plays up front too. 100+ scores in 5 out of the last 6 games.

Run away from:

  • Michael Gardiner ($261,600, 59.50) – suspended this week and whilst he’s play more games than he has in the past, he hasn’t scored more than 84 in any of them.
  • Kurt Tippett ($394,700, 73.70) – sorry Neil, I know you’ve got him, and its true he has the occasional good game (123 v Melbourne, 107 v Carlton) but his inconsistency must frustrate the hell out of you (29 v Hawthorn, 16 v Collingwood). Has gone up $112k this year, won’t go much higher.

Forwards

  • Daniel Giansiracusa ($452,700, 92.10) – has increased his score week-by-week since R6 culminating in last week’s 159 against Sydney. Represents great value at this price. Jump on.
  • Nick Riewoldt ($600,100, 113.60) – surely this guy needs no explanation.
  • Jonathan Brown ($414,900, 86.50) – represents one hell of an opportunity this week if you’re looking for immediate impact. Loves playing Carlton and has dropped $124k since the beginning of the year. Can monster opponents. Worth the risk.

Pick these blokes at your peril:

  • Quinten Lynch ($405,900, 73.10) – mirrors West Coast’s fortunes this year. With the midfield unable to deliver it to him laces out on the chest he’s struggled.
  • Alwyn Davey ($316,200, 70.30) – needs to take a few tips from his brother. And I’m not talking about Andrew.
  • Luke McPharlin ($333,600, 63.60) – hasn’t scored over 100 all year and in any case faces a fitness test this week after corking a hip last week against the Tiges.

Good luck to you this week. Unless of course you’re ICS.
