  1. Trading Dixon out, what is my best option? (Money not an issue)
T/U Get the Duffman/Hanley in at any cost
T/D Downgrade to Hartlett and get more cashed up for premium midfield upgrades

  2. Great format Motts. One name you mentioned jumped out as a possible POD defender later in the season when he goes cheap & i up-grade the last defender rookie – Mr Bob Murphy. Currently 455,400 with BE82. L3 Ave 93.7, L5 Ave 92.4, Ave 90.
Scores of 106, 68, 67 (scores prior to being out injured for 3), 114, 87, 97, 97. PA would know more, but if he played injured in rounds 2 & 3 & you take these scores out, he has averaged 101.2. Not saying to get on yet, but monitor for when <400K later in season.

  3. I’m intrigued to see what Ryan Griffen can dish up in the second half of the year. I had a good mate of mine considering getting him in this week and my general feeling is against players from lower teams who are the first tag option most weeks.

I went and had a look at him and, due to not playing rounds 5 and 6, Griffen has only played one top 8 team all season: Fremantle, Round 2, 89 points.

On his 12 game home stretch he plays second, third, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth (also ninth and tenth, both of whom he has previously played for scores of 119 and 53).

You would think that he would be OK against Hawthorn as they really don’t tag too much (especially when they back in their midfield to beat the opposition. For the best example see round 17 last season against Collingwood where they allowed Swan to have 49 touches, Beams 34, Pendlebury 34 and Sidebottom 29, but still won by 47 points).

Against the other sides though? Historically you don’t score well against Sydney and Griffen is no exception. Two hundred from 10 games (although it should be noted that his last game was one of these and it was a whopping 170). Against Essendon he will get Hocking and he hasn’t scored over 100 since 2009. And against the rest you would assume tags from Crowley, Macaffer, Carrazzo and S Selwood/Wellingham.

Overall, I just feel that at least from this stage onwards, he won’t be a top 8 midfielder.

  4. Was thinking about Hartlett, but think he is too muck of a risk, IMO Port’s draw for the 2nd half of the season isn’t great.

It will be out of the Duffman and Hanley to swap places with Terlich

And about the controversy above me, when the T/U and T/D for this or that player is used it’s basically trade talk……not that im picking sides that’s what i think personally

  5. Honest mistake on my behalf. I’m a big fan of the website and need all the help I can get with SC. I live overseas and don’t get to see too many games live. SC Talk is high on my favorites list. Love the analysis and chat, all very helpful. Keep up the good work!

  6. Interested to know Cam Hitchcock’s job security down at Alberton Motts.

Had a lot of time off due to injury over his short journey but could well take Neade’s spot in the line up and for $128K he’d be one of those handy bench players/downgrade option if he doesn’t get lobbed with the vest like he did in both of his appearances in 2012 and for a fair chunk of 2011.

Hasn’t posted many massive scores in his career but the worm might turn for him now that Ken Hinkley has the reins and ‘wanted him in the side sooner’.

Might have just answered my own question there… he gets a crack at GWS this weekend before going on the bubble so worth a look then I guess!

  7. Big Richmond fan (even when it’s equivalent to torture sometimes), barely missed a Richmond game between 1991-2004. Moved to Germany in 2005. Supercoach is a good way of keeping in touch with friends and football……
