Motts Movers R11 – The Mids

Written by Motts on June 7 2011

The Movers has been abridged today. Motts is very busy going through all the applications to be part of The League of Extraordinary Coaches next year. If you’re keen to be part of what I’m expecting will be The Greatest Supercoach League of All Time, email me (motts@supercoachtalk.com) with your average so far this year and what psuedonym you use if you comment on the site.

Thrillers

Andrew Swallow ($496,300, 193, 114.6, 14)

  1. Do you think she Swallow brothers will end up playing on the same team one day?

    Thumps up – Yes

    Thumbs down – No

Comments stating either way also would be good!

  3. This is a tad off topic, but I see nowhere else to bring up this topic.. Is anyone else starting to see the logic in downgrading Sandi -> Vardy??

You pocket an enormous 400k in one trade. With this amount of coin, you can make a number of upgrades. For example, I have 2 back, 1 mid and 1 forward upgrade to do until my whole side is premium. I could do this with 1 single downgrade trade, whereas normally I would have to make around 3 downgrade trades in order to make 4 upgrades. That saves me at least 2 trades and allows me to keep guys such as Darling/Harris/Stanley as bench cover for the whole year, rather than having blokes that may be in and out of the senior side come SC finals time, when bench cover is paramount.

At the moment there doesn’t look to be any viable downgrade options, it’s basically just trade in hope. So to make any upgrade I would just have to downgrade a cashcow to a rookie who may or may not get a game. Zac Smith is also arguably in the top 3 2nd ruck options in the comp at the minute, so it’s not as if you are losing that much by continuing to play him anyway. By the time Sandi comes back, which I think will be after his bye, that is a long time with that much money wasted..

    Thoughts???

  5. Is it possible that G.Ablett will be the most expensive player by years end? Playing for GCS. That would be incredible.

  6. I like the way of thinking with bench players half points and choose your own team layout eg.seven forwards eight mids, three rucks, four backs different ball game
    thumbs up could work
Thumbs Down stick to supercoach it’s good that opponents can get donuts and also you can’t reward people for mediocre trade/bench selections

  7. Pendles v Swan
    120 v 166
    162 v 152
    94 v 108
    132 v 163
    130 v 106
    103 v 104
    Bye
    109 v 98
    124 v 80
    138 v 86
    149 v 94

I’d say that there’s little evidence to say that Pendles scores are high because Swan’s are low. In each of Swan’s three 150+ games, Pendles has scored 120+.

Also worth noting how poor Swan’s scores have been if you exclude the three 150+ scores whereas Pendles has seven 120+ scores.

  8. What are your guys thoughts on Cotchin…Currently have a midfield of

Swan, Mundy, Priddis, Selwood, Goddard, Cotchin.

Im not sure whether I should keep Cotchin and save the trade or upgrade him to another “premium”.

Thumbs up: Cotchin is a keeper for the year
Thumbs down: Have to get rid of him if you’re serious about winning

  9. Thanks guys, I’m thinking of holding on to him for a few more weeks and hopefully Boyd drops down to around 480,000 making it a cheap upgrade.
