Motts Movers R9, 2012 – The Backs

by Motts on May 30, 2012

Premiums

Heath Shaw ($578,500, 109.29, 104) – 4 tons on the trot and actually has a higher last 3 game average than Lids.

Brett Deledio ($610,300, 122.33, 86) – Gun. Nuff said. Yet to miss raising his bat in 9 rounds.

Beau Waters ($516,800, 102.22, 46) – Makes Mottsy’s Top 5 for Toughest Blokes in the AFL. And over the last 2 weeks has gone for 132 and 128.

Mid-Pricers

Michael Johnson ($470,500, 97.11, 57) – Very close to getting drafted into The Maulers to give the team extra flexibility (I already have Smedts).

Brad Sheppard ($327,500, 63.25, 14) – Bit of a leftfield recommendation but he’s relatively cheap and he’s already managed to score a century (in R8). Last week he scored 78.

Courtenay Dempsey ($327,500, 75.57, 12) – I’m not a massive fan of Courtenay’s. He teased supercoaches early with a 98 and a 111 in Rounds 1 & 2 then went down in R3 with a knee injury (which he’s susceptible to). Came back in R6 and scored 61 then followed that with a 73 and a 76 before belting out another ton last week. I’m giving him a shout out for that and it’ll probably make everyone happy who’s got him but if you don’t, I wouldn’t recommend you brought him in.

Colin Garland ($390,100, 74.11, 26) / Jared Rivers ($373,600, 76.33, 33) – Couldn’t split ‘em.

Value Picks

Sam Darley ($113,200, 52.50, -39) – Scored 82 first up and then was made starting sub in his second game so don’t read too much into it. I just don’t know how long he’ll last so caveat emptor.

Josh BOOTS!ma ($106,600, 40.50, -8) – Love the way he goes about it but he’s living on borrowed time I reckon. Once Laidler’s kneecap relocates and Yazz’s toe de-turfs his position in the Blues backline would be seriously threatened.

Jack Dyer medal winging its way to you lids. One of a handful true consistent guns this season.

Reckon Cotch could push him.

To be fair, Dempsey’s 61 came from a sub affected game. He was on track for the ton that week as well

depends how you are set for the byes. He is my only round 11 player so he is a keeper for me for the time being

You reckon he will get consistent games?

Bugg has been performing well enough to warrant a long-term inclusion in my team; I know last week was a downer for him. I just don’t see Darley as a worthy replacement, even with the cash you’d make.

Are you sure Bugg will continue to rise in cash though?

IMO you would be better off offloading Bugg his BE is 80 his last 3 scores 55,68,48 i cant see him makin his BE.

Bugg won’t make his BE this week and will stay around the same price for the rest of the year. He will fluctuates with his role in the side from tagger to loose man. No point keeping him though as won’t average anywhere near over 85 and therefore won’t be a playing keeper. He could be very good bench cover but with Sheeds rotating door of selection and he said young kids only will play 14 games.

Darley is the only viable back downgrade target that can be seen on the horizon. Docherty maybe but he is 50K more expensive, therefore I don’t think is worth it. Aylett has been talked up alot but won’t get a run for a least 3-4 weeks as he is just off the injury list and hasn’t played a game in the magoos yet. You can play it very safe and then get left behind not grabbing the ‘good’ downgrade targets when they are on the bubble. Or you can take the small risk and get them. He has very good scoring potential he got like 40 DT points in one quarter and 23 SC points the disparity was probably due to the game being over. And 82 in his first full game.

I’m in the same boat mate as are lots of people. Waters is looking a tastey trade up option after his bye.

seems like the butt is a pretty reasonable choice. Doesnt look possible for him to go below 100 this year, i think he’s a pretty good choice, but then again its hard to not go with ablett.. ever.

I wouldn’t go Selwood people playing GWS have had a hard time getting those SC points. Teams playing GC can though. So anyone from Collingwood should logically score well. I’ve just traded in Beams and thinking of going him. His ceiling is very high and should easily score over 100.

Stanton had the best 3-5 game average until last week when he had a poor game (which he is prone to occassionally). He doesn’t normally have 2 bad games in a row …

what about Trengove?

Gooby May 30, 2012 at 9:33 pm

trengove looks way too inconsistent, too many 50′s and 60′s for me. same with jared rivers (from this write up). Sheppard intrigues me though.. Do we think his JS is good enough? Thats one of the reasons i really like mackie.. because he is guaranteed a spot.

Also guaranteed an average of 70ish. Why trade someone who is averaging 60 to someone who is averaging 72. You need people in your team that are at least averaging 90, preferable 100. Get some more money and get either Scotland, Goddard, Delideo, Shaw or Birchall. Or if you can wait a few weeks Fisher is going to be below 450K and will be very good upgrade target.

I’ve gone Morris > Darley to get some cash. Will then use that in the coming weeks to go Clarke > Fisher for only 70K.

yeah but morris is more likely to go below that average where mackie is much more likely to go above that, and ive only got 7 trades left on the completion of this one so i need to just get a solid player i can leave in there for a while, so i dont want another rookie and i dont have any other money to look for a bigger upgrade without using more trades. which is why i need a player who will score well week in week out with this trade

Having a tough time choosing between:-

Scotland – thumbs up
Waters – thumbs down

Scotland is a seasoned scorer and with Murphy out may spend more time in the midfield.

Waters is also proven but there’s something about him making me lean toward Scotland. Might be that West Coast players end up playing different roles which makes there scoring up and down. ie Broughton.

Enright ? Wow , at 466k looks really tempting , proven performer in a good side , low BE . I’d rate him way of the Michael Johnston IMO , both similar pricing .

Enright TU
Johnson TD

Clarke has GC then Melb, could junk it up and get 90′s. Both not keepers IMO but for short term keep Clarke,
