Motts Movers R14 – The Mids

Written by Motts on June 28 2011

Thrillers

Gary Ablett ($584,100, 121, 124.82, 139) – All hail the return of the perma-captain.

Scott Pendlebury ($558,900, 114, 125.33, 144) – Making serious claims to being perma-captain himself.

Josh Kennedy ($444,100, 124, 98.62, 80) – 4 centuries on the trot.

Honourable mentions: ROK, Daniel Wells, Ryan Griffen, Jack Redden, Domenic Cassisi, Sam Mitchell, Brent Moloney, Tom Rockliff, Nat Fyfe, Matt Priddis, Luke Ball, and Luke Hodge.

Chillers

Brent Prismall – hasn’t scored above 52 in 3 games this year – no wonder he’s struggling to get named.

Jared Brennan – the screamer he took doesn’t make up for the 71 avg over his last 3.

Rory Sloane – 68 avg over his last 3.

Drillers

Luke Shuey ($397,000, 110, 90.85, 76)

Paul Chapman ($409,800, 109, 99.09, 69) –.this is the last time you’ll see him this low for the rest of the year.

Isaac Smith ($239,400, 112, 94.50, -53)  – ROTY?

Special mentions: Cameron Ling, Ed Barlow, Shane Savage, Allen Christensen, Clayton Hinkley (ton in his third game), Danyle Pearce, Sam Iles, Daniel Cross (that’s 2 tons in a row now – is he back?), Bernie Vince, Jordan Lewis (suspended this week), and Liam Shiels.

  1. Josh Kennedy continues to back my pre-season faith in him …. pity i traded him out after a couple of weeks of early season mediocrity.

  2. And re ROTY, surely the other Smith has large claims on this title with his excellent scoring and excellent coverage for Sandi.

  3. Well done to Power’s Dean Brogan who has announced his retirement and will retire at the end of the season. Premiership player in 2004 and the only player to win a premiership in AFL and a championship in the NBL for the 36ers. All the best for the future big fella. Some big shoes to be filled now!

  4. Jack Watts?

Joking. But he has been looking good recently. I’ll give him some thought for next year I reckon.

  7. Guys I know he’s not gonna pump massive scores but if u want cover just for cox and rest of year, vickery looks good in the Richmond forward line, he’s got some talent and he’s pushing jack up the ground. Might trouble the jamison less blues this week.

  8. Im stuck on what to do with J.Selwood (7 prem mids ATM)… tossing up between either keeping him and hoping he gets 140/game on return, or getting in ROK, Chappy or Pav. My Backs and Rucks are set, just gotta tinker with Selwood to finalise my FWD line.

Swan, Pendles, Gazza, Bartel, Scotty T, Cotchin (SELWOOD, Heppell, Duncan)
Fyfe, Petrie, Goodes, Boomer, Buddy, Dawes
(F7 is currently between I.Smith, Darling, Mzungu, Tappscott).

Pav — adding him in would decimate my team in round 16 bye (Pav, Fyfe, Mzungu, Scott T, Lower, Broughton).
ROK — cant really see any reason not to get him
Chappy — would Bartel, Duncan and Chappy out in round 22 be too much to cover??

Do I need to trade at all?? Will Selwood smash out some big scores on return and be a solid POD assuming most ppl would have traded him out already??

  9. Dont know where to put this, but im watching the coach crawf video, and Crawf has only 5 trades left.

Thats great news for me, because in my other league he is somehow on top of the ladder, so he should run out of steam. Im somehow only 5th… im by far the best coach (highest average) but ive just hit everyone when they have their best week. EG Crawf.

  10. Honestly griffin has better scoring potential, he’s proven he can go all game in Ruck and go forward and kick goals, you know he will play with sandi out. Adelaide probably spewing they didn’t hold onto him.

If u need cash go vicker, consistent scores griffin 🙂

  11. Just noticed I could trade Travis Boak (BE 145) for Dane Swan (BE 84) for virtually nothing but a trade (12 left)… Interesting.

  12. Hmm, not sure which option to take?

    Thumbs up – Cloke & Hale/Tippett/Lobbe
    Thumbs down – Chapman/Sylvia & Vickery/Griffen

  13. Rucks are bloody killing me.
Three weeks ago I had Sandi on the bench and avoided trading Smith to Vardy as I needed Smith’s points and the trade more than the cash.
Two weeks ago Smith got injured and I was looking at a doughnut, decided to downgrade to Vardy for less cash.
One week ago Sandi came back and Vardy got dropped.
Now I have Sandi injured, less trades and no f’ing cover.
    Faaaaaaaark!

  14. All this Sandi-Ruck-Talk has got me thinking. Originally, I was gonna wait a few weeks and hope Jamar drops to 380k-400k so I can get him in perfect for finals time. But after a lot of discussion, I have realised it’s probably better to go Cox/Smith/Okay Ruck (e.g. Vicks, jacobs, hale)/Never-heard-of-ruckman. Only problem is, going 211>300k ruckman is solely on money purposes and I already have 350k. What should I do, get a gun ruck or a middie?

  15. I need to trade out Watson for either griffin or ablett. If I was to go for ablett does anyone think I should wait a week and hope he drops in price a little?

  16. Lewis failed at the tribunal. Out for 2. Something for the 2192 coaches who have him to think about.

    Farcical result. Farcical system.

  17. Arghhh 1000 of being able to put Jolly and Cloke in this week!
so, its one or the other, which pair will do better for the rest of the year?
(Last poll for me for tonight too!)

Thumbs up – Jacobs & Cloke
Thumbs down – Jolly & Chapman

  18. Thanks to everybody above for all the useful Sandi trade talk! I might go Hale, as he has a good finals run and is a nice POD.

  19. 8 trades left and still have heppell and dangerfield, I want to upgrade them both which requires double trades. What do you guys think are my best options or should I just grit my teeth and hope these guys pull their fingers out?

  20. yeah pretty confident with those guys upgraded I can go pretty far in the league. What do you think of heppell to cheney then danger to fyfe?

  22. Great work once again Motts. Griffen has been in ripping form. I am actually thinking of going with the young brigade of: M.Murphy, Griffen, Barlow next year.

BTW any chance of a Trade talk post. Lots of trade talk already.

  23. Mrp knocks big q and Lewis out for two. Friendly fire an accident but leaves keiren jack smashed on sidelines. As a pie I’m happy as but think the game has some serious issues. Only a matter of time till a big ruckman cleans his rover up By accident and gets a month for it.

  24. Just like to put some love out to MJ,
made me consider Chapman over Sylvia and at the moment I couldn’t be happier as I took Chappy.
    Thanks.

  25. Freo v GCS. I am wondering who is the better option to trade in:
    Pav $486K – Thumbs UP
    Fyfe $434K – Thumbs DOWN

  26. Fyfes been gunning it all year although everyone keeps bagging him. Hes 50k cheaper and racking up 100-120/week. Stay off him, hes a good POD for me!!

  27. My midfield, when factoring in DPP players that are elsewhere on the park:

Premiums: Deledio, Gibbs, Goddard, Boyd, Pendlebury, Priddis, Ablett, Pavlich, A Swallow, O’Keefe

Non-Premiums: Heppell, Jacobs, Harris, Prestia, Mzungu, Dangerfield, Smith, Krakouer

With freed up cash from 211 i’m planning an upgrade of one of these, probably Harris.

Who should i drill for oil for?? Swan stands out as a good value but he’s in approx 50% of teams so if i pick him it’s a defensive move against other teams in my leagues. Fyfe’s another that jumps at me. Hodge or Mitchell? Thoughts??
