Backs

• Jed Adcock ($463,600, 89.62) – Jed’s a star. Jed had some lean weeks in the middle of the season but Jed is back. Jed has scored 4 tons over the last 5 rounds averaging 105.6 over the same period. I like Jed. I’ve got Jed. I like saying Jed.
• Shannon Hurn ($433,500, 86.38) – When I saw Shurn in Sheedy’s team at the beginning of the year I thought “you’re a dope, Sheeds”. I then knocked him off a couple of weeks later when I played him. But over the last 3 rounds Shurn has averaged 102.67. He’s already gone up almost $150k for the year. Maybe Sheedy isn’t so dumb after all.
• Jack Grimes ($395,200, 91.86) – Sure Jack’s gone up $200k already but he’s still pretty cheap and has only had a couple of bad games. Against the Lions up north last week he scored 99. His back looks like its holding out so if you’re short on $ but looking for someone effective, give Jack a crack.

Mids
I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that the Cats and Saints will tag each other out of contention this week (although after GAJ’s efforts last week I reckon he could walk on water if he so desired). In any case, this list excludes members from both teams.

• Sam Mitchell ($558,300, 111.38) – The Extractor puts up some extraordinary numbers. Already this year he’s had game scores of 127, 147, 147, 155, 124, 142 and 160. Clearly he keeps running all day. To be fair, there have been some very average scores in amongst those hauls (36, 59, 68 & 76) but at $550k I reckon he’s worth the risk.
• Brett Kirk ($558,100, 107.69) – Here’s another bloke who does not stop running all day. Will rarely let you down even though he spends a lot of games in a tagging role. I’d take Sammy over him but if you hate the Hawks then here’s a great alternative.
• Daniel Cross ($491,400, 102.15) – I was surprised to see that D Cross has dropped $72k this year. He had a bit of a lean period between Rounds 5 and 12 but with scores of 152 and 106 over the last 2 weeks I’m recommending you give him a good look. Cheaper than most but capable of a big score and averaging over 100.

Rucks

• Aaron Sandilands ($556,300, 104.15) – will jump all over Krooz this week just like he did on the Gold Coast in R7 (161). Not cheap but with a average that tops 100 would be a great option if you didn’t get someone in to replace Massive last week.
• Nick Naitanui ($169,200, 56.50) – the kid has freakish skills. His second and third efforts around the ball are amazing. Last chance before his price shoots up next week. A superb third option in the ruck.

Forwards

• Shannon Byrnes ($515,700, 100.80) – think Cats forward line and the names Stevie J, Chappy and Mooney come to mind but how’s this bloke travelling? Started the year a smidge over $300k, got his first game in R3 and hasn’t looked back. Had a couple of hiccups along the way (65 and 51) but other than that its all 90+ with this last 5 weeks averaging 117.20. Definitely worth running the spectacles over.
• Brent Harvey ($481,100, 78.17) – he’s baaaaaaaaack. Has shown with his last 2 rounds that didn’t involve an elbow injury that he can handle the captaincy AND score. Will probably drop again this week but if you’re looking for an option now Boomer is a ripper.
• Jason Porplyzia ($449,900, 89.54) – can have a dodgy week but seems to have blown the cobwebs out with a 145 and 116 over the last 2. Worth a look.
