Take it easy Motts, you’re doing a great job. What are everyone’s thoughts on Grant Birchall? Good finals draw, won’t get rested, and with that chip-to-chip style of footy Hawks are playing at the moment, do you reakon he could be a good POD?

I’m 99% sure I’m bringing him in this week. Agree 100% with you on all those benefits.

Yeah Motts, as Busta said you are doing a fantastic job! I took your opinion on Fisher a few weeks ago and it’s paying great dividends.

I agree, Motts your suggestions are always pure gold swaying me in my decision making and have helped me reach where I am and a little closer to the $1600 kitty we have got going if I win I’ll buy you a couple of slabs!

Just wondering if during the increased workload you could find your way to the local hardware store and pick up a cup of CEMENT!
See you on Sunday when your guys are going to need plenty of the aforementioned to overcome our boys.

You overcome Port Adelaide at home by less than the 40 points I needed for my multi and all of sudden you’re flying high??
Try dismantling Sydney before you start bumping your gums, Deano.
Look forward to sharing a frothy with you.

Can’t see the Eagles getting anywhere near it in Melbourne.
Saw them against the Suns from the rock ape section and if one elite midfielder can damn near cause the upset of the century I can’t see them travelling across the country to overcome two.

I’m currently battling the following scenarios…
Current Backline is (@ full strength): Deledio, Gibbs, Goddard, Grundy, Heppell*, Hibberd*, Stanley*. (Puopolo*, Duigan*, Strauss*)
Midfield: Pendlebury, S. Thompson, Ablett, Hodge, Boak, Rockliff. (Foley, Krakouer, Jacobs)
Rucks: Cox, Sandilands. (Smith, Tippett)
Forwards: Franklin, Fyfe, Harvey, Goodes, Petrie, Riewoldt, Riewoldt. (Mzungu, Lynch, McKernan)
Clearly in need of an upgrade or two in the backline but I feel the other positions are set however with 8 trades and 446K left what is the safe option out of these…?
1) Put Fisher in next week for Heppell and ride it out until finals?
2) Trade Shaw for Heppell this week (BE’s be damned) and roll the dice until finals time with the Fisher trade next week also (Most likely for Stanley or Duigan).
3) Do all of the above, pray to the injury and suspension gods and upgrade Foley (140 BE and currently sitting on the bench) for Swan (132 BE) this week also?
Main aim is to win every grand final possible but a top 1000 finish wouldn’t go astray either
Just not sure I could get over the line with 5 trades and next to zero in the bank following round 14.

Wanted to welcome you wholeheartedly to the whole posting she-bang so i’ve gone in detail for you.
Fisher – 112.7 season avg
Shaw – 100.2 season avg
Fisher is averaging 12.5pts per game more.
Across their remaining 10 games (Rnd 15-24) that’s 125pts.
Fisher has a bye this week though so deduct his average and he will score you 12.3pts across the whole season.
Assuming though you’ve got a playing cash cow so add his season avg on top and you may be staring at 90-100pts across the whole of the season that option Fisher will earn over option Shaw.
All that said though, if your coverage down back is non-existent through injury / suspension / form effected and you’ll be copping a doughnut this week then it’s probably worth getting Shaw and backing him to make up the 12.3pts across the season.
Does this make sense???
Of course this doesn’t factor in:
- predicted form fluctuations or assessment of upcoming opposition
- other options (Mr Brett ‘Consistency’ Deledio is a must if you haven’t got him)
- your ladder position and your draw in your leagues (can you afford to ‘wait’ a week for Fisher or are you struggling and need a win)
Bottom line … Fisher ‘should’ score you more points over the season than Shaw, particularly if your cash cow is playing this week.

Like the ‘S’ boys at Hawthorn have stepped up to cover all the injuries, i felt i needed to step up to cover the big outs of you and Big Sexy. I’m tipping you’ll both be late withdrawals from this weekends SCTalk team.

Thats awesome RB…. love the detail!!
I probably should been more helpful and put more detail in my question but I was in the dunny with my iPhone and thought I’d give this commenting a go. But yeah I do have sufficient cover for my backs and was looking to upgrade either Heppel/Duigan/Stanley to Fish next week, but wanted to get the general opinion on Fish v Shaw. Shaw for mine even tho has a 100+ ave is a bit too inconsistent pulling 70s then 130s which could be crucial come finals time. But that was only my humble opinion.
Thanks again RB and I’ll be sure to make this commenting thing a regular occurance as i think this is an awesome site and keeps me entertained at work…

I would go Suckling, I don’t see the point in trading in Kangaroos, Geelong, Carlton or Essendon players at the moment.

Is it worth trading heppell this week or wait till next. Against a buddy and roughy less hawks maybe heppell will play better.

depends what your reasons are for trading him whether it’s to upgrade or cash in and if you play him on ground or use him just as a benchie

He has a massive BE so if you are going to trade him anyway in the next few weeks then best to trade this week to get full amount of money from him.
Im personally going to keep him as cover for the rest of the year.
